Hello Angie's List member, I received a single message from you regarding a painting project. With our shortened holiday hours, I was not able to respond to you yesterday. I am happy to recommend a painter that we us regularly and have been happy with their services. Feel free to email me and I will provide you with their contact information. [hyperlink removed]

It seems like they do this a lot. Said that they handled small projects, but after waiting over a week for a bid, only to find out that they had another, larger project, and had no time for us. This was after waiting weeks for an appointment. Complete waste of our time. Not really likely to call on them again.

The crew was very professional, kind, and helpful. Brad was very responsive to phone calls and questions that came up in the process. I would definitely recommend them and plan to use them again in the future. Excellent work
Description of Work: Brad and the team at BH Contracting remodeled an old bonus room into a gorgeous dance studio. In addition, they framed off a bay in our 3-car garage to make an office. The work included flooring, painting, drywall, electrical, and framing. Excellent work

Plumbing: BH had a talented plumber come in and solve a challenging drainage problem for a new sink we wanted to add to the laundry room; while he was at it, he said he could, on the spot, add a new faucet to our side yard and garden area - something that required laying down about 12 feet of new pipe along the interior of the wall. Electrical: BH had an experienced electrician come in, analyze our space and our needs, and knew what was to code and what was not, then acted on it flawlessly. Nice job and outcome. Drywall, remodel, and locks: BH Contracting did a great job creating this new usable space which used to be an old garage workroom and a small laundry room cut off from everything. Now, we have a connected, new entrance into our home thanks to a great new exterior door they installed. Brad Wilson was very responsive to our questions every step of the way and if something was not right, he got with the appropriate sub-contractor and got it corrected for us. The price was a bit pricey for us, but we don't think we could have had the same outcome had we gone with the one other contractor we contacted.
Description of Work: Plumbing: added plumbing for new utility sink to laundry room and hooked it up; routed a new pipe to a new outside faucet to our side yard. Electrical: re-positioned electrical outlets in new mud room, added a new ceiling fan and two new overhead lights. Dry-wall: Applied sheet rock, drywall, and paint to newly combined laundry and mud room space. Remodel: Added new exterior door and removed an interior wall separating two halves of the new space. Locksmith: keyed and applied new deadbolts to three doors.

I have been completely blown away by the team at BH Contracting Services. Not only is the team fantastic to work with - truly some of the nicest and organized people - but they finished our project two weeks ahead of schedule! Two weeks! Much of that I attribute to the very close attention to detail and schedules that the team follows - daily updates were the norm, along with constant communication from the owner and office manager. We always knew where the project stood, if there were potential roadblocks ahead, etc. Our project included picking out new appliances, tile, hardwood colors, granite, hardware, etc. - we received a list up front of preferred vendors to work with - it was so easy to pick out what we wanted, because BH Contracting has relationships with all of these vendors. Plus, we let them know up front, what our budget was, based on that budget, we were allotted a certain amount of money for each aspect of our kitchen - which made it really easy to stay within budget. The quality of their work has absolutely blown me away - every little detail imaginable is perfection. Our kitchen is so beautiful - it feels like we're living out of a magazine. We're thrilled with the outcome. It's apparent that the team at BH treats each job as if they're working in their own home. Hands down, we will hire them again for future projects.
Description of Work: BH Contracting Services completely renovated our kitchen, which involved moving our laundry room to a new location, knocking down walls, moving electrical/plumbing.

I called February 29th for a couple of bathroom remodel estimates and the first available afternoon appointment was March 5th so I took that one. The estimator came on time and was professional. Than I never heard from him again and it wasn't until I called in April that I received an estimate from them April 16th. The estimate was much highter than expected so I decided to go with another company who was very prompt with sending me an estimate and starting my project.

This company's responsiveness, quality of work, and professionalism was impressive. Did everything and more that we asked for. They have a slate of good vendors, whose representatives helped us with our selections for a true upgrade of our bathroom. The installation of all the components was then carried out exactly as promised, resulting in a beautiful finished product that we're proud of. Their workers were considerate, polite and helpful, and always aware of the owner's expectation of excellence. We have another project in mind and will definitely use BH Contracting Services again.

I contracted them in November to finish my unfinished basement and told them I would need to have the job done by the 22nd of December. There was a little problem in that I had at about the same time a flood in my basement which I submitted to insurance to repair. The company Paul Davis did an excellent job helping me clean out the debris and also rebuilt a part of the basement that had been damaged. Then BH contracting came in and in two weeks finished my basement area I call the den, the laundry room , hall and bathroom. I was given places to go and pick out my preferences for rug, tile, linoleum, bathroom cabinet, plumbing, paint colors and to my amazement a shower for the bathroom basement. I had not even thought that was possible. I really liked the people I worked with through the entire basement completion. The guys from BH were great, the plumber was great, so was the electrician, and the rug and floor installer who came in and did the job just before his vacation in Hawaii. Brad and Joy from BH Contracting were absolutely wonderful! They also had suggestions I never would have thought of regarding ways to do things. If I would have tried to subcontract out the work myself, it never would have happened. As it was 2 days after they finished I had the family christmas party (of 25 people) at my house and everybody fit. I know that if I had done subcontracting it wouldn't have turned out as well. I forgot to mention the plasterboard group and the painters who also did a wonderful job. I realize that if I had done the contracting by myself it may have been a bit cheaper, but the hassle would definitely not have been worth it. I would give this company a thumbs up for a job well done.l Grateful for a job well done; Dolores Roberson

He and his team did an outstanding repair & remodel job!!
Description of Work: This is my 2nd use of Brad's service. They were quick to respond, gave me a really competitive bid, and could handle changes. This job was much smaller than the one done in 2009, but Brad and his crew were quick to take the job on and run with it. We discussed any last minute changes, and he was able to get them into the job. The place looks wonderful, and is exactly what I needed. I got 5 other bids, and they weren't satisfactory for various reasons (frequently cost), so his bid is the one I went with. You can contact me through Brad and I will discuss how the job went, if you want to. Just ask Brad for my name & phone number. I have pictures to show the fine work he and his crew did, in a very timely manner. This job was too small for a couple of vendors, but Brad was happy to bid on it. I had to scale it down even further, but Brad & his team went with the job with no quarrels about it being a small job. I've now had a large and a small job with him, and I cannot recommend him highly enough. I found him originally on Angies List, too.

We didn't end up using them since they never got back to us after coming to do the estimate. They are hard to reach as mentioned by several other Angie's list members. However, they did come to our house and took the measurements and promised an estimate within a few days to help us make a decision. The guy who came to the house took quite a bit of time. I tried to get in touch with them several times, but they do not answer the phone. I did leave a phone message requesting the estimate as promised, but never heard back from them. It was a waste of my time as I had to leave work to be there during business hours for them to come to the house. I would not recommend them based on their unresponsiveness.

I have used BH Contracting before with success so I called them again for this remodel because, frankly, they always do a great job. They came through for me again this time with flying colors. When Brad Wilson came by to give me an initial estimate he brought with him the owner of Canyon Creek Cabinets so that they could give me the best idea of cost and the latest products to solve space problems. Brad referred me to designer Colleen Wiley and I found her guidance to be invaluable. Brian Neuenshwander managed my project. I have found Brian and Tyler to be knowledgeable, precise and skilled at everything they tackle. And they are considerate people, nice to have in your house for an extended remodel. Scott installed all of the tile, which turned out beautifully. Really there was a minimum of mess throughout the work. A plastic tent was up most of the time to mask off areas but some plaster dust is unavoidable. Overall I am so happy with the results. It all looks better than I imagined. Everything is more convenient now. And the workmanship is top grade.
Description of Work: BH Contracting remodeled my kitchen and one bathroom over the course of 1 and 1/2 months. They removed and disposed of all old appliances and cabinetry. After demolition, they raised the dropped kitchen ceiling about a foot. This required reframing, insulation and some new drywall. They installed all my new appliances (please note that the fridge and ovens were not included in this remodel price) as well as maple cabinetry, pulls, Cambria quartz countertop, tile flooring, tile backsplash, new disposal with undermount Blanco sink, plumbing (faucets), undercabinet lighting and can lights in the kitchen. Walls were painted and base trim installed. They even refabricated the venting and added a new motor to the old stainless steel kitchen range hood my father had made. In the bathroom a new shower pan, water valve, bench, panels and shower surround were installed. All of this was tiled. An electrical circuit was run to the main panel and a new combination heat-light-fan replaced the old fan. The bath was completed with plumbing, lighting, base trim, several towel bars, frameless shower door and a nice coat of paint. The price quoted above includes all tax.

Gave most comprehensive quote with around median estimate. Work was able to start very quickly once we gave advance payment. They did all the coordination of various subcontractors. The work was completed extremely quickly considering everything we asked to have done. All demo done in under a day, no issues with trash or demo material left on our property. Communication was excellent. Their tile guy left a lot of grout on the actual surface of the tile and left us to clean it up. I also wasn't thrilled about how they grouted the accent tile, but we weren't asked how we wanted that done. The tile otherwise was pretty well done. The painting was great and the glass shower door firm they work with (Northwest Shower Door) was also a great local firm. Very nice, professional people, very easy to work with, were able to complete everything we asked and even compensate to do work we didn't realize we needed until the project was underway, work was completed very quickly, and we were pleased with the result. Two different assessors who visited the house confirmed the changes to the bathroom are value-add.
Description of Work: Removal of bathroom interior door, tub, and old tile. Removal and drywall fix of mildew problem in skylight over shower. New wood around door frame. Moved ventilation fan location from ceiling height up into skylight over shower, brand new fan installed. Replacement of tub and shower plumbing with shower-only plumbing. Replacement of drywall and baseboards. All-new floor-to-ceiling subway tile with lovely accent. Addition of two wall cutouts for shampoo. Installation of frameless shower door. Complete repainting of bathroom. Fixed leaky sink. Immaculate cleanup after job completion.

Obviously we called because they received excellent reviews for their work, that's why we were interested in them. We were not able to get them to come out. Made a call to ask general questions about about doing an addition to our house. We wanted them to come out to talk to us and take a look at the house. They didn't want to come out for any initial look around. We were told they would do a bid on a design we had-- thought they had design/build service. The lady told us she could send someone out but then said they didn't send people out if we didn't have plans for them to look at.

Response from BH Contracting Services Inc
Our standard process is to have a design architect look at the feasibility of an addition before attempting to bid an idea that might not be feasible or allowed by the governing authorities. In this case the member was given the design architect’s contact information to assist them in scheduling a design consultation. The next step would have been to set a bid appointment. Unfortunately, we never got to that point. To further assist this member, per his request we provided him with an approximate cost per square foot based on the description of his addition. We typically shy away from doing this as each remodel is unique. At minimum we like to bid from preliminary drawings, so a client can receive an accurate bid.

The old counter-top was made of 6x6 tiles and the grout was continually being washed away with every cleaning of the surface. We had BH Contracting remove the old counter top and backsplash and relplace it with a solid surface engineered stone. The project lasted three calendar days from beginning to end, but each day was only a few hours of work. Day one was the removal of the old counter and backsplash which included some drywall repair around the perimeter where the counter met the wall. This was the longest day. Day two included some addtional drywall repair (allowing work from day one to cure) and counter/sink installation. Day three consisted of the hardware installation and re-connection to the drain and water supply. All through this process the workers were puctuctual, courteous and respectful of our home.
Description of Work: They do the small projects too! We had a bathroom counter top replaced.

The bid contract was written up in a timely manner and the work began on the day promised. There was some wiggle room in the ultimate cost estimate because of the difficulty estimating the labor. I considered rating the Pricing as a B rather than an A because the final cost was a couple hundred more that estimated. However, as I was there for the whole process and kept abreast of the progress, I do not fault them for the time spent. The window did not need to be replaced but it was extensively re-caulked. Part of the deck door frame needed to be rebuilt and new siding shingles replaced and then everything painted to match. As for the upstairs bedroom, due to the way the water damage had discolored the area, two walls and a third of the ceiling had to be repainted after the drywall patch dried. Painting subcontractors were used for this interior work and they also did an outstanding job. All in all, very pleased with the outcome.
Description of Work: I had a re-occurring leak above my deck sliding door. That corner of the deck faces the SW and the leak was more evident with wind-driven rain. The origin of the leak was believed to be from the upstairs bedroom bath window, and that water traveled along the shake siding until it found an entry point at the deck door frame and then came into the interior room. It was unknown at the time whether the window needed replacing, but some of the siding would need to be taken off to confirm the water path and make repairs. I also had interior water damage to the upstairs bedroom at one ceiling/ wall corner from a prior problem with the roof, which had been resolved earlier. I was interested in getting bids on both aspects of the work, which is why I was looking at a general contractor as well as a window or leak specialist.

It took me a while before I found the right GC. I received estimates from several GC?s and had several look at the basement, which was the major work, before making a decision. BH was slightly more expensive than other GC?s I met with, but the difference was under 5K for the entire job and the confidence instilled in me by Brad was worth the peace of mind. Brad was booked for about two weeks when I called, so I met with most other GC?s before I met with him. It was clear from the walkthrough we did that he was familiar with that type of work and provided several options for how we can accomplish it. He was the one who recommended I ask my engineer re the I-Beam, which was a crucial call for this project: it transformed the basement into a great looking space that has significantly less posts than wood solutions. After that all my communications with Brad were prompt and timely. I never had to wait too long for his replies and they always covered 100% of what I asked. Overall, the estimates for both time and money provided by BH were met and the quality of the job was impeccable. Here is a snippet of the email I sent BH once the work was complete: ?I want to take a moment and give big thanks for all the work. You helped make my house a home and I really appreciate it. I will also contact you again in the future for my remodeling needs, which I am sure there will be many! :-) Looking forward to work with you again.?
Description of Work: The inspection on my 1908 one-story house raised a single red flag: the house is under built. The centerline beam in the basement was a 4x4 wood plank – it was supported by about 7 posts that rested on concrete mounds – and the joists were spaced too far apart and only 4x6; this was made worse by holes drilled in them to allow electricity wires and pipes run across the basement ceiling. I hired an engineer to provide numbers for bolstering the basement and came up with the following solution: The centerline beam will be replaced with an I-Beam that can be supported by only three posts. Two of the three are at the edges of the basement space, so that space opened up significantly. The new posts were installed flush into the concrete floor and the mounds used for previous floors flattened LSL joists will be installed in between the existing joists, to provide more floor support. The area under the kitchen revived a tighter wood spread, to support deflection requirement for tile floors For the new joists to be installed, all wiring and plumbing needed to be uninstalled and rewired after the joists were installed New electricity outlets and media-cable pipes were installed in the living-room and dining-room, to support a cable free TV installation Florescent light fixtures were installed across the basement ceiling to provide full light coverage for the space The frames were insulated and covered in heat-deflecting plastic sheets Finally, BH also installed slate tiles in both front and backdoor entryways, as well as in the kitchen
