Paul Burlingame (and team) constructed a basement garage and attached ADU on the side of our 100 year old house - no small feat at all. Initially we were a little guarded because of all the horror stories you hear about shiesty contractors, but our experience with Paul has been nothing but positive throughout the entire build. He has a keen attention to detail and values good quality work. For example, there were a couple crucial details that were not described by our engineer, and Paul worked hard to determine the right course of action. In the end, what he came up with was better than we could have imagined. Not only is he personable and a knowledgeable contractor, he has an eye for aesthetic which was a delight as we discussed design options, from trim details to pergola hardware. In the end, Paul and his team built us a stunning 800 sf 2 story ADU and 400 sf basement garage, that feels spacious and contemporary while beautifully tying together with the exterior of our existing 1920s Tudor Revival home. I can not recommend Burlingame Contracting enough! Thank you Paul!!

I had a full bathroom remodel done by Burlingame. I was referred by a friend of mine and I am extremely happy with the work that was done. The crew was respectful, courteous, and cleaned up at the end of each day. Burlingame was easy to work with and assisted in the design choices along the way. When unexpected things came up, they always do, prompt notification was provided and any issues were addressed. I plan on having Burlingame remodel the guest bathroom and kitchen in the future. I’m extremely satisfied with the quality of the work and final product. I highly recommend their services!

Paul and his crew are fantastic. They show up when they say, work hard, pay attention to details, and helped us realize our ideas for updating the master bath. We are *VERY* pleased with the results. We are having them return next year to work on another bathroom!

Overall very good quality work. Inaccurate info posted on Angie's list regarding his availability for work within one month. His next available slot was over two months out. Site clean up after job performed, was about average. Would hire again.

We spent a great deal of time and energy (four rounds of interviews) researching contractors to help us remodel the home we had just bought, and we chose Burlingame Contracting. Our project was significant because we not only wanted to completely remodel both of our bathrooms but we also needed demolition and structural work, removing and adding walls, windows, skylights, plumbing, electrical and roof work. We had very specific design ideas and a detailed parts list (different kinds of floor and wall tiles, imported lighting, large soaking tub, fixtures, etc.) and a limited amount of space, so we really needed to find someone who was flexible enough in their skill-set to get things done how we wanted them and who could communicate extremely well as there were tons of small design decisions that needed to be made along the way. Paul really came through for us. Not only did he create what we had imagined, he reliably offered improvement ideas and structural suggestions as he was working on the project. There were things that there was no way for us to know about in advance and, without Paul's forward thinking, we might have ended up with something beautiful that didn't last. His work looks good and feels solid and we trust it. Paul often told me that he was afraid he would "bug me" too much with questions and thoughts. As someone who has been through the remodel process in the past, this was music to my ears. And Paul was true to his word, contacting us whenever he had a question, texting us pictures, explaining options and issues, and consistently letting us know where he was at with regard to the project. We also very much appreciated his willingness to take time out of his weekend to meet with us weekly at the house to go over his progress and review details in person, as we were still living in the Seattle area. In terms of the work quality, it is excellent! Every time I walk into one of the bathrooms, I feel as though I've entered a beautiful hotel, suited just to my tastes. The only downside is that Paul’s work is so nice it now makes us want to have him update the rest of the house as well! Paul has good attention to detail and we appreciated his experience and workmanship. He has good subs and suppliers and manages them well. He is easy to work with, has a good sense of humor, and really ensured that he understood what we had in mind and did a fantastic job making it real.

Paul remodeled our one small bathroom in our new condo. He did mosaic tile flooring, subway tiles on the walls, installed a new bathtub and vanity and toilet, and put in all of the hardware (including vanity lighting). He ended up needing to do some behind the scenes plumbing, subfloor, and drywall work too. It turned out so beautiful. He did everything we wanted and we’re beyond happy with how it looks. Paul was always easy to get a hold of, always returned texts and calls in a timely manner, and was really easy to work with. We highly recommend him!

I found Paul on Craigslist and had him come out to look at my basement mother-in-law suite. The suite needed a big overhaul as the last time was probably in the 80's and it was pretty run down. Paul took his time and went over all of the details with me to explain exactly what was needed to do the renovation. Of the 4 or 5 contractors I had look at the project, Paul took the time necessary to look at what he was getting himself into before blindly committing and I appreciated that very much. I would much rather know up front what I'm getting into. Paul took about 3 weeks to complete the renovation with his team. He quoted me about 4 weeks so he was finished early which was nice. The quality was fantastic, he for sure knows what he is doing. The price was very fair imo for the time spent and the materials and for the quality of work. Since the major renovation, I've had a few other projects like replacing a house door, redoing a kitchen and redoing a bathroom that Paul did as well and they turned out very nice. Overall 5/5 stars and would highly recommend to anyone looking to redo a bathroom to major overhauls.

I love the new showers - the tile work turned out perfect! Paul takes care to get all the details right, and he did a great job of communicating with me throughout the project. I would definitely use Burlingame Contracting again for any future projects.

Fantastic! Paul is a problem-solver...and we had a few problems! Asbestos, unlevel walls and floors, cabinet damage and delays, rotten siding, to name a few. He always impressed me with his calm, we-can-do-this attitude - there were many challenges but he was always open to suggestion and compromise and, in the end, the result is amazing. This was a total re-do - all new sheet rock, flooring, reconfiguring spaces, new kitchen, bathrooms, laundry room...complete gut. And that was just the inside! Also, new siding, windows, exterior paint - we're currently figuring out a plan for exterior walkways, patios and parking pad. It's hard to find someone you really trust - Paul is honest, hard-working, talented - I will contact him ANY time I need work done.

First off, I would like to say that I would highly recommend Burlingame Contracting for any remodeling work that you may need. My wife and I initially had Paul come out to do a complete remodel on two bathrooms in our home. During the design process Paul and his team listened to our vision for the bathroom and offered great ideas to build upon them while keeping to our bathroom budget. In a short amount of time Burlingame Contracting was able to transform our bathrooms by getting rid of the old cabinets, tub, drywall, flooring, doors, and lighting. They then installed new vanities, heaters, designed a pocket door to save room in a small bathroom, designed three built-in closet features, tore out a wall to create more space, installed a new tub, and installed new tile floors. In short, they made our bathrooms look amazing. I think the thing that impressed me the most about the experience was that during the remodeling phase Paul and his team ran into a few big surprises due to the original construction of the house and he was able to adjust on the fly while keeping the work going ahead. During the course of the remodel Paul ended up having to replace subflooring in a bathroom due to a prior unknown leak, fix electrical issues that were originally not set up to code, help relevel our home due to improper initial construction which led one side of our home’s foundation to sink over an inch into the ground, and he and his men ended up installing a French drain to help reroute water from a low point in our yard that was contributing to the sinking issue. During the entire process Paul kept us updated on the progress of the work, his next steps, options for design, and he went out of his way to make sure that we were happy with the job they were doing. Despite the surprises that occurred with the subflooring, sinking foundation, and the drainage issue Burlingame Contracting was able to adjust on the fly and offer cost effective solutions to address these issues. In short, it seemed like they were prepared to handle anything, and that is exactly what you want in a contractor. Overall, the work turned out beautiful and was of a very high quality. As I mentioned earlier, I would highly recommend them for any job that you may have. My wife and I will definitely be using them again. Please note, I have included before and after pictures to show the amazing work transformation that took place.

He performed all the demolition, design and construction quickly and for a good price. He was really friendly and he was very conscientious. He cleaned up his mess and took care of the little problems along they way. Like the massive layer of tree roots he had to tear out to pour the new concrete slab. Very happy with my new front entry steps/ My neighbors have commented on how nice they look.

Paul did a good job- especially appreciate his wood trim work. He was dependable and communicative. He went the extra mile to be sure I was satisfied. I will continue to use his services in future, as a home owners work is never done.

The bathroom project was much larger than I had envisioned. It was a huge undertaking to gut what was formerly a walk-in closet in one of the two second floor bedrooms. There was no electricity or door in the closet. There was no water or sewer lines to the second story of the home. Mr. Burlingame had to rip up the floor and the walls to allow the room to be expanded, to allow for wires and pipes to be run through the walls and the floor. Since the sewer line requires a certain amount of drop and the sewer line is 3" or 4" in diameter it required that he build a soffit in the first floor living room and kitchen ceiling to conceal the pipes. There was a huge mess throughout the home comprised of sawdust, drywall dust, piping, wiring, nails, screws, plastic, cardboard and the like caused by the demolition and the new construction. Before starting Mr. Burlingame laid out cardboard and plastic to protect the carpets and rest of the home. He cut lumber, tile and other materials in the garage. He began the project on time and when he said he would, he finished the project on time and within the budget he quoted me and he cleaned up the mess afterwards. I got a fantastic value for the money I invested in the home. I highly recommend that you request Burlingame Contracting to bid any construction project (big or small) that you need done.
Description of Work: Burlingame Contracting added a bathroom to the second floor of an 80 year old rental property I own. The project was not easy by any stretch of the imagination. The job required the expansion of a walk-in closet to make it into a bathroom. To do so required moving a wall, running new power, water and sewer lines to the room, installing a new vanity, sink, bathtub/shower, toilet, wall outlets, switches, lights, exhaust fan, floor tile, door and frame, drywall and painting. Mr. Burlingame explained the process to me and answered my every question. He always showed up when he told me he would and on time, he finished the job a day ahead of schedule and for the amount he quoted me. There were no hidden costs or any other surprises. The quality of his work is excellent and I would use him again without hesitation.

GOOD, HE GAVE ME A BID AND DETAILED WHAT HE WOULD DO. HE DID ALL THE WORK HE SAID HE WOULD DO BY THE TIME HE SAID HE WOULD GET IT DONE, AND AFTER HE WAS FINISHED WITH THE PAINTING JOB WE DID A FINAL WALK THROUGH BEFORE I PAID HIM. THERE WERE SOME THINGS THAT HE TOUCHED UP BUT IN THE END IT LOOKED GREAT. I AM A LOCAL MORTGAGE LOAN ORIGINATOR SO I DEAL WITH DEADLINES ALL THE TIME AND THIS GUY WAS GREAT. I LOOK FORWARD TO WORKING WITH HIM AGAIN.
