Devine Interiors

We really enjoyed working with Sherri. She has a keen eye for what looks good in a given space. My only complaint would be the lack of responsiveness when there was a question and/or issue needing to be addressed. it eventually got taken care of but we had to stay on top of them.

I chose granite for my kitchen counters on May, 14, 20014 at Devine Interiors. Todd, the owner wrote an invoice/contract that day before having my counters measured. I put a 50% deposit down on the total. An employee came to measure the counters on 5-20-14 and the total was greater that what was written on the contract. On June, 20, 2014 Todd called and demanded an additional $870.00. Todd admitted to his mistake and I agreed to pay $400.00 as a good will guesture, but Todd's behavior going forward felt negative and it became conforntational. The customer service was poor demonstrated by Todd not showing up for a meeting, his employees showing up late and not calling,the granite was cut without my imput about the edging, Todd demanding full payment in advance of instillation, but was not agreed to which contributated to the delay in instillation, additional granite needed for the bar did not match the kitchen counters in color, initially he refused to replace the trim which was removed by his employees during instillation and delaying final instillation until July, 28, 2014. Decorative granite on top of two room dividers in the living room were not adhered and a guest moved one when leaning on it.

On the first day of work the trouble began. Original crew was replaced by a subcontractor we had not met. The crew chief then left after one day for a vacation, leaving three young men to do the work unsupervised. Work hours were sporadic. Eventhough we were told this was their only job, they showed up inconsistently, took 3 hour lunches and on one occasion showed up at 6PM. The work they did, the wood and the carpet has needed to be redone. Work was halted while experts inspected the work, presumably to determine who was to bear the cost, the subcontractor or Devine. When Devine themselves came to install the second round of wood flooring they determined the subfloor was too humid.(the first group didn't check) To make a long story short, we have decided to go with carpet instead of paying ourselves to fix the crawl space that has been determined by experts to be dry and meeting state standards. Devine refused to guarantee the floor if they installed it. I chose a carpet from another company as I could find nothing I liked at Devine other than the carpet we had put in the bedrooms. Didn't want that carpet in living room and dining area. I think I deserve a carpet I like after four months of having our furniture in the garage and nothing to show for it. We are now trying to get some of the deposit back since the majority of the quoted price was for the wood flooring. The deposit was a percentage of the total. The manager, Todd, has been consistently busy or not there when we have telephoned or shown up at the store. This story is still not finished. Eventhough the contractors from Devine themselves have been very sympathetic, I would not recommend this company to anyone I considered a friend. Too bad, as we have a big kitchen project to do.

Devine Interiors assigned a construction manager who was available to us at all times. Our manager was named Bob and was pleasent and easy to work with. Workers were polite, careful, and kept us informed of what was going on. Our tiler, Brad, was meticulous and his work is beautiful! I really enjoyed having a decorator help me with choosing tile cabinets, paint color, etc. Todd and Sheri are knowledgable and you get the expertise of both in planning your project. We were concerned about cost overruns but the only ones we had were due to our changes. For example, we wanted tile trim instead of the wood trim that was in the bid. If you make a change extra care is taken to make sure that the customer knows there will be an extra cost. No surprises with this company and they are honest and hard working.
