Robinson floors was hired initially to redo my floors and handle a mold problem - covered by insurance. He sent workman in and they were never on time. Eventually he just walked off the job. They left equipment laying around, they didn't put things back the way they were. I had an inspector come look at things and he told me not to pay because it wasn't up to standard. After I decided not to pay him, he put a lein on my home for $5,700 and I'm sitting in a house with no sink, stove, cupboard. They left my sink and stove outside. There is a spot on the floor that was completely unmatched. He threatened me at one point, got in my face, and said he does not have to pay attention to me. I've never had a problem with workman like this. Even the workman apologized for their boss and his attitude. Beware, he is not a general contractor, he is only a flooring man - and if this is his best work with flooring, I would not call him. He told me repeatedly that the mold issue had been taken care of which was completely incorrect - I visited the hospital 3 different times. This man is trying to present himself has a general contractor and he is not!
Description of Work: I had hired him to refinish my hardwood floors as well as remediate some mold.

After seeing their website I was hoping for a professional experience. They came out and measured my place and looked at the floor that needed repair and the spot I was looking to have new floor installed. I spoke with the employee about my project, I have radiant floor heat under 3/4 red oak, so there is a concern with nailing through the sub floor and puncturing a tube, he seemed unconcerned about this (he is the pro so I will let him slide a little). He also seemed thrown by having radiant under 3/4 oak, while it may not be ideal it works fine and before engineered floors there was no other option so it can work you just have to know how to make it work. He was not knowledgeable about finish options that would work with this type of floor (again can't necessarily fault him for this that may not be part of his job) so he seemed confused. I am a very experienced DIY'er, I am converting a crawl space to living and have done all the work myself, and could do the floor but don't have time. In the end I never heard from them again, no quote, no note saying they were not interested in the project due to the non cookie cutter nature of it. They might be fine for a slap and run job but that is how my house was built in the first place and I have no desire to go through that and end up fixing mistakes as I have been on my house since day one. Ended up going with another company where the owner was one of the installers, very knowledgeable about finishes and how they interact with the floor in my situation. I will write a review after the work is preformed.

First, know that this is a huge undertaking. Moving all furniture out of the rooms and painting ahead of time, if you choose to do that. The floors looked beautiful and the advice that we were given regarding when to come back to the house was right on. We tried to come back a day early and the fumes were overwhelming. There was a tremendous amount of dust on every possible surface which took a long time to wipe off. I found out afterwards that we could have hired a housecleaner to come do that, which I would recommend as you'll have enough to do just getting moved back in. Overall very pleased with the results. Had to ask a lot of questions ahead of time about the process. It would be nice if they had an FAQ to hand customers.

They refused to replace it, which I can understand as I didn't want the hassle and waste either. But trying to reach a solution was impossible. They offered a warranty but never provided it, they told me they would come back to finish thresholds but never did, and they dismantled my baseboard heaters, which are still laying on the floor. I could go on. My primary complaint is they are poor communicators. My guess is given a straight forward project with hardwood, they would be fine. But they are unfamiliar with engineered and clearly do not have a good business model for correcting mistakes. For two months I have attempted to reach resolution, my only leverage being an outstanding balance of 2,000. They have not returned to finish the flooring job nor have they treated me with due respect. I'm fed up and would never recommend this father/son business.
Description of Work: Robinson's installed a much cheaper engineered flooring than agreed (1/32" rather than 1/4" veneer).
