Jan was on schedule and very friendly. He wanted cash only. Price was competitive. Wood was open to the rain so not dry. He suggested August is a better time to order. He does not stack so I had to transfer it all to the back of the house.

After seeing all the good reviews on Angie's we made an appointment for Saturday to pick up a load of wood to fit in the back of our SUV. The wood was sitting on pallets in his driveway ready for us to pick up. The quantity was less than 1/4 of a cord and cost $80 cash - he does not accept checks and didn't give us a receipt (we didn't ask for one either). He offered another two row of logs for another $25 which we paid. Total paid $105 in cash (no receipt). As we were stacking the wood we noticed how dusty all of it was, lots of termite and insect holes. I asked where he gets it from and he said he buys fallen whole logs and cuts them with powered cutters. The wood was all dry which was the only good thing about it but almost all the pieces were very large in radius. Yes they were 16" long but most very large pieces. It looked like the tree was cut into fourths no matter how large it was in diameter. Unfortunately we didn't say anything while he talked about how great his wood is and how so many happy customers use it for many purposes. We drove home and unloaded the wood into a covered shed and grew more dissatisfied as we stack it. This is our first firewood purchase since we moved to WA and the quality was far inferior to what we were used to at our old house. We've been purchasing firewood for 10 years and never saw such dusty pieces. I called him later that Saturday saying we weren't satisfied with the wood. He was of course surprised and later agreed on a refund. I didn't expect him to offer this and was pleased since I was going to ask if he didn't offer. We took photos of the wood so anyone wants to see just ask. We returned all the wood the next day and he had cash ready when we arrived. He helped us unload the wood. My husband mentioned again how bad the wood was and showed him many dusty termite chewed pieces. He could tell we were mad and apologized but clearly disagreed with our assessment of his wood. That's fine and to be expected, but when I got in the car to leave, he commented loudly "I hope you enjoy the really dusty ones" as if to say we kept some of his horrid wood.That got me mad. I yelled out from the car "we returned every single piece of your wood, we kept nothing." Why in the world wold we want to keep this garbage? I was far too polite while we were there. I would of give him a higher rating for 'professionalism' if he didn't make this last comment as we were leaving. This is the second company we used on Angie's list that had all A ratings only to give the company an F. It makes me very suspect of any ratings on Angie's.

Jan seems like a nice man and was responsive however those looking to buy wood need to know that although the wood is split for transport it is not fireplace ready (at the time of this review) . The wood will need additional splitting for use in a standard fireplace. For those that don't mind the additional (but significant) amount of work needed the price and quality seemed decent. Due to the large size of the wood I declined to purchase.

I first found Reliable Firewood on Angie's List two years ago. After comparing prices, I decided to give Jan a call. He was very nice, gave me all the details and options and we struck a deal. Jan called ahead on the day of delivery, as he said he would, and arrived right on time. The wood was in great shape, very dry and just the right size for my fireplace. I've continued to use Jan every year (3 years total), and I'm completely pleased with my experience.

the experience was flawless from the time my phone call was returned. they showed up at the right time with straight, dry and evenly split and completely clean wood and unloaded it exactly where i asked. there are no limbs or large pieces with knots to deal with . it's easy to split further into kindling..though i needed very little as the wood is aged perfectly and fires easily in the fire place. i've burned lots of wood over the years and used may sources...but reliable is by far my best experience.

I spoke to Jan and set up an appointment to pick up my firewood. It was dry pine and it burns great. He sells any amount of wood. He helped me load my pickup, but he also delivers up to 20 miles. He is a very nice man, and I felt safe going to his house to pick up the wood. I tried some other wood guys and have had some bad experiences in the past. I have already put Jan's phone number into my phone for all my firewood needs.
