Western Star Tree Service was recommended to me by a Bellingham retail garden center, and also has good reviews on Angie's List. The owner of the company was the primary contact, and although he was very busy with work during my initial calls, he kept in touch by phone until we coordinated a time for the estimate. His estimate was reasonable for the amount of work, and competitive. All of the conversations were very pleasant and in a very helpful and professional tone. The work was done as promised, very promptly and efficiently. Payment was made easy when the job was completed, with a credit card through the owner's phone. An additional plus was the owner's obvious interest in his work, in his appreciation of our beautiful community, and his optimism and enjoyment in caring for trees, plants, gardens, etc. The entire experience was positive and pleasant in every way. And, oh yes ... the overgrown and sad looking, big old shrubs are gone, leaving new open space in the yard.
Description of Work: Several very large old shrubs were removed. Two men did the work quickly and very professionally. They arrived on time, were polite and very pleasant. A free estimate had been given a few days before the job was done. During the estimate visit, and before the work was started, there was a brief conversation about the details of the job. The two men easily understood just what was needed, how the yard area was to look when the work was finished, exactly what to do and not do. And then they went about getting it done. The results were exactly as expected.

Description of Work: I have had Western Star remove four trees, three of them being large fir trees over 150 feet tall. They were all systematically removed without any damage to surrounding garden shrubs and shed. A smaller birch tree was felled within inches of where Russ, the owner of Western Star, said he would drop it. In all cases the areas were cleaned afterward, and with the large firs a mulching machine was used to break the branches down into a nice ground cover. In short, I would certainly use Western Star again for any tree-removal or tree-care matters.

He trims all the branches as he goes up the tree, and then lowers the tree. He cuts the tree into manageable pieces as he goes back down. I have been very pleased.
Description of Work: There were 2 trees that were about 180 feet tall, and he took them down to the ground.
