I highly recommend them! The bid was reasonable and the project came in at bid. Work was thorough and owner and his crew are very polite and professional. I will definitely work with these folks again! (Project: removed very large pine tree -- minus some of the stump -- and worked in a tight space...surrounded by two homes and partial fences. They didn't cause any damage to the fences!)
Description of Work: We had a large pine tree we wanted to remove. Left some wood behind so we could use for firewood.

As it wasn't an emergency situation, I wasn't in a hurry. I was flexible about scheduling the job with William, the owner. We kept in very good touch by email and when weather permitted, one spruce stump was removed in November 2016 and the other tulip poplar stump finally removed in January 2017. (BTW, William and his crew had cut down this 50+ year old tulip tree for us last year and did an excellent job.) Clean up work good and resulting mulch confined near areas where I will be wanting to use it later this spring.
Description of Work: I have had excellent tree removal work and stump grinding work done in the past by Complete Tree Care. So, I didn't hesitate to call on them again for removing two stumps in the yard at my daughter's home.

He proved himself competent to get a test done on a downed tree, although he missed the call on visual inspection, needing a culture to do the confirmation. However he, like 5 other arborists hired to perform the same service, proved not to be competent to test for the presence of the fungus in a standing tree and to develop an action plan for dealing with evaluation and management of real or potentioal hazard trees over time. I hold the entire profession in very low regard on this score.

Update: He took over 6 months to bill me for the work and blames his computer system (a good business keeps paper records too ). His demeanor was very uninterested when I met him - like he was annoyed with me - his customer. After I had waited 6 1/2 months to get my bill, he says he can't wait one more month for me to get the funds together - It's Christmas season and funds are tight for everybody. I'm not refusing to pay, but he is being very rude and inefficient. If he can wait 6 1/2 months to bill then he can wait one more to get paid. 2nd Update: for requesting a one month extension, cursed at me calling me a jacka** and a**h*le. PLEASE DO NOT HIRE COMPLETE TREE CARE!

Customer refuses to pay bill in timely manner. Is insulting and rude. Asked for another month and a half extension to pay his bill, which he's had 6 months to pay, and I politely refused.

See above. We are very satisfied with the service.
Description of Work: We requested an estimate for tree removal for insurance purposes. We were having a sticky situation with our insurance company and some work that had been done. William was willing to come the next day, provided a great analysis of the tree removal situation and an estimate for the tree removal. He had other objective information about the tree removal process and equipment used that were very helpful to us. We truly appreciate his professionalism and knowledge. We would definitely use Complete Tree Care for tree work and feel they definitely deserve the "gold star" by their name.

The tree was dying and ants were found inside and around the tree. We were afraid the ants were termites. William from Complete TreeCare came looked at the tree and determined they were not termites. He sprayed the tree trunk and got rid of the ants. We also contracted him to tear down the tree and removed the stump. I was satisfied with their work. I have asked for further services since then, including examination of shrubs around the house, and suggestions on putting up another tree where the old one was removed.

Trimmed 15 Red Cedars and a Katsura. I had to get them topped to conform to CC&R's. They couldn't have been more skilled. Topping is one of the worst things to do to a tree, but they did it very cleanly and discretely so that you have to look really hard to see it. They cleaned up very well (they have a truck-mounted chipper). Well worth the money.

We contacted Complete Tree Care on a Friday and left a message. On Saturday morning, William called me back and asked if he could come out to do the estimate that morning, as he was already in Sudden Valley. Positives: We were pretty vague about what we wanted, but William was very knowledgeable and had great suggestions for what limbs to remove and how to improve the safety and aesthetics of the house. He provided a bid while on site on that day. His price came in at least $100 lower than our other bid, and since he was a certified arborist and seemed more knowledgeable than the other contractor, we gave him the bid. We felt the price was outstanding for the amount of work done, particularly since more limbs were removed than we had expected, making a big difference in the appearance of our house. We're very satisfied with the way the job turned out. Negatives: William was a little difficult to get in touch with. The number on Complete Tree Care's website seems to go to an office phone, which no one answered any of the 3 times I called it. He would usually call back later in the day or the following morning. When we accepted his bid and hired him for the work, he said that we could be fit into the schedule about a week and a half from that date (totally fine with us) and that he would contact us 2 or 3 days in advance to let us know the exact date. He actually contacted us the night before to let us know he would be out at 8am the next day. When he arrived to do the work, he seemed irritated that my car was still parked in our parking area, which he needed for his truck and chipper. I told him I would be leaving in the next 5 to 10 minutes, but I could move it right away if he needed me to. He seemed very flustered and short with me throughout our interaction that morning. I asked William about how long he thought the work would take so that I could come home that afternoon to pay him for the job, he said they would send me a bill. It has been two weeks and we have not yet received the bill, nor have we heard anything from Complete Tree Care since then. The clean up work done after removing the limbs was somewhat lacking, in my opinion. In order to avoid damaging them, his crew removed 5 to 6 lights that were on stakes in the ground around the property. This was fine, however they did not put the lights back, but left some of them in a pile on our deck, and the rest in front of the garage. There was also quite a bit of leaf debris in the yard from the limbs being dragged through the lawn.

Very pleased w/ this company! Workers prompt, efficient, skilled and we had excellent results! Owner is bonded, ISA Certified Arborist, certified WA contractor and professional climber. Also consulted him on health and stability of other trees in our yard and large oak in neighbor's yard (which would affect our property if tree fell). I would not hesitate to use Complete Tree Services again or recommend them to family and friends.
Description of Work: removed four large trees (ground stumps on two of the trees), heavy size reduction and pruning of three trees, treated two trees for needle blight, removed large evergreen shrub (25' tall) and removed all debris. Trees cut into blocks sufficient in size to be used for firewood (which we chose to keep).

This was a job that involved two neighbors so William had to be diplomatic and patient also. He methodically topped and removed all the big trees, shrubs and several smaller trees over a two week period. It took a little longer than originally planned because of weather and the amount of ivy and debris that had to be hauled away. We were gone on vacation when he finished and if we had been home we probably would have asked him to cut the stumps lower - or paid the extra to have them ground - but we have been recommending him to everyone for his bid, thorough job and professionalism. All the neighbors were amazed that he could stand in those trees for hours weilding the chainsaw with such expertise! He definitely knows what he is goind.
Description of Work: We had three 100 foot tall poplars and assorted smaller trees and brush that William removed from our property. It was a challenging job as the trees were covered in ivy. He did all the cutting in the trees themselves without the help of a boom which was amazing to watch.

One of the best experiences as a property owner I have had. He's slightly distant, but I wasn't hiring a friend. This is the first time I have ever recommmended anyone in this way. But I've already done it to my friends, one on one. H***, if you need tree or greens service, hire this man
Description of Work: I would -- and will -- hire this man again. I expect to in the next few weeks or months. I live in the middle of acres of trees. I needed some help. I told him what I needed immediately; he walked my propertym and gave me an estimate. In three days, he had completed the job. Beautifully. I have used another tree/green services before, and now William will help me clean up behind them. I've hired electricans, plumbers, HVAC guys before. A lot of them. William Sorgen is the best of all of them. He's going to work for me again....I hope. Don't give him so much work that he can't get mine done. Then again....anyone out there in Whatcom, give him all the work you can. You'll be glad you did.

A guy that does yard work actually recommended him. He did a great job. He chopped it all up and took it all away. He did a good job of cleaning it up. I didn't really know what other people charged. I had an online discount that I applied. The price seemed reasonable. He is an arborist so he was very knowledgeable and more skilled about trees. He knew more than just cutting down trees. He had a broad knowledge about trees. I never met him. He looked at the job and did the work when I wasn't home. I did ask him to call me before he did the job but he didn't; apparently it worked in his schedule to do the work. They did a really good job and the tree was gone and cleaned up quite nicely. I would contact him for future tree work and I would recommend him.

William came within a week or two of being called. He did exactly what we asked him to do. He worked hard and the result was good.
Description of Work: William removed a large, overgrown clematis from an arbor above our deck, which vine had gotten infested with a small, biting red insect. He trimmed the Japanese snowdrop trees that were hanging over our house. He removed a volunteer locust tree. He trimmed another, large locust, and a lilac to enhance our view. I have an 80 foot fir tree growing approximately 25 feet away from the house in my side yard and over the winter it managed to shed some very large branches. Though some were undoubtedly due to storms, there were some others I was not sure about. I picked this company out of the yellow pages because he was not only a tree "trimmer" but a certified arborist who could diagnose whether or not the tree was diseased. I called him up and after explaining the situation we scheduled a diagnosis...William came out promptly at the time appointed, quickly diagnosed the tree as healthy (explaining how and why he came to that conclusion) and offered to give me a bid on limbing the additional branches that were also likely to be shed (it is apparently the nature of this type of fir tree). The bid was reasonable, he waived the diagnosis fee and applied it to the pending bid, and he said he would call back to schedule a time. William came out right on time (earlier, actually), completed the job, and left the site spotless...actually: cleaner than it was when he arrived. Oh, and also, when he was out for the original diagnosis he also gave me some good advice (gratis) about some other trees I had...which showed me how dedicated he was to his field.
Description of Work: Limbing old branches from an 80-90 foot fir tree to approximately 30-35 feet up (without damaging my adjacent house!) and then chipping the branches, leaving them for me to use as per my wishes.

Superb. William was available when we needed him to do work. He showed up as promised for an estimate, was professional and knowledgeable. He showed up on the day of work and did an expert job of preparing the trees for removal, making an effort not to damage a nearby fence and surrounding fauna. We were highly impressed with his skill and service. Would highly recommend.
