ASM Mechanical

We acquired a 1959 4-plex and during our renovation, we discovered in one of the units that the floor was rotted beneath the toilet. We pulled the linoleum and replaced all of the old rotten wood and discovered that there was a bent portion in the plumbing that the toilet sat on that needed to be replaced before we could re-install the toilet. We called ASM Mechanical and they were out the next day and fixed the pipe. The service was great, considering we are on the eve of Memorial Day weekend. We were very happy with their quick response to addressing our problem, as well as replacing the pipe before the holiday weekend, and they gave us a very fair price.

Benjamin from ASM mechanical came out. He is a very nice guy, I got along with him very well. Unfortunately, we run into problems after problems, most of them created by himself. - He failed to bring with him right sized faucets, but he was nice enough to go back grab new ones. Unfortunately, the pieces were poor quality, which resulted in a lot of complications, some detailed below. - He failed to test the faucets before installing the pipe, and one of the piece was broken, making it impossible to screw it with the pipe. - He failed to recognize the cause of the problem and he thought the angle of the pipe was the issue, and tried to fix it by enlarging a hole in a load bearing stud. - He ruined the stud, I need now to use a metal brace to reinforce the stud. On top of the stud is heavy load (and expensive!), it would be a disaster if it cedes. - After he ruined it, he said the metal brace would be a 60 dollar piece (that's 20% of the job), and that I need to pay for it. - All this took me from 9:30 to 13:30 and made me miss important meetings all day. It was supposed to take 1 hour according to his initial estimate. - He said that one Arrowhead sillcock cost him 55$. On Amazon.com the exact same model is 29.08.He is definitely getting his materials from the wrong place. - He cracked one of the shingles when he pulled the old faucet out. He could have cut the old pipe first, and then remove the inside brace that was holding it. He failed to do that, even though I suggested it to him. - Unsafe handling of the soldering torch. By that I mean at one point he was holding it with his chin, while his hand were busy with something else. Of course no glasses or gloves or anything like that. Now I am left with an open wall and a job to finish myself.
