Description of Work: While coming up with the scope of work for our deck, we decided that we would approach the decking project as if we were adding on additional living space to our house. We felt that while it was uncovered it still would be connected to our house and serve as an outdoor recreation area with a cooking space. We spoke with several contractors who didn't seem to grasp what we were trying to accomplish. We were presented with cookie cutter deck designs that didn't seem to fit with our goals. Luckily, we happened upon Eric from Gaffco. He was professional, knew what questions to ask and took the time to really communicate with us and present his ideas on how the deck could be designed to fit our needs. His whole team is courteous, proactive, thoughtful and most important competent. They took extra time to make sure the job got done to our satisfaction and even managed to avoid my strawberry plants (thanks :). We plan to call on them for some additional work in the near future and highly recommend them.!

 + 0 moreA 49 degree pitch on our roof made it difficult to find someone who will take on the job. Eric came on the same day I first contacted him and gave me an estimate on how much the job would cost. Came in on the day promised and took his time making sure all the moss are gone which turned out to be an all day cleaning. He also made sure the gutters are cleaned and then he power washed the driveway and cleared all debris. He left the site looking immaculate. Highly recommended!

 + 0 moreI needed our roof cleaned on a short time line due to other work being done on the house. I called Eric, the owner of Gafco Roofing and Construction on a Monday, he came that night and gave us a bid and he came and did our roof that Saturday. He always called me back promptly when I called him, he showed up on time, and he is a very nice person to talk to and to deal with. The roof looks terrific, he rinsed the whole house off when he was done, and he noticed our chimney cap had blown off in the wind the previous winter and he fixed that for free. I would definately use him for any other construction project I may have in the future.
Description of Work: Pressure washed and treated our shake roof, rinsed off entire house afterwards, fixed our chimney cap.

 + 0 moreEric and his crew did a great job. They showed up every day we expected them and completed as much work as they could each day. They were all very nice and showed their concern for doing a good job for us. They cleaned up their debris and left us only with a great looking house, with new paint and a new roof. They even showed upon at 7:30 am on a Saturday to put shingles on the roof (they knew we were early risers). Our neighbor was disturbed by the noise, so Eric agreed to have his crew wait until 8 am. He handles the situation very well.
Description of Work: Eric and his crew painted the exterior of our house and replaced our roof.

 + 8 moreFrom the start Eric (owner) was very straightforward and truthful. His estimates were accurate and timely. Throughout the whole process he was easy to deal with and accessible at a moments notice. I found this to be extremely important as remodels are a long and difficult process. Eric was accommodating to any last minute changes and he helped plan the remodel process such that we were able to live in the house during the construction. During construction either Eric (owner) or Sean (foreman) supervised any work completed. This was particularly comforting because a job of this size required multiple subcontractors. Overall I was extremely pleased Gafco and the job they completed. The price was good, the craftsmanship was excellent, and they made a difficult process much much easier. I would recommend Gafco to anyone for a similar job.
Description of Work: They performed an extensive kitchen/family room and 2 bath (master, guest) remodel. The Kitchen work included: -Demo and removal of the old kitchen. An existing wall was removed. The demo was down to studs and included removal of insulation (wall/ceiling.) -Water damaged was discover on an external wall and a section on the external bump out had to be rebuilt and re-roofed/re-sided. -3 large windows were removed and replaced. External and internal trim was expertly installed. -A new pony wall and bar was framed, dry walled, and re-textured. -New bamboo flooring was installed in entryway, family room, and kitchen. -The ceiling was re-insulated and a beadboard ceiling was installed. -New recessed lighting was installed. -New cabinets and an island hood and ducting was installed. -Granite counter tops and a glass mosaic back splash was installed. -New appliances and a sink was installed. -Window trim/base molding/crown molding was expertly installed. -Cabinet hardware was installed. The bathroom work included: -Demo and removal of the old bathrooms. The demo was down to studs and included removal of insulation (wall/ceiling.) -The new layout was drastically changed. Extensive framing was required. -New ceiling insulation and a new ceiling was installed. -A skylight was removed and roofed over. -Linoleum flooring was installed. -2 New vanities were installed. -3 sinks and 2 showers were plumbed. -A new large shower was framed and tiled, including an in-shower bench. -A new bathtub was installed and tiled. -Base trim was installed and trim was added to the doors.

 + 2 moreEric (the owner) gave me a spot on estimate for the cost of each project. He did very nice work and equally as important for me, he was on time (actually a little ahead of schedule which is unheard of) and again was right on budget with what he quoted. I have received many compliments from the neighbors and several requests for Gafco Construction's phone number for other job requests in the neighborhood. The neighbor across the street liked the job he did on my home so well that he had Gafco Construction immediately install a roof on his own residence. I would highly recommend Gafco Construction for your remodel or construction. I will definitely be calling in the future when my next home needs repair.
Description of Work: I was remodeling a flip house. I had the above company install a new roof, replace 3 skylights, paint the interior of the residence, replace a broken bathroom window and rebuild the back deck and front porch for the home. The front porch and back deck had rotted out so I had them replace and expand both the deck and porch area with Cedar decking.

 + 4 moreThis year I have had a terrible time trying to get companies out to give me estimates, etc. I called Gafco and they were out the next day, with a very fair price. They started work 2 days later and after my roof was cleaned and my skylight replaced, I decided to hire them for more work. These guys were there every morning and stayed until dusk - without fail. They even replaced some boards on my deck and hauled away some old railroad ties that the landscaper left behind!
Description of Work: I had my roof cleaned, a skylight replaced and my house pressure washed and painted, and some boards replaced on my deck.

 + -1 moreThe job was done in 8 days, exactly what Erik had originally estimated it would take. Erik throughly explained all of our options and made some suggestions to help keep the cost of the project in line. Erik and Don were great to work with and they did a great job of cleaning up after themselves and they were respectful of our property. Erik's bid was the lowest bid that we received but the quality of the work and the attention to detail was wonderful. Originally we were going to stain the railing ourselves but after seeing their work have hired Erik and his crew to do it. We would have no qualms about referring him to any friends or family
Description of Work: Tear off of old second story cedar deck surface and railing and replace with Timber Tech composite decking and cedar railing using existing framework. Also extended one section of decking 2 feet over original width for a total of approximately 700 sq ft of deck and 15 stairsteps.

 + -1 moreEnd results were very good. The project took two weeks to complete, instead of the original one week planned. Eric and his employee were very easy to work with. They let us know when we had options in design and took the time to explain what they were. They were willing to make changes when we decided to change the shape of the lower deck and reduce the size of the upper deck. Eric was willing to change out a couple of boards that had bent nails in them and redo a few boards with exposed nails. Of the three bids we solicited Gafco's was the lowest, but price was not the only deciding factor. Gafco is a small owner/operator business without all the fancy offices, showrooms, and trucks. Eric is very consciencious about customer satisfaction.
Description of Work: Removed and replaced three sided wrap-around deck (480 sq ft.) and an second story 4x5" deck. Included stairs and railings.

 + -1 moreIt was a great experience. Erick (the owner and manger of the projects) was timely in returning a quote to us and explaining our options. He listened to our concerns and the reasons for wanting to replace the deck in the first place. It was convenient that he was replacing our neighbor's deck as we could see the quality of work going up even before deciding to replace our own. We thought the price quoted was fair. Erick and his employees were very easy to work with. They arrived on time if not early, they worked hard all day, usually discussing the various stages of progress if needed. They finished on time, as per their estimate. Overall, we would recommend Gafco.
Description of Work: Demolition of a 32 sq. ft. front porch. Re-construction of the same porch from scratch using a combination of composite lumber (for used surfaces) and cedar for railings and spindles. There are approximately 8 steps. New porch was approximately 8 sq. ft. larger. All construction was up to code.
