I highly recommend this company. They did outstanding work. Before the remodel, BH owner, Brad Wilson, went through the house with me and discussed the project. He listened to ideas and offered great solutions for dilemmas. After a couple of weeks he presented an easy to understand "Scope of Work" and price summary that included a breakdown of costs and allowances for things like countertops and fixtures. At that time, we were unaware of the decayed state of wiring behind the walls. I lived in the house for the entire remodel. Everyone who worked here was considerate, intelligent, professional and had a great sense of humor. They let me know by text if they were arriving early. They screened off work areas with heavy plastic and zip doors to minimize dust and maximize privacy. They cleared rodent droppings from the basement ceiling with no complaints. They worked fast and were very knowledgeable about all aspects of their professions. My cats liked them. The unexpected need to replace wiring in the house changed plans and slowed the process, and made it impossible to give a precise time frame for the remodel. But the electrician cleared through a tangle of ancient, charred, and rodent chewed wiring and left the house a lot safer. Overall I am really happy with the finished product.
Description of Work: I moved into this house in 2016. Half of the house had been built in the 1940s. An addition was added in the 1980s. All of it needed updating. I hired BH because I have used them before, always with excellent results. This was a big job that included re-wiring all of the 70 year old portion and some of the rodent damaged wiring in the newer addition. The basement walls had to be reconfigured to accommodate modern electrical code. They removed the walls, saving the old wainscoting to preserve the historic feel of the house. Walls throughout the house had to be opened for new wires and then repaired before rooms were painted. The basement was updated from dark and ghastly to a well lit and pretty living area. A creepy root cellar was converted into a giant closet. The whole basement was retrofitted with seismic connectors. At my request, a hole was cut through a concrete wall to expose an enclosed crawl space, which was cleaned, covered in plastic and given an access door. Upstairs, 3 bathrooms were remodeled with plumbing and lighting fixtures, venting fans, tile floors, vanities, mirrors and paint. (The old vanity in one bathroom was painted to match the nearby kitchen cabinets). The master bath was fitted with a new shower and free standing tub. the kitchen was expanded with new appliances and new cabinets that matched old. Wood flooring was installed in the family room and tile flooring laid in the laundry room. Overhead lights were replaced throughout the house. Shelves were added to closets and the laundry area. A myriad of small items were addressed. The outside of the house as painted and broken gutters were replaced. All debris was concealed and hauled away promptly.

Every aspect of this complex project was carried out with the highest level of professional expertise, excellent project management, cost effectiveness and consideration for those in the proximity of the project. I have the highest regard for this company and it's owner/manager, who was personally involved in each important step. This company also has impressive sub contractors who work alongside company employees seamlessly.

Brad and his team are wonderful to work with. We had used Brad previously for a remodel of our bathrooms, so we knew to expect excellent service and quality work from BH Contracting. Brad's estimate was thorough and clear. We made design changes during the project, and resulting changes were always reflected in an updated contract, with fair and very reasonable pricing. The quality of the materials and the final remodel were excellent. Brad's team for our kitchen remodel was Warren and Chase, who were highly skilled, and always a pleasure to discuss the daily project progress with. Our project went well. The inconvenience of a kitchen remodel was minimized by the courtesy and professionalism of BH Contracting. Every day during the project we were pleased by the rapid progress and beautiful craftsmanship. I would highly recommend BH Contracting.

Complete waste of time to call these people. Unless you feel like being interviewed to find out weather your job is worthy of their attention!! I contacted them about a major kitchen remodel in Bridle Trails , within 1 mile of their location and the person on the phone interviewed me for less than a minute and made a determination that they didn't want to do my job. I am sure that they may have some talent when it comes to construction, however their customer service is terrible.

We do not handle every type of construction project. It is unfortunate that this individual was upset that we did not provide the service he was looking to obtain. In many cases, we ask questions to help determine whether there is an option to refer the client to someone that may be able to help, when we don't perform that type of work. It is our desire to assist where possible, but in this case, it seemed to be an irritant instead. This was not our intent.

Everything went extremely well. BH was was neat in demolition, hauling away all the old debris and broken glass and rebuilding on the existing 8 foot by 10 foot crumbling concrete and gravel base. Jerry the carpenter framed in a new 8 foot tall wooden structure, using 24 panels of double pane plastic instead of glass. He installed lovely quality deep wood shelving all around the interior, wood siding on the exterior to match the siding of the main house, aluminum gutters and an attractive entry door with glass panel. Jerry kindly accommodated my wish for extra wood trim inside the house. BH installed an automatic fan, interior and exterior lighting and outlets. Electrical and plumbing lines were run out to the house. Hamid, the plumber installed a really nice pump style spigot out front. Last of all, the house was painted, inside and out. The greenhouse is both pretty and functional. It's very solid, totally calm inside during wind storms. Everyone was very considerate of my elderly mother and kept noise and mess to a minimum. As always, BH adhered to the original scope of work.
Description of Work: The old greenhouse in my mother's yard was collapsing and I wanted to replace it with something similar to the original. I called BH Contracting because they have done excellent quality work for me before. Owner Brad Wilson came by and had some good suggestions for improvement in the design that were still in keeping with the style of the old house.

Although in the end we are pleased with the high quality result, we would never use them again and I would not recommend anyone else use them for major complex projects. First, the good: - Overall the work quality is very good. We are very pleased with the final look of the deck. - Brad's on-site employees are friendly, clean, and seem to care about doing a great job. The bad: - Behind timeline: During the entire duration of the project (which was estimated in the contract to be 2 months but ultimately stretched to 7) we never felt like we were getting a straight answer from Brad on timelines or progress. His guys would not show up for 2 weeks, then work like crazy for a week, then not show up again for a while. It was very clear that Brad was juggling multiple projects but instead of being straight about it, we received an endless array of excuses and brush offs. Our project was very clearly low on his priority list the entire 7 months. - Ahead of payment schedule: We found Brad to be pushy on asking for progress payments when the related work clearly had not been completed. The contract was very much written in his favor so there was little we could do about this. Lesson learned. If you go with BH definitely red line the contract heavily. - Poor project management: We found Brad to be a poor project manager. Small details had to be reiterated multiple times, he would forget things we told him, in one case he actually simple ignored the architect's plans and built something different. In each case, instead of being customer focused we found Brad to be defensive and even combative. It wasn't clear whether he was lying or just busy juggling other projects, but either way it was a poor experience. My wife and I ended up doing a fair amount of project management in terms of dealing with sub-contractors and suppliers in order to get the project done to a satisfactory level of quality and accelerate the extremely delayed timeline. - Poor customer service: Incredibly slow to deal with punch list items. There are items that are still not complete that Brad has known about for 2 months. BH provides no communication and very poor customer service when dealing with follow up which makes for a very frustrating experience. Overall, the work quality is great, but for a complex project I would avoid BH and the headache of dealing with Brad.
Description of Work: We used BH contracting for a major deck renovation (tear down old deck, dig foundation, drive pin piles, elevated hot tub in deck, etc.). This was a complicated job for a variety of reasons.

Response from BH Contracting Services Inc
It is unfortunate that this project had to end the way that it did. We made every attempt to resolve the issues that the client stated were still present. Being in business this long we have learned that personality conflicts do occasionally occur. BH Contracting and the client both conceded that the best closure for this project was to part ways. This included mutually agreeable terms to complete the contract. BH Contracting conducts business practices in the same way as other reputable Contracting Companies in our area, often having more than one project with multiple crews working on them at any given time. We do our best to be punctual and to be respectful of our client’s time, and avoid making unnecessary trips out to the jobsite. At the same time, we try not leaving a project unfinished to go to a different project. In specific reference to the delays to the project, the brunt of the delays were due in large part to the back ordered deck railing, which accounted for three and a half months of delays. Even with personality differences, we stand behind our quality.

It is unfortunate that this member did not listen to the voicemail recording on the phone number he left a message on twice. The recording informed anyone calling that the office manager was out of the office until the 31st of March on an extended trip and also informed individuals how to contact the owner directly with questions of any kind.

BH Contracting services were exceptional from the start. While walking through the bathrooms on his first visit, Brad, the contractor, provided many helpful suggestions - he knew exactly what to suggest for any details we were unsure of. Brad's estimate for the job was detailed and complete. We found that at the end of the project, Brad's pricing was accurate, fair, and there were no surprises. Brad explained his business model on his first visit - BH Contracting uses high quality products and sub-contractors. Brad knows these products and can provide insight into the best selections for the project. Brad and Joy, the wonderful office manager, provide a list of suppliers, and names of contacts at each business. For example, at the supplier where the cabinets are made, Brad's contact Terry walked us through the selections, and even helped us create a custom design for one room. Brad and Terry followed up with a visit to our house to finalize the design concept and ensure accurate measurements. We had similar great experiences at the other supplier locations. I was particularly concerned about choosing tile designs for each of the three bathrooms, as I have no experience in doing such a project. Brad's contacts at the tile supplier patiently walked me through many color and style combinations, provided advice, and assisted until we hit on the perfect choices for our home. Larry and Tony, Brad's skilled tile installers, did a fantastic job on all the wall and floor tile. Larry worked from my rough sketch of the bathtub tile layout and the final result is even better than I imagined. Jerry, and often Brian, arrived early each morning and talked us through the plan for each day's work. They were so helpful in keeping us informed about the project, and answering all our questions. They skillfully performed a variety of carpentry work during the project, and oversaw the work as it progressed. BH Contracting was conscientious about minimizing the disruption to our household. Brad orchestrated the work on our project so that there was always a useable bathroom, while also scheduling the work to be completed on all of them as efficiently as possible. My inquiries to Brad and to Joy, whether by telephone or email, were always promptly answered. One of the aspects of BH Contracting that impressed me the most is that in addition to the fact that Brad's team are all exceptionally skilled, they are all genuinely nice people, too. We made some late changes to the project details, and everyone cheerfully helped us get exactly the final design we wanted. Every member of the team, without exception, was friendly, helpful, and considerate about cleaning up their work area each day. Everyone took the time to do their work well, and the competed project shows this. We could not be more pleased with our experience using BH Contracting.
Description of Work: We had all three of our bathrooms remodeled. The project included replacement of one bathtub, two showers, all vanities, flooring, all plumbing fixtures, wall covering (tiles), mirrors, new lighting and painting.

BH Contracting was a great company to work with from the initial consultation to the completion of the project. I had a small kids bathroom that was all original and that had finally given out to the demands of the kids. I contacted BH Contracting after finding them through Angies List and at first was not sure that they would handle a smaller job such as mine. During the initial meeting, Brad assured me that this type of smaller project was definitely within their scope and I never felt like I was a small project in all of my dealings with BH Contracting, their suppliers and subs. the bid process was straightforward, transparent and easy. Brad was able to take the budget I was wanting to work with, and was able to propose a bathroom that actually exceeded my expectations in terms of quality of materials and finishes and all this with a final cost that worked for me. I did bid the project out with two other contractors, and both were significantly higher on their initial estimates and did not offer the same quality of materials. (For example, with BH contracting I was able to get semi custom built vanity with self closing drawers, granite countertop, new tile surround and floor . . . All of this exceeded the materials included in other bids) Most importantly, the final cost of the job was within the proposed budget, with no surprises nor last minute changes. As to the actual construction process, BH Contracting provided a superior experience. All of the subs did a great job. I am very pleased with the quality of the work and would gladly have any of the subs associated with BH contracting back in my home for future work. Everyone took the time to get it done right, and was very respectful of the challenges of working in someone's home. the job site was properly prepared to protect my home during the construction process, trash removal was done and at the end of the day,, things were left as clean as possible. Working with the suppliers for bath fixtures, tile , stone and cabinets was also a fantastic experience. everyone was knowledgeable about their product lines, willing to work within budget parameters , communicative and just plain fun to work with. the whole planning and selection process was painless and professional. last, but definitely not least, the communication process was always clear, efficient and timely. Joy does a great job of handling all communication. I always knew how to reach someone and always had a speedy response to any question or comment. overall, my experience with all aspects of BHS Contracting was superior. I would definitely recommend them and look forward to using them again for future projects.

BH Contracting was extremely easy to work with and very accommodating to our needs. Joy (office manager) and Brad (contractor) made sure each of our requests was handled to our complete satisfaction (and went out of their way to make sure we were happy with the result). All of the workers and sub-contractors they used were just as easy to work with and just as concerned with our satisfaction of the work done. If something was not right, they wasted no time fixing the issue. We could not have been more pleased and recommend BH Contracting to anyone.

We contacted them for an estimate back in March. The master bath had a leak, it wasn't clear if it was in the toilet or the shower, so we wanted a complete removal and rebuild to make sure that the problem was completely cleaned up. Price was reasonable for the amount of work that they did, a lot of tile removal and rebuilding of the shower area completely as well as new vanity and wiring of new heater and fan system. We had to wait until August for a slot in their schedule, but once they started they got right to work and did the majority of the work in 2 weeks. Additional delay on the project was due to the supplier- BH worked well to get things moving as much as possible. They also were very responsive to questions and communications throughout the process. New bathroom looks great and the new tile shower is really nice.

It went terrible. See other response.
Description of Work: Evidently, the provider isn't capable of adding a garage addition on a mostly level area next to the house. See below: I have looked over your proposed project and have given it much consideration and thought. I have gone over the staging of the project all the way to how to contain the wash off for the concrete work in considering the location of your property and the difficulties it poses. At this time I am respectfully declining the opportunity to provide an estimate for your project. Thank you for considering our company and best wishes for your new garage. Seeing incredibly positive reviews on Angie's List, I contacted BH Contracting Services via their website. I explained that we had already spoken to a contractor who had given us a rather over-the-top quote for a bathroom remodel, and we were hoping to talk to another contractor. We were hoping to have the work done some time in January. Here's a tip to anyone who wants to get a bid process rolling with BH - don't talk about money upfront. It's bad form, apparently. I received a very prompt reply from a representative, who informed me that not only is BH Contracting considered a "high end" contractor, but that they were too busy to take on any new work. The exact quote from the response email was: "We are scheduled out and not currently taking any new bid requests at this time." This struck me as odd, considering that the company was offering "deals" on Angie's List, and any company that truly doesn't want new business wouldn't do so. I asked a friend to contact BH Contracting and pretend to need a kitchen remodel. Within minutes, BH Contracting responded warmly, offering to set up an appointment in late August to discuss remodeling work (which could begin in December). I contacted BH Contracting to find out why my inquiry was rejected while another wasn't, and was politely informed that BH Contracting does high end work, and even though my actual budget was never discussed, clearly my projects deserved a more "economical" contracting service. While these emails were very polite, I'm not sure why it was necessary to be dishonest about the reason; basically, my remodeling projects were considered a waste of time. I can understand not wanting to work with clients who aren't willing to spend money, but it's rude to assume that just because I have a budget, I can't be taken seriously as a potential client.
Description of Work: Work was not performed. This is simply a quick review based on contact made with the company.

Response from BH Contracting Services Inc
When an Angie’s list member is looking at our company’s many reviews, we feel that most of our past client reports gives a fair and accurate description of our customer service, quality and project costs. As many previous clients have mentioned we are not the least expensive and we feel that this information along with the other information will help let potential clients know a bit about our company. During the interview process whether it be from a phone call, emailed request or an in person meeting this is the time to see if we will be a good fit for the consumer and if the potential client will be a good fit for us. Unfortunately this project was determined not to be the right match. We regret that the communication regarding this particular bid request resulted in their frustration.

Before we started, BH Contracting owner Brad Wilson went through my house with me. He offered really good advice, suggestions and options. He submitted a detailed, itemized scope of work. We made a few changes to the scope but once it was signed, he stuck to the price and the description of improvements to the end. All the workers were conscientious, considerate and clean! All debris was cleared away. There are no gaps or holes where they shouldn't be. All construction is solid and level. The paint job is flawless. The whole place looks beautiful. I am remodeling my house in phases. I have used BH Contracting for previous remodels and they have also worked on my mom's house. Their work has always turned out better than I could have imagined. I am extremely happy with the results and the process.
Description of Work: I had BH Contracting tackle a number of projects in my house. They built a new exterior front deck and stairs. Then they remodeled a portion of the lower story of my daylight rambler. I wanted it to look less like a basement. This involved installing 8 new paneled doors with hardware and trim, 4 sets of bifold closet doors, vinyl flooring in 3 rooms, new lighting, some rewiring, wall repair, texture and paint for 3 rooms and a hallway. Base molding was added to the workroom. The exterior door received a new threshold. New vinyl flooring for the laundry room meant removal of vintage asbestos floor tile. They installed a new utility tub with cabinet as well my old washer and dryer.

A General Contractor is only as good as the subs and people he hires. Brad hired several subs who are not licensed. The work was substandard with serious and repeated problems that have to be repaired by someone other than BH Contracting. In addition, several of his subs damaged our property. The garage slab was poured twice by two different subcontractors Brad hired. The second attempt at the garage slab was done poorly and had to be repaired. When Brad of BH Contracting told us the name of the 3rd subcontractor he intended to use to do the repairs, we became suspicious about his business practices and did our own research. That subcontractor had L&I violations. BH Contracting either doesn't care or doesn't check. The concrete on the porch had similar problems and had to be jackhammered out and done a second time. The second concrete pour for the porch produced problems that involve structural integrity. The siding was done twice because of poor workmanship and still produced problems. Two attempts at the plumbing still produced leaks. The carpentry was done using the wrong type of materials, wood cut the wrong size, and incorrect procedures for building a structure exposed to weather. When we realized there were many serious problems, we hired an attorney and fired BH Contracting. We've had several Contractors look at BH Contracting's work. All have pointed out the same problems, some of which we suspected and several additional problems we weren't aware of that are far more serious. All of the Contractors have been surprised by the substandard workmanship from concrete to plumbing to carpentry. The only thing done right was by the licensed electrician Brad hired. I'm surprised Angie's List accepts advertisement money from BH Contracting. this Contractor. Our experience has shown this is not a General Contractor with integrity or skills. On the rare times Brad came to the job site, it was to collect money. He required almost 40% down to schedule the job and then didn't start it for six weeks. We discovered that is not standard with reputable Contractors. Buyer beware.

Response from BH Contracting Services Inc
We were rehired by this client based on a previous successful remodel experience involving ourselves and multiple subcontractors. In 14 years of business, we've never been in this situation where we could not resolve issues through communication and making necessary modifications to a project. We regret that a few mistakes were made in the concrete work portion of the project and we have taken responsibility for them and had them corrected. It is very unfortunate that our client lost trust in us even though we corrected these issues and these corrections were approved by the client. We feel compelled to correct some of the incorrect information that was stated about us in this report. -We use only licensed and insured subcontractors. The subcontractors used on this project were all licensed and insured. -Regarding the garage flooring subcontractor mentioned in the report that had an L&I violation; The L&I violation was concerned a business name change. -The quality of the work was inspected and signed off by the city inspectors. All permits and inspections were completed. -All materials used on the project were detailed on the architect plans and were approved by the homeowner during the design process and before we started the project. Sometimes the unforeseen can occur with a remodeling project and unfortunately in spite of our best efforts we were not able to resolve this situation and see the project through to completion. It will continue to be BH Contracting Services highest goal to meet and exceed client’s expectations. Hopefully our other reviews speak for themselves.

Brad and his team did a great job. Arrived on time the day the job started. The various contractors: drywall, electric, flooring, painting were all very professional. Completed their work efficiently and cleaned up the work area when they finished. We are very happy with the results, and I would use BH Contracting Services in the future and would recommend them to others.
Description of Work: We had a wall in our kitchen taken back by about 2 feet. Floor and ceiling required patching along with finishing the wall (drywall and paint)

Brad Wilson was punctual, clear and concise, and always took the confused and naive phone calls from us at all hours of the day. All of his crew were great, and they helped calm our nerves and walk us through every step of the process. They helped with permits, and they kept the work area clean. We now have a great guest room because of their services.
Description of Work: BH Contracting Services were hired to renovate our basement. Specifically, we had a small office that was adjacent to our attached garage and we wanted to make the office into a large bedroom by expanding it into the unused portion of our garage. This work included: framing the new bedroom, wiring for lights and plugs, insulation, hanging 2 doors, installing 1 window, and installing 2 wall mounted space heaters (1 in a bathroom & 1 in a bedroom).

A large construction project can be an expensive, disruptive and all around stressful endeavor! Fortunately, we had BH by our side to support us through the entire adventure :). Here are some reasons why we loved working with them! - Their quote was fair and very detailed - They communicated regularly and were easy to reach whenever we had questions - Their teams were professional, prompt and very hard working - not to mention totally nice! - They made special arrangements so that our dogs could continue to use the yard while the build was in-progress - They did everything we asked for but also presented other ideas for how to make the space better without costing us more money - They didn't roll their eyes when we changed our minds (okay, when I changed my mind about nearly everything!) - They moved their porta-potty on Halloween since we were afraid it would be tipped over in our front yard by hooligans - They pushed extra hard to ensure all of the work was done in time for our holiday parties We have a couple of other small projects coming up and we can't wait to work with them again!
Description of Work: BH Contracting saw us through a project that started as an outdoor porch but turned into a fully enclosed and insulated sun room! They did all of the work from digging the foundation, to framing the room and putting the finishing touches of paint on the walls.
