This was a tricky project because the house itself is very old which makes remodels more awkward. Jemal and Jose helped us to find the most cost effective way of making those rooms usable but also nice to look at. They were also quite flexible and we were able to modify the project as we went along. Also, there were a couple of minor repairs that needed to happen after the job was completed. They were very good about coming back out after they had finished the job to make those repairs. Overall I think they did a great job at a good price. I would use them again on future projects.

We just finished a project with Jemal, and could not be happier. We own an old house with an unfinished basement. We had Jemal do a full basement remodel, transforming my old and dark unfinished basement into a beautiful, well lit and new rec room, bedroom and laundry room. Jemal was great from the beginning. He gave me a written bid with all details spec out, and always discussed any possible add-ons before they happened. J & A remodeling was not cheap, but why would you want a cheap contractor? I like to say he was fair and I definitely got the basement I wanted. Jemal made good suggestions along the way, and now we get a lot more useful space out of our home. It doesn't even feel like a basement anymore, it feels like part of the house. Jemal and all of his crews were outstanding and very polite and knowledgeable. I would not waste your time calling someone else, and I will definitely use Jemal and J & A remodeling in the future again.

They did not provide an estimate for the deck. They were the highest bid. Their actual bid did not have very good details, it did not have good information in regards to the layout of the bid. It was as if numbers were thrown out and there was no explanation as to where they came up with. It wasn't a large project. The gentleman that owns the company was a neighbor of my daughter. The day they came out to do the bid, the owner was not available so he didn’t come with his crew. There must have been some miscommunication somewhere along the line because they didn't provide the bid on the deck. My husband was the one who dealt with them. I think communication-wise, it’s something they could work on, if they were better at it, they probably would have more jobs or work to do. If they were negotiable with their prices, I would probably use them in the future.

Jemal and his guys were great! We already had a design from another vendor and we'd purchased the cabinets for that design, but decided to use someone else to put them in. Jemal's guys built the cabinets, did the flooring and installed the appliances and some drywall and lights. Turns out the cabinets didn't fit because the designer made mistakes, but Jemal and his team made everything fit and it looks great. His prices were good, his crew were gentlemen and trustworthy, and I'm planning on using him for our next project. I highly recommend him. I've had some bad experiences in the past with other builders but Jemal and his crew are nothing but class. When we found the design didn't quite work and it would take extra work I was afraid I'd get screwed on prices but they were very reasonable.

Jamal's team worked hard & completed our bathroom remodel per our requests. We were satisfied with the result.

Master bathroom became a bit bigger, a wall built to place a door and gave a new spacious shower. Replaced floor, and carpets for tiles, lights and fan. Looks great Family bathroom, same layout but everything else was replaced. All the work was made on time, kept on budget. We had a cosmetic issue with the shower floor but as soon as we were both able to set it up, it was fixed to our satisfaction. Both were done in two weeks.

Long story short they are located in Bellevue and I'm in Federal Way and they said they don't come out this far. Fast and polite responses.

We are wary of quotes where the provider gives rough estimate with additional per hour costs. Jemal's quote were about the complete job and we liked that. The job was done within budget. The crew was well mannered and professional. We picked the items and most of it was bought by Jemal. We liked this arrangement as it freed us from transporting heavy items. We figured that the mirror did not look nice and we asked for change. Jemal was flexible to do that. After the job was done we had few minor issues and I think it will help Jemal to do follow up and ensure customer is happy specially for big ticket items.

We went with J&A because we knew what we wanted. Other companies make you use and CHARGE for their design service whether you need them or not. We purchased the sinks, counters cabinets and closet pre assembled. all design elements were done and purchased by our family. Start date was Sat 7-6 , his choosing not ours, at 8 am. 930 we called and Jemal told us they were at Home depot. No one ever showed up. at 11 am Jemal sat in our Drive way trying to find them...... we started Mon. The crew "leader" Azeez ( or wess depending on what name is being given) was useless. The entire project he showed up 4 times- and the 1 time I shouldnt count since he stood there and watched people work! He could never be found, never answered his phone and used every excuse in the book. Thank god for Hose. He stepped up and took over as crew leader 1/2 way through the project.It was not soon enough to get us back on time , but he did save it. He was very detailed in his work, and worked until 9 pm some nights just to help us. If it were just him- we would reuse the company. I had an electrician who didnt show 4 times- putting back the project, a painter who gave me attitude for him not priming the space when I called him out on it and lots of miscommunications! The worst part was probably the electricians!! The were rude, smelled and when they went in the attic to run the lights for the shower took no care with our home ! The acess was in my husbands master closet and they got insulation EVERYWHERE! I would have gladly removed my husbands cloths had they asked or warned, but didnt and as a result we had to dry clean 10 suits and a number of sweaters to get the insulation and junk off! My seperate electrician ( to run a cable line) and Hose felt so bad they were trying to clean it all up!! Hose would basically be apologizing all day whenever some other person was brought into our home. Our project was projected at 21 working days and costing $15,000 - we went over time by 15 working days and were $1500 over budget. The end result speaks for its self. Is it perfect- no. There are some mis matched grout lines, and one section of molding where it needs to be fixed,but the overall job was to our very picky standards. Id add photos, if I can figure out how.

Have not used him to date. I' had been waiting for a 2nd bid, from 'JM' contractor and did not hear back from them after they canceled their appointment at the last minute. Its been a week; no followup. I sent in a 'poor' performance feedback but inadvertently tapped the address for JA Contractors. So..I'm trying to get another contractor bid but wanted to rectify the poor rating I inadvertently gave JA. They were timely, responsive and bid was reasonable. Please take this into consideration when checking their feedback lists.

Finding a great contractor is hard, and once I realized I needed profesional help I started procastinating my project (Remodeling Kitchen and bathroom). I had already removed the drywall ,but I got frustrated in not being able to find anyone I liked to do the real work. So I gave up and lived with exposed electrical and 2x4s surrounding my kitchen for five months. No joke! Finally I found J and A remodeling through my good freind. Jemal and his team are fantastic ,they are great at what they do,profesional,and really good guys.Everythig was always explained to me in detail,so I new what to expet when they were working. And Jemal was full of good suggetions,things I wouldn't have thought of. I didn't do much in the way of price comparision, so they might not be the cheapest soultion.But I doubt they're the most expensive either. If you are looking for someone who does the job right that you will enjoy working with, J and A remodelig is definitely the way to go. I wouldn't hesitate to contact them again for another project.

We received 4 separate bids, three from Angie's List and one from a contractor we had used before that wasn't on Angie's List. J&A provided us with an easy to understand and thorough bid document which made clear what they planned to do. Two of the others were not nearly as detailed while the fourth was also quite thorough and specific. We made some specific additional requests and, as described above, asked for materials that were cheaper than those specified by J&A. They provided us websites so that we could identify plumbing and electrical fixtures we wanted and we also found inexpensive but quality suppliers of flooring and tile that J&A then worked with. In the end, by listening to their suggestions and they, listening to our requests, we mutually came up with a quality project. We couldn't be more pleased.

Professional, courteous installers. They replaced the tub in my condo and were about $600 cheaper than everyone else. And they did a great job. Tub looks great, tile looks great and everything was done on the exact budget quoted and on time. What more can you ask for?

one problem after another -- original grout was wrong color (came out pink) that was redone and acceptable outcome. bullnose tile was supposed to be used around tiles in shower but was not and it was too late to correct. Granite counter was drilled incorrectly for fixture and I had to order another faucet that was not to my liking but counter was already installed so I had to accept. Heating under floor tiles does not cover enough of the surface close to the sink and toilet. Many areas of grouting do not look professional and grouting seems to be rough. counter height is extremely high and I guess that was because I picked out the wrong cabinets but you would expect a contractor to tell me this before installation. After many attempts at "fixing the problems" I insisted on another employee but the results were no better. So we are left with a bathroom remodel that looks completely unprofessional. This company should be removed from Angies List.

Had an out dated kitchen that needed a face lift. J & A Remodeling came to the party. They were very helpful. Finished on budget. Easy to work with and allowed some changes without additional costs. I will use them again.

Overall I was quite satisfied with the project and end result. J & A Remodeling was able to move forward with the remodel quickly after the initial estimate was provided, and they worked solidly each and every day until the project was complete. Both my wife and I work full-time so we were not present when most of the work was performed, but J & A was extremely responsive in e-mail and over the phone in giving me regular progress updates and asking questions when they were unsure how to install something. When the drywall was first removed they performed all of the electrical work needed, and then installed the heating pad and porcelain tiles. Once this was completed, they installed new drywall, did the painting, and installed the new vent fan and light fixtures over the tub and vanity. Next, they installed the vanity and the matching wall cabinet (over the toilet), and re-installed the existing toilet. We then had to wait almost 2 weeks for the counter-top installers (a different company) to come and "template" the vanity and install the new quartz counter-top and cast-iron undermount sink. When this was complete, J & A finished up by installing the remaining plumbing, sink fixtures, and new back-splash and window trim. Overall, the quality of the labor and work was high quality. I agree with other reviews in that their tiling skills are impeccable. The floor and backsplash look amazing. The cabinets were installed straight, the electrical work was done well, and the new fixtures (and fan) were put in correctly and function well. The only negative (and hence the B in quality) was that they did not apply any texturing to the walls (even after I suggested) and the sanding of the drywall putty was somewhat poor and left lines and imperfections in some places. We weren't home to notice before the paint went on, unfortunately, and it's subtle enough that the paint hides most of it. My expectation was that of what new construction would look like (since they removed / replaced all the drywall) but we didn't get it. Also, the vanity cabinet doors and drawers were not aligned correctly after installation. I was able to fix this myself easily, but I would expect a contractor to ensure these finer details are taken care of.

Overall we are happy with the exterior painting and bathroom. Strengths: I am impressed by the professionalism of his crew and very well mannered. They put in a lot of effort, very cheerfully. They cleaned up very well after work was done each day. Areas to improve: Upfront planning/scheduling/coordination could be improved. Some attention to detail/craftsmanship needs refinement.

I like to convey my sincere appreciation of the project involving extensive renovation of my triplex in Seattle. The expected expenses were not deviated from budget allocated; timing...assuming the project proceeded in reference to time Stan proposed, and all the unexpected kept to a minimum. I have no reservation at securing the J & A company service in future personals & for my associates.

I can't say enough good things about Jemal, the owner of the company. Over my many years of having remodeling done on my home, apartments and offices, he stands out in my mind as a professional of his trade that is honest and has integrity. Jemal listened to what I wanted and made it happen, constantly checking on how each step was going.

It was a bit of a rocky start. Jamal came by on Saturday afternoon, and told us we needed to move everything from around the house (firewood rack, four full rain barrels, and countless plants. Unfortunately, we were entertaining the next day, and moving things was impossible. So there was a bit of a scramble to get everything moved. This was as much our fault as his, but more notice would have been nice. Other than that, the work went smoothly, his subcontractor were excellent, and a pleasure to have around. The quality of the work was very high, and we're extremely happy with our house's shiny new exterior.

Jemal, and his J&A team, really delivered our bathroom remodel. They helped us with planning, provided a budget, allowed us to select within guidelines, and even accommodated some late changes when we could not get the original tile that we had selected. The final cost was within 10% of the original estimate, and the revisited once after completion to fix some grouts that had set poorly. All within budget. We are very pleased with the final outcome, and would recommend them for any similar work.

Jemal was professional and kind with exceptional customer service. He answered all my questions in a timely matter when negotiating the bid and understood matching our dream bathroom to our budget. He was also very patient and understanding when we were trying to finalize the design of the tile and the overall look of the bathroom. Nusrat and Zeiad, his two workers, were also exceptional in their craftsmanship and work ethic. They did an absolute stunning job on the tiling! They were also courteous and respectful of my family and home and left the place clean after each work day. One thing really liked was once the job was started, they focused 100% of their efforts on completing what seemed like a daunting remodel, in 12 days. Overall we are so pleased with our new bathroom (spa retreat) and plan to use Jemal for future remodeling. Thanks again Jemal, Nusrat and Zeiad!!!

I explained the issues I had with the house to Jemal, he gave me some ideas, and he and his one-man crew came on a Saturday to give me a quote (which I was okay with). Knowing that I urgently needed to have my laundry done, they started promptly on Monday morning. By Thursday, the two gates were done, the double doors installed, the washer/dryer moved and ready to be used, and the mess due to construction were cleaned up. On Friday, I notified Jemal of a few kinks that I found in the gates, and they promptly came to fix them the next day. Since I couldn't take any days off work, I was pretty hands-off this project -- I met them in the morning, gave them the house keys, and then came back after work to take the keys back. I was pleasantly surprised with how smoothly things went, even with my lack of involvement in the project. My only complaint would be that the gates did not really match the neighbors' fence pattern. But I would blame myself for this because I was not present with them when they went shopping for gates. Overall, Jemal and his crew were very professional, friendly and easy to talk to. Just be sure to be involved and communicate your needs clearly and you won't be disappointed.

Jemal was accomodating and prompt for the initial bid. He was courteous, listened well and gave some suggestions, but not to negate my ideas. When we decided to go with his bid he planned a time to start the work that worked well with us. Right after Thanksgiving. His two men were polite, considerate of our home and prompt in arriving. English was not their first language, but they tried and did a very good job of communicating questions and answers while there. Very pleasant men and comfortable to have around. The work was very good quality. My husband does tile work as well and he felt very comfortable with their skill and the end result. The shower and floor came out just beautiful!. My only complaint was there was a mix up in the grout colors. We had picked different grout to go on the walls and the floor. That was not communicated to the workers and they put the floor grout on the walls before anyone realized. It turned out fine in the end, the colors were so similar, but that could have been a diseaster. The other concern was that I asked for a soap dish and that was missed, so no soap dish. But I did get 2 large built in boxes for our stuff. Apparently there was a family emergency in Jemal's family, so I think that is what happen with those 2 errors, so very understandable. All and All I would say there was little stress and the team did an excellant job. I recommend using this company and just remember to communicate and clarify understanding of the details you would like done.

Jemal was friendly, knowledgeable and courteous. I was presented with a professional looking bid in a punctual manner, but I chose to go with another contractor for this job.
