Lucky Concrete was great. They seemed busy, but still manged to fit my smaller job in. Some great things to note: they showed up every time they said they would, which during the home building process was something I'd grown never to expect. When I asked for a change, he gave me an estimate of the cost difference (something I'd had to practically beg for from other contractors), explained what the price variables might be, and then charged a totally reasonable amount that was in line with what I was told. It might seem small, but it's these things that let you know you're dealing with a real professional. Of course, the work was also great quality.

Description of Work: I tried to get them to look at my driveway for repair. Took many calls just to get them to call back. Then they were going to check it out, but never came and never responded back. Am getting estimates from other companies.

Description of Work: They came to the house for site inspection. He was very nice and answered our questions. We were told that we would get a bid in a few days for our patio, either by phone or mail. We also gave him our email address. As of 5/5/14, we still have not recieved a bid.

Our first bid was way too expensive but Lucky Concrete's was very reasonable. The work was exceptional and has completely transformed the front of our house. Not only was he totally punctual, but the job was done in mere days. We hardly saw him! Price was great, service was great, and we are totally happy with the results. I'd recommend Lucky Concrete to anyone and would definitely use them again.

The project went awesome. I did a lot of the work myself getting ready and Chuck was super helpful telling me what I needed to do and even offered suggestions on things I could do now that would make my life easier down the line.He stopped by numerous times before he came in to do his work to see how things were going. the week before the pour Chuck was getting everything ready and making sure the pour would go well. it was a difficult job for sure with 2 floor levels and difficult access. Chuck treated the job as it were his own keeping mindful of cost and benefits of things. I am so happy with chuck and his professionalism and knowledge, it is hard to find people like Chuck in today's business world, honest, hard working, and very knowledgeable. He is a true tradesman. The floor turned out great, my son and I have had his little scooter down there riding it on the new floor, and there is not even a bump smooth, fast and fun.
Description of Work: Pour floor and new footers for crawlspace converted to living space. I had a crawlspace that I am turning to living space. The pour was a multi level, we are keep one portion for storage that is at a higher level than the living space floor, and the main level totaling about 1700 square feet.

Every once in a while I am surprised by someone who does everything they say they are going to do, when they say they are going to do it, and for the price that they originally quoted. Chuck at Lucky Concrete is that person. As a business owner for 17 years and a business manager for 35 years, I have certainly seen enough contractors/suppliers that don't operate that way. What I asked Chuck to do was remove the pavers and place them on pallets in the driveway so we could sell them, then replace them with an aggregate concrete sidewalk that matched the existing aggregate concrete driveway. Chuck looked over the job, asked a few questions, then told me how he would go about getting it done. None of the others I talked to mentioned re-bar, expansion joints, or the process that would be used to clean and seal the surface. Chuck didn't have the lowest price, he also didn't have the highest price, but I felt that he would do the best job. Day 1 - Remove the Pavers: I came home the night of day one and saw all the pavers piled up on the pallets, just as promised :) Day 2and 3 - Site Prep: They dug the base down to accommodate the extra depth the concrete needed and framed for the concrete pour. This sidewalk curves though gardens on one side and grass on the other side. I was amazed at the care they took to safeguard our plants and the lawn. They tied back the bushes so they wouldn't get broken, and barely touched the grass as they framed the sidewalk edge. Day 4: The Pour: This was the day I worried the most about. They were pouring concrete, if it wasn't done right it would be expensive and difficult to fix. It turned out to be my favorite day with Lucky Concrete. I came home and was blown away at the new sidewalk that I saw. It was perfect! It matched the existing driveway, the quality of the workmanship was excellent, and the little things that I saw that Chuck and quot;just took care ofand quot; in the job showed his professionalism. Day 5and 6: Sealing the Concrete: Chuck let the concrete set a few days then came back and acid washed the surface to remove all the surface excesses. He came back the next day and sealed the surface. It looks beautiful!Chuck did an amazing job, he did it when he said he would, and he did it for the cost he originally told us. But. we got much more. We had the benefit of Chuck's experience, and it shows in our sidewalk. We had the benefit our Chuck's respect of our property, their minimum impact from this big project made easy work on our part to get the lawn and garden back to perfect. And, we got to know Chuck, he's a great honest guy who, and I quote, and quot;still enjoys working with concrete.and quot; I would not hesitate to recommend Chuck and Lucky Concrete for any concrete work.
Description of Work: We had a sideway made from pavers that went from the front of our house to the deck in the rear. The pavers were a maintenance nightmare. The driveway and front sidewalks were all concrete with an aggregate surface. We wanted to remove the pavers and replace them with an aggregate concrete sidewalk that matched the existing aggregate concrete driveway.

First, I need to say that I'm grading on a curve relative to other contractors here. In my limited but telling experience, a surprising number of small contractors stay in business with professional standards that would be flat out unacceptable in many professions. So while Lucky's performance would be a high average in the larger universe of professional service, I was quite pleased overall. That's the magic of low expectations, in some ways, but that shouldn't take away from big props to Chuck. Chuck was responsive, returning my various calls before the engagement even when he was out of town on personal business. That alone puts him far above many of the other folks I talked to. He was also very helpful in his consultation, providing detailed insights and ideas that helped me prepare appropriately. He spent a bit of time with me pre-sale doing this. His pricing was reasonable and he was forthright about the level of unknowns that come up in a project like this. We set a start date a few weeks in advance, and he was there on that date. I wasn't done with my site prep however, and he was able to complete it with an excavator I rented in less than half a day, which was a bit of a lifesaver. The project went forward on schedule (with the small slip to catch up on the site work). Chuck made a couple of changes I requested and gave me estimates for them. The final wall was done on time and almost perfectly. In saying "almost," I have to note that I'm a picky customer, and spec things tightly and want them executed well, beyond the level that many people would notice. I'm a designer, so I live and breathe tight specs and attention to details that don't matter to most people. But I'm willing to pay for that as long as there's transparency in the pricing. So I don't give out an A unless all my high expectations are met, which is perhaps a higher bar than a lot of people have. Please consider this, as I think a lot of folks would give Chuck an A for this project, and looking at his Facebook page, he clearly does a lot of high end work and my project was not one he would find really exciting. So, the things that could have gotten Lucky Concrete As if they had gone differently: 1) I cancelled a couple of pillar footings that were in the original estimate, and cut the wall 18 feet short of the spec that was estimated, partly to offset the cost of the changes I added during the work. The final invoice was for the original amount plus changes, with no reduction for the things we didn't do. I'm not upset about the final amount on balance, but assuming that it reflects the actual amount of work done, I'd feel a lot better if that were reflected transparently in the invoice. The additional work was line itemed, so if there was other unexpected work beyond the original estimate that blew out any savings from not doing part of the job, I'd like to have seen those line itemed as well. 2) Chuck has relatively good customer relationship skills, but he'd clearly rather be subbing to fellow professionals than working with homeowners. Again, he's above average, and I've only run into two contractors I would ever give an A on this count, and a B means I was really happy with is performance. It's not like it should be expected to be in a contractors wheelhouse to be able to excel in working with the much higher maintenance customer segment of homeowners, but if you are a homeowner hiring a contractor, it's important to you. 3) The wall joined to an existing wall, and was to match the slight grade of that wall. It was close enough that most people will never notice, but my picky eye is always going to see the slight hinge between the two sections. So, a solid B to B+ performance, but I feel lucky to have found Lucky Concrete overall. I would use them again, if Chuck doesn't think I'm too much of a PIA after he reads this ;-)
Description of Work: Formed and poured approximately 75 feet of low retaining wall; completed the site work I wasn't able to finish before start date.

My experience with them was great. It is a very small business. He was very professional and made several trips to make sure that he was doing what I wanted him to do. He gave me great advice on easier and more cost-effective ways to do things. I am definitely going to use him in the future.
