AMERICAN ROSE GARDEN

I bought a Big Deal coupon for yardwork but when I tried to schedule services, they rejected the job as out of their service area. I did not recall seeing that on the Big Deal T&Cs before completing the purchase, but whatever - Angie's List refunded the Big Deal amount and that was that. However, AL has been pestering me for a review ever since then, despite the fact that they refunded the service - sooo... here you go!

The job went poorly. They came out on a rainy Saturday, they were suppose to give me a design and plant choices for my yard. I thought the $99.00 was for both the back and front yards, and I was informed it was for only front or back, so I chose the front. When I bought the deal it looked like you would receive a professional drawing, in full color, of what you should do with your yard including types of plants that would work for the area.The first comment that was said was that he shouldn't have done Angie's big deal, as he worked during the week, and didn't have time for these appointments on the weekend. We walked around the yard, then we went over to his car where he took out a sketch pad of graph paper, and with his pencil drew roughly my yard, with a circle for a tree and other circles for some plants. He gave a couple of names of plants that would in this area. The car door was half open so the paper was wet from the rain, and he didn't complete my whole front yard in his drawing. He knew I didn't have the money to hire his company to do the work, and it showed in what I got for my money. I felt totally ripped off, I wasted my money for a wet piece of paper with a drawing that a five year old could've drawn. It makes me very weary to try another big deal, I don't have money to just throw away.

They did a good job. The papers got lost so they came back and redid the drawings.

We couldn't be happier with the service we received from American Rose Garden. We had incredibly invasive bamboo growing in our backyard that needed to be removed and we had no idea what to do with this space once it was removed. Tad is creative, very skilled in his profession, and he came up with the perfect solution for us. We are so grateful for Tad and his hard working team and love the end result in our backyard! Whatever your project may be, I highly recommend using American Rose Garden for quality work and great customer service.

Tad has always been a pleasure to work with. A number of times I had special situations come up where I need a quick response, and Tad has always come through for me. Tad has a good knowledge of plants and trees, and has always given sound advice when I had questions about how to proceed with something. I appreciate his flexibility and willingness to adapt to my needs. His crew is helpful and reliable. When I have a request I've always been able to reach Tad by cell phone or email, and these days it's really nice to be able to reach someone without having to play phone tag. Tad's prices are reasonable and his services are courteous and reliable. We recently sold our house and moved out of state, but I was happy to recommend American Rose Garden to the new owners. It's my pleasure to highly recommend this company.

They did a good job. It was the first time I had used them. They were professional and punctual. They gave me a quote for regular work, and it was pretty high so I don't know if I'd use them again unless it was a Big Deal.

After I purchased the big deal, I got a call from the owner who didn't want to come to my house (too far) and was also overwhelmed by the response. I'd already plunked down my $99, but I got a refund since the owner couldn't/wouldn't do the job. I don't think Angie's list does a good job of screening big deal providers as far as their willingness to travel to some locations. My gripe here is more with Angie's list than this provider.

American Rose Garden and the owner Tad were great to work with. I called Amer Rose Garden on a Friday (before the Labor Day weekend) and received a call back the next day. Tad set up an appointment with me on Monday (Labor Day, 09-03). He showed up on time and was very good about listening to what I wanted, but also reviewing the existing yard and materials on hand. (we had a previous landscaper simply not show up after starting this project). Tad is extremely knowledgeable about northwest plants. Also, he has some great ideas to extend what i was thinking about doing. Tad provided an estimate...a bit higher than a few others I had talked with...but his estimate included some extra work (replacing the loose soil/sand where some pavers were going to be installed and instead using some crushed rock to provide a better, more stable and longer lasting foundation) that others never brought to my attention. He also looked over the yard a few times and really spent some time understanding the amount of work and time involved so he could get an accurate estimate. Tad and his crew showed up on time to start the project. They worked very hard and got a lot of work done on the first day. The second day they finished and when I showed up...as they were still working...I was amazed. Everything exceeded my expectations. The pavers and plants installed were great and the rock wall (that was Tad's idea to help provide some separation from the neighbor and add a boundary to our yard) was awesome. They cleaned up everything and didn't leave any loose dirt or trash around. In fact, they even did some extra work...cleaning up some of the yard in a section that wasn't part of the project. Tad was great to work with - professional, friendly and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend American Rose Garden to anyone looking for a landscaping company. In fact, I am going to have them come back out to work on a backyard project.

I called Tad on Friday and reached him on that first call. He came out that day to give me an estimate; we agreed on a price and he had a crew out the next day, Saturday to perform the work. They completed the clean up in the amount of time quoted, hauled everything away and left the place looking great.

I called this company to care for my yard. They came out and made numerous recommendations on issues I had with my yard. The total estimate for this project was around $2,000. I agreed and after this company completed the yardwork, it rained very hard and the sod had to be reseeded. The grass did not come in as I was promised by the company. In addition, the company also blew my leaves into our flower bed. The serviceman who came out to mow the yard was so fast he ran while mowing and blowing my yard. When I asked Tad (owner) about this, he said he his serviceman can't spend more than 30 minutes on site or his company would not make money. Tad agreed to give me a complete refund, so I paid nothing for the services, which was nice. Tad was also a nice guy and always responded when I called. However, I was left with a yard that is unsatisfactory and didn't look right to me. I also didn't like how he expected his workers to literally run while working as well. I have since hired another company who properly completed the job.

I worked out perfectly! They showed up, did everything, and left it perfectly nice. Everything happened without my suggestions or supervision because I was at work myself. Fabulous!

This is the third time I have used them and they are always wonderful. I would use, and recommend them to all my friends. Everything was done as promised and it is clear from the way that they all work together that there is much respect between the boss and the crew.

Tad called to confirm the job the day before. They arrived on time and went right to work. Tad consulted me several times to clarify what needed to be done and make suggestions. He and his crew of 4 went beyond my request with cleaning up some dead perrenials, pruned my wisteria, cleaned up the large gravel driveway and overall were amazing in what they did and how well they did it. When they left I had the feeling they had done my place like he would have done his own. He LOOKED around alot and went above and beyond what I had seen to make the place look fabulous. I will get them back in the spring to help with winter clean up and more. Great Experience!!

They were fabulous. They were on time. They worked hard and didn't goof around. They probably did 3 times as much as I asked them to do just by their cleanup and tidiness. When they walked away, it looked like they had been doing it for themselves. It was perfect and there was not a leaf out of place. I was totally amazed. They had the best price of the quotes I got, especially with all the work they did. I plan to use them again.

The entire process when great and I couldn't be happier! Ted took plenty of time speaking with me to estimate and plan the job, and he made many wonderful landscaping and plant suggestions, but also respected my financial limits. We compromised on the plan of what he could do with what I could spend and he not only did what he had promised, but more. His team of workers were skilled and respectful of my property. Ted treated them all well, and he worked along side them most of the time. I was never left wondering who to speak with if I had a question because he was right there. He also worked very closely with me on where the plants and new tree were to be placed. I don't think that they took out or damaged one thing that I wanted to remain. He and his team started exactly on time both days. They cleaned up everything including the street and even across the street to the neighbors side where a few leaves had blown. The quality of the plants were also very good. In addition to removing the hawthorn, he trimmed and shaped my pink dogwood and japanese maple. Both are much improved!

My wife met Tad and was very impressed right from the beginning. Very knowledgeable about local plants and had some great idea's. After meeting with two other contractors we called Tad back and asked him to go ahead with the job. WOW-what a find thanks to Angies list. He came with his crew of 5 and in 3 days completely transformed or garden. Spent most of the first day cyttung back a hedge that hadn't been trimmed for 5 years. Initially he was unaware that we also wanted both sides of the hedge trimmed which was a huge job. Upfront mentioned there would some additional dump fee charges but I trusted that he would be honest and fair-which he was. The next two days he went though our entire yard-what a transformation. As mentioned- he is incredibly knowledgeable about Northwest plants,shrubs and trees.Moved spme plants that were not getting enough sun.Cut/divided bulb plants all over the garden. Moved Rhodi's/ferns etc. Can't say enough positive things-overall great experience from a great person who in addition was completely honest,open and a pleasure to work with-what a find-plan to have him back every year to keep the yard under control

He recommended aeration and some pointers for the yard as well. His bid for the job was in the same neighborhood as others. We were impressed but ultimately decided on another provider, no huge difference though just one small thing which was mentioned by the other provider that seemed to make my husband choose him but probably would have been an end result here as well.

My yard needed a good cleanup, I called Tad and he returned my call promptly. He came out to give and estimate within a couple of days. He listened carefully to my wishes and made really good suggestions about the plants that needed cleanup. He knew which plants could take a strong trimming and which could not. I initially wanted his crew to also put down bark but that was going to be a lot more money, so I settled on having him weed the entire area, trim many trees, pull out 4 stumps about 8 inches in diameter, remove three large shrubs and generally make the yard look good. He also put down an herbicide to keep the weeded areas looking good. The work was scheduled about two weeks later. He came out with 4 extra guys who worked on the stumps. Two remained after that to help with the rest of the work. They arrived promptly and worked until about 2 PM. When they neared completion, I walked the yard with Tad and asked him to trim up a couple more things. They had done a beautiful job.

The owner seems to care as much for your garden as he would do for his own. He makes the project his own, which is great. I intend to use them again.

I bought a deal on Angie's list for a landscape assement/Analysis and more. The description said that it included a conceptual diagram. Having worked with profession landscaping companies before I had a specific set of expectations from a conceptual diagram and offcourse $99 sounded like an awesome deal. To my dismay - this was a complete rip-off. All I got back was a shabby hand drawn piece of paper. Frankly it looked like some kid had done a little doodle on the paper. The person who came by was a real nice guy but the service he provided was not anywhere worth the $99 I paid for it.

American Rose Garden (owner, Tad) has been mowing our yard for several months. Since we've been pleased with that work, we gave them the opportunity to install a front yard fence, replace some back yard fencing and plant privacy trees in our back yard. We were quoted a very fair price for the amount of work to be done. We could not be more pleased with the results! Privacy trees: Our back yard borders five other neighbors, creating a fish bowl effect. After consulting with Tad, his team planted 20+ Leland Cyprus to create a privacy hedge. He was able to get 8-10ft trees that were very healthy. They were planted far enough apart to allow for tree growth and look great. It's been a month since the new trees were planted and they are thriving! We can't wait for them to fill out and become a living wall. Fencing/rock wall/staining: The new fence is gorgeous! Initially, we were somewhat apprehensive about installing a front yard fence but are glad to say it's boosted our curb appeal. We've had so many positive comments from friends and neighbors. It is very clean looking, nice caps on the posts and stained. Tad checked and double checked fence measurements. He spoke with us constantly to make sure we approved of fence dimensions and appearance.Every single post has concrete holding it down. We found out during the fencing process that our rock wall was falling apart and the fence needed more support in that area. Tad's team built a new wall and improved the existing one. A large section of rotting fence in our back yard was also replaced. It all looks great. We had one hiccup during the entire project. There was a problem with the way the fence stain initally turned out. I'm including the problem on the report (and still giving an A+) because we were very impressed with the way it was handled. The owner immediately addressed and corrected the issue within 24 hours; he even came out and repainted some himself. The stain looks perfect now. Tad's attention to detail is impeccable and he was hands on during the entire landscaping project. The team was friendly, cleaned up after themselves and worked fast. I would use American Rose Garden again and highly recommend them to others.

Tad and his crew of 5 were at our house for 2.5days for extensive yard work (0.5 acre). The experience was overall outstanding, they did a great job weeding and cleaning everything, mulching, choosing and planting new plants where it was needed. Tad makes you feel as if he is caring for his own yard and plants; he is very passionate and dedicated to his project(s). I will call Tad's crew from now on when major yard work is needed.

Overall, the work went very good. They came on time and did a pretty clean job. They weren’t very expensive. I was very happy with them.

Tad provided a quick and accurate estimate, returned phone calls promptly, and did excellent work. His crew showed up when promised, and did everything exactly as discussed. My neighbors all commented on the wonderful work of his crew. I would absolutely recommend American Rose Garden and would use them again if I need work done.

I have used them twice and my views are both positive and negative. The first time they were very good, but the last time was very unpleasant. They did work which they were not supposed to and didn’t do work which they were supposed to. They trimmed trees and bushes which they were not supposed to and didn’t trim the trees and roses which they were supposed to. They were fairly priced the first time, but later everything changed. I will not use their services in future.
