Spoke with the owner, he did a drive by and submitted a bid. His team showed up with a wood chipper, climbing gear and chain saws. Within about 2 maybe 3 hours all three trees were gone! It was amazing. Two of the trees were less than 3 feet from the house and were quite tall. The team was very nice and had a great attitude.

They were just excellent! The supervisor who first came out to survey our yard was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. He knew his stuff very well and guided us on what type of work would be good for us. We have a lot of trees and shrubs and no grass. We've had a lot of trimmers over the years and this company is the best. His crew came the following week and did a great job. It was a 4 man crew and they had a chipper with them. They didn't finish the work that day so they came back the next day to finish at no extra charge. I do plan on having them come out once a year for the yard and tree service.

I've used Norwest Tree experts before at my previous home in Kenmore and was very happy with the work and price. So I called them again to take down two trees at our new Redmond home. We didn't opt for the haul away of the wood but they sure did do a great job in cleaning up afterwards. They neatly piled the tree rounds/sections/branches and cleaned the work area. I would recommend their services to anyone who needs tree work. Great service, great price!

They did the work on budget and in less time than they had originally estimated. It was a very challenging job and they completed it without damaging our yard or the neighbor's. Everything was done as promised. We would definitely recommend NorWest to anyone.

Andy came out, looked over the issues and gave the estimate. It was reasonable and I agreed to the work. They called with a date to do the work. The crew came out and took out 2 of the 3 trees and a small limb on the maple but not the major trunk. I called Vic to express my concern. He understood the issue right away and had a team right out to do the work correctly. Even though his team had to make 2 trips there was no change in price. Very responsive and professional!

I called Vic and left a message asking him to come by and give me an estimate. Vic called back right away and later came by to eyeball our property. Later we met at the house and we walked around and discussed what work needed to be done. Vic's communication was outstanding from start to finish. His estimate seemed fair given the need to control vehicle traffic and clear large limbs from a fairly busy road that borders our home. Vic and his crew from NorWest Tree Experts did a fantasric job.

Victor Dell at NorWest Tree Experts was prompt to call and make a bid for our job after receiving our inquiry. The price was reasonable, based on past stump removal experiences, so we accepted the bid. We were notified before NorWest arrived so that we could have all furniture and plants removed, since three stumps were within or near patios. Workers arrived on time and were friendly yet professional about their jobs. The entire job took a little over two hours by the time the stump grinding machine was maneuvered carefully into our small-ish (for a stump grinder) patio entry and through our somewhat narrow side passage to the back patio. Plywood barriers protected house/windows from flying debris. There was dust in the air, but that's just to be expected when grinding into dirt! All in all, we are very happy with the quick work, clean-up (customer is left with the chips - free mulch!) and friendly attitude. We would hire NorWest Tree Experts again - but we have no more stumps! Thank you, NorWest!

I called on Monday morning and left a detailed message on Vic's voicemail requesting a quote. After waiting the whole day and not hearing back, I decided to call again and was able to speak with Vic. He said he'll call me the next morning to advise what time he could come by. About 11am I had not heard from anyone, so I called Vic. He said he would call Andy and have him contact me. At about 1:15pm, I got a call from Andy saying he would be here in 15 minutes. I would have been nice to know ahead of time when they would come out so I didn't have to waste my time waiting around for them. Andy showed up and gave me a great bid that was about 150.00 less than a couple other bidders. I called Vic later that afternoon to book the job. He said he would call be end of day or the next day to set the schedule. After waiting a few days and not hearing back from Vic, I booked the job with a different company. I'm really surprised by the poor responsiveness of this company. Norwest made my list after reading all the great reviews here on Angies List. After having bad experiences with two other contractors who weren't very good in terms of responsiveness, I've learned to avoid companies who are poor in this criteria.

When I first contacted the member he said he would be home all day and any time would be fine for the estimate. In fact when Andy arrived at the member's he had to wait for another tree service to finish up their estimate. I was contacted the following week by the member and he told me he wanted to accept our bid but when I tried to schedule the work he informed me they weren't ready at that time and would contact me at the end of the month to schedule. I was never contacted by phone or email and we do not try to push service dates on customers as some companies do. I tried to contact the member several times after seeing this report to clear up any miscommunication but he never retuned any of my calls. I hate to see anyone spend more money than necessary for tree service and in this case a simple phone call or email would have prevented it.

I bought a "Big Deal" coupon because I needed help pruning some overgrown trees around my house. I was not aware that the services they usually provide are generally larger projects. However they didn't make me feel bad at all and despite the fact that my purchase was so small they still came out and did the work. They were very professional and did a great job. I am sure some day I'll have need for this type of service and I'll for sure call them again. I appreciated their treating me with respect and their attempt to give me value even though I misunderstood the nature of their business. That's the mark of a great company.

After reviewing Angie's List, I called them in early March and got a bid. I was on an extended stay on the East Coast at the time, and Vic came out and then e-mailed me the estimate. In July, I was back in Mercer Island and called them to schedule the work. (I had also gotten another bid.) I picked NorWest because their bid was better, and from talking to Vic I felt he understood what I needed. They also had an excellent Angie's List rating. I also researched them on the internet, and found few complaints. There were three guys that came out - the main trimmer (I think his name was Ken) and two other guys. Ken was very experienced at doing this work . . . I could just tell from the way he conducted himself. He discussed with me what he was going to do before he started. The work took about an hour and a half. As Ken dropped the cut branches into my yard (he was very careful not to drop any into my neighbor's yard) the guys below would haul the big branches away to the truck. When he came down, he gave me a report on the condition of the top of the tree, and the guys cleaned up the yard well. I felt very satisfied with the whole experience.

I thought they were good. When an early opening came up in their schedule, they called and moved me up, and I appreciated that. They had a full team of people that came so they were very quick with the job and their clean up was as the job went along. The property looked in good condition when they left. They didn’t over cut and the work was satisfactory.

Response from Norwest Tree Experts
The member purchased for her son, 2 coupons from Angie's List for $198 total. Her son contacted us and we went to the location and provided an estimate for stump grinding, and he scheduled to have us do the work. He called the night before and canceled the job and instead wanted an estimate on removing a dead Alder. We provided an estimate for that work. The member called and said she wanted to spend no more than the $198 so I agreed to, for the $198, send the crew out to grind 2 stumps and then send a climber and ground man to remove a dead Alder which required removing and replacing a fence. Being in this industry for over 30 years, no other tree service would send 2 crews out for $198 but we agreed to do this for this Angie's List customer. I contacted both her and her son to ensure they understood the offer but they did not respond, so did not take us up on this more than fair offer. The ratings provided by the member do not reflect any services offered as we were not permitted to provide them.

The three crew members were very careful to assure that I approved of the pruning as we went along. They did a thorough job and excellent clean-up. scheduling had been a little difficulty due to the response to their coupon offer and the weather. All understandable. The work was done well, equipment was very good and I would hire them again anytime.

Description of Work: I got an initial phone call concerning their services. I was told that Angie's list had made a mistake in listing their services for my area. My home was out of their range. However, I was told that if they had a job in Everett they would contact me about the tree I wanted cut down. I was also told that they would contact Angie's List about the error. I haven't heard anything since then other than I was billed for the "deal". Margaret Lublin As of 6/22/11 I have been in contact with NorthWest Tree Services through the e-mail. My money has been refunded with no problem. This appears to have been an unfortunate series of mis-steps by several parties including me. I appreciate that this sevice was prompt in helping to get this resolved. Margaret Lublin

They arrived when they said they would, even called to let me know they were on their way. Both Andy and his helper (sorry I have forgotten his name) were very professional. The work was done as requested and they hauled away the debris and used a blower to clean off the driveway and walk. It took around four hours. The Japanese maple looks beautiful, like a specimen tree now. I would recommend them and would use them again.

Description of Work: They were difficult to contact, couldn't get my phone numbers straight. Said they would arrive on one day but couldn't because of "mechanical problems". We initially tried to contact the member on the number she provided and reached her husband. They wanted an estimate on removal of a large cedar, which we provided. The member contacted us and requested an estimate instead on skirting 2 of the Cedars up 30', and side limb the large double-stem Cedar next to the house 15' above the roof peak. I met with the member for this second estimate and we discussed the work. We agreed to go out on a Thursday afternoon, unfortunately that morning we suffered mechanical issues on the first job of the day. We were able to have the truck fixed late that afternoon and contacted her the next morning to reschedule for that day, and they both agreed. The crew showed up to do the job and she informed them that they wanted additional work on 1 tree and rather than side-limbing she decided to skirt the tree next to the house. They were informed that there would be an additional charge for the additional 2.5 hours of work. They agreed. We did the work exactly to the specifications on the work order. The member was present the entire time the work was being done and spoke with the crew, inspected the work, said everything looked great, and wrote the check. The member called Friday night and left a message that she had a question about the work. Unfortunately I was out of town for the weekend and was not able to return her call until Monday. We tried to reach her numerous times but did not hear back so we were not able to address her concerns. We finally reached her husband who said he did not want to get involved. We emailed the member twice and even offered to refund her money, and her response was that she did not want to deal with this any longer.

I contacted the customer at the house. When I provided the estimate I pointed out to him that he had broken fence posts and that the fence was 30-40 years old and was in bad shape, but we would be as careful as we could. We have a policy of due diligence and care. He told me not to worry about it. Our crew did the best they could in a tight area with an old fence. We try not to impact neighbors with the tree work if at all possible. Our crew is fast and efficient, and we follow safe work practices as our safety record indicates. As a favor to the customer, at no additional cost, we chipped and hauled away a large brush pile that was not on the original estimate.

I hired Norwest with Angies List coupons - so I don't have a good basis for a price comparison. The job was to clear out a dead hemloc and about a dozen "volunteer" trees that had established themselves over the years. A full crew (4 guys - a bit of overkill) showed up at the appointed time and set out to remove the trees I had previously tagged then cleaned up the debris. Within an hour of their arrival they were done: trees gone, lawn raked, driveway blown clean.

I described my feeling in the above description. Overall I was happy with the results at the price and do think the 30% with Angie's list made it work.
Description of Work: I had Norwest remove a laurel tree stump in a Queen Anne backyard that was challenging to approach with their equipment. The stump grinder is an awesome thing that rotates and tears through the stump side to side. This is NOT a rental tool in the least. I used an Angie promotion to get $400 of service for $200 and I was quoted that they could remove a mature 20" stump and about 6 feet of multiple trunks above ground for an extra $200 with my coupon. So for $400, they did completely remove the tree stump and chainsawed the larger portion of the lower tree. I took multiple weekends to cut and remove all the small branches and haul away. They cut the bigger portions into camping firewood and them for me. The two guys who came out were very professional, did the job in 2 hours, and were careful of my plants and bushes while maneuvering a big machine around tight corners. My only advice is that they need better response time on phone call backs. I did have calls out that were returned next day twice.
