+ 0 moreWe went with John McCleery because his estimate for the job was very competitive and also because he only lived maybe 2 miles away. He was prompt every day of the job. If he was delayed, he would always call. Not only were we happy with his carpentry abilities, but he offered his own ideas about how the deck was to be shaped which we readily agreed upon. I think John had the job completed in 3 days. After the deck was finished he made sure the work area was all cleaned up.My wife and I were very happy with all John had done. In fact we recommended John to my sister-in-law who needed a few jobs done on her recently bought home. She was also pleased with his work. Not only would we use John again, but another project came up in which we did hire him again.
Description of Work: John repaired and extended our aging wooden deck off the back of the house. It originally measured 10X16 and we had it go the length of the house. (60') All the planking was removed from existing deck. Joists were still usable.

+ 0 moreWe had previously hired John to build a deck for us and were so happy with his work we called him again to do the shed. Instead of bringing all the materials to be used in the construction over to our house, he would build the walls and roof joists at his home and then bring them fully built over to our house. It was sort of a prefab construction. It only took John about three days to complete the work. Whereas when he built our deck, he had his son help him. On this job he was by himself. My wife and I can't say enough about his workmanship. After completion, the work area was cleaned up. And yes we will hire him again.
Description of Work: We had been renting a mini-storage unit for sometime and wanted to terminate the lease and have a shed built in our backyard to handle what had been in the storage unit. John came up with a shed design that also contained a loft.

+ -1 moreJohn McCleeery submitted a bid which we accepted. They arrived a couple of days later and tore off the old porch roof. They left the area CLEAN which is something not all contractors are good at. They arrived the next morning at eight o'clock and framed in the roof using a nice design idea on the corners that John came up with. The next morning they arrived again at eight o'clock and roofed it. Rebuilding the deck roof was similar with a bid, coming on time, cleaning up, and giving us a quality job with no clean up on our part. Each project we have hired McCleery Construction for has been completed in a similar fashion, very dependable and meticulous.
Description of Work: We have used the services of McCleery Construction for several remodels that we have completed during the past several years, in South King County and Pierce County. The last time we used them they rebuilt the roof on our deck, added an additional porch and deck, moved a couple of walls, and finished the walls for a "man room". John McCleery, the owner, is hard working and a person of integrity. He does what he says he will do, offers a fair price, is licensed and bonded, and takes pride in doing things right. We have used them for landscaping, a bathroom remodel, power washing, fences, decks, a pond, painting, and sheetrock. One thing we really appreciate is when we don't know what to do to fix something, or need design ideas, John always comes up with something cool. We definitely will recommend McCleery Construction!
