They just came to do some maintaining of the work they've done the year before.

It was amazing. Woody and his crew were at our place for 6 or 7 days in the summer of 2010 to grade and level the area for the patio, add gravel and sand, then place pavers. They constructed a seat wall around the area, created a second level within the patio area and placed 2 ft high stones at transition points. Woody worked with us to create the design we wanted, and worked with a second contractor who was constructing a pergola. They worked seamlessly and got everything constructed just as we had discussed. I am writing this review today to say that 7 years after the work was done, it is still in fantastic shape. The pavers are all completely level and solid, thanks to Woody's crew's conscientious work. Everything has held up perfectly and we are as happy seven years later as we were when it was first constructed. How often can you say that? We would highly recommend this company!

Used wrong glue the first time and it continued leaking. Came back and fixed right away.

It is my pleasure to recommend Woody’s Custom Landscaping. I had been wanting to have a patio with a pergola put in on one end of my backyard for quite some time. The area had a slope and over the years, I planted some junipers and other shrubs to cover it the ground. Finally I decided this summer to get it done. I realized it was rather late to have this done during the summer but I thought I would try anyway. So in June, I called three hardscape contractors, Woody being one of them and of course all three said that they were booked out through October. One of them wasn’t even taking any bids until July and didn’t even want to come to the house to look at the project. Instead he wanted me to send him pictures over the phone which I did. Three time he said he would call me which he didn’t and I would end up calling him each time; I always like to give people the benefit of the doubt but after the third time, I decided he wasn’t as customer service orientated as he advertised. The other contractor’s estimate was way out of my range. Woody was the only one who came through. He was very forthright – he said that they were also booked and probably couldn’t get to my project until September but he would try to fit me in when he could. I was impressed by his design ideas – presenting creative ideas in an area which I thought was very challenging. His estimate was very reasonable for the work that was done. Woody, with his lead, Darren and his crew team, actually started the project mid-August and finished the project probably in a week when the temperature was over 90 degrees. They removed shrubs, junipers, rocks and excavated the area to be worked on, put in an 11 x 11 (lower patio) & 4 x7 paver patio (upper patio), 19 x 2 retaining wall and built in steps to the upper patio, 2 paver pathways. I also purchased a pergola kit which they together. The whole project turned out great and I am very happy with the work. Woody’s crew team arrived on time every day, always cleaned up the area each day and were always polite, respectful and friendly. Thank you Woody and your crew team for the terrific job!

We wanted to comment on dealings we had with this particular contractor so far. Of all the contractors we have spoken with, Woody stands out above the rest! Just his willingness to work with us on our terms and timeline has spoken volumes to us about how he does business. We have had to cancel and reschedule multiple times due to some unforseen circumstances. He has always handled it like the true professional that he is. We have also changed our plans with the project, and he has been nothing but accomadating as well as very helpful in trying to make our vision a reality. From our conversations with him, we can tell he knows what he is doing because he had some very unique suggestions for us for which we feel can only make our landscape more functional as well as beautiful. We feel that in addition to his knowledge, years of experience, the fact that he appears to make customer service the focal point of his business, we have found the right company for us. We look forward to working with him, and will comment on how the project turns out once it is completed.

Woody's Landscaping created a brand new back yard, including retaining wall, irrigation, and sod. We were extremely pleased with the results and appreciated the crew's attention to detail, which included clean-up at the end of each day. We would not hesitate to hire Woody's Custom Landscaping again for any future projects.

To sum it, everything went extremely well from bid to completion. Woody has a great reputation, so I called to discuss the project with him and he promptly came out for a site visit. After reviewing the project, he referred me to Gregg and Ellis Landscape Designers to advise on layout and tree/plant recommendations. Carolyn Gregg put together a very well thought out planting plan, with an interesting variation of plants and trees. Carolyn made 2 visits and delivered a formal rendering of her plan, with choices and plant lists. Total cost for the consulting and plan was $400, and worth every penny. I handed the plan off to Woody and he promptly provided a fair bid and scheduled the work. The two days they performed the work, turned out to be two of the wettest days on record in the Portland/Vancouver area. They were scheduled to show up at 7:30am, and they were here at exactly that time. Despite the monsoon-like conditions, the crew did a careful job of keeping damage to existing lawn to an absolute minimum as they hauled yards of soil and heavy trees across the property to the work site. Woody and I made some changes on the fly, and he had some good suggestions and was very accommodating. The crew was courteous, professional, very hard working and left a spotless job site upon completion. Woody's reputation is well deserved, and I would recommend him without hesitation for any landscaping job, large and small. It was a terrific experience at a fair price.

The workmen came with their machine and scooped up the rocks, weeds and volunteer trees and dumped them into a drop box. There were lots of rocks, some quite large. The end result is a nice flat area, covered with mulch and seeded with grass. They even restored the graveled parking area that had been churned up by the equipment. It will be so easy to maintain now by just mowing. I'm totally satisfied.

We hired Woody's Custom Landscaping, Inc. to install a stone wall with drainage, flagstone patio, screen lattice and gravel road for access to the west side of our property. They showed up on time each day of the project, cleaned up after themselves, stayed within our budget and were very responsive to our questions. They installed a 3-inch poly sleeve on each end of the wall for future projects like a water feature or lighting. Crew mates Darren and Chris built a beautiful custom lattice screen on site using just a vague idea from us and a photo of a similar design. We'll put in landscape plants later. This is the second time we've hired Woody's Custom Landscaping for a project, and we are very happy to recommend them to others.

After interviewing several different landscape companies in the Vancouver, WA area, for a large project in our new backyard, we chose to work with Woody's Custom Landscaping. Others were either not up to the job or wanted to press their own design. Woody not only saw our vision but was able to contribute several enhancements. With a compound sloping yard, Woody was able to install three beautiful retaining walls with steps descending to patios on each level. Pathways were constructed of slabs of irregular stone which added artful but rustic beauty. He gave us sound advice on the selection of trees and plants with low maintenance, picked them up from the nursery and planted them. We have had Woody do a couple of landscape jobs for us and will probably use him again. He is very good at visualizing what the completed project will look like and offers good suggestions. His crew is good at getting the work done in a timely manner.

They took a useless piece of dirt on the Southside of my house and turned it into a beautiful landscaped paver patio with a propane fire pit.

I think he was knowledgeable. He tried to push the price up.

Woody's estimate was professionally done. He was upfront about the difficulty of keeping the fill material from slumping when the old wasll was removed, and the problems of working around an existing shed, and next to the neighbor's fence. His estimate was not the least expensive, but he was highly recommended, and gave lots of references, so we were sure we were in good hands. We were not disappointed. The wall is what we wanted, and increases the level area we use for parking our fifth wheel trailer. The Manor Stone makes a much sturdier wall and is attractive fro the neighbors to look at. The crew were courteous and professional despite having to work in three days of rain. Their clean up was also exemplary.

Of all the estimates received Woody was the only one who actually took his time to examine the project and come up with sound, reasonable recommendations. The of the job Woody and his crew were at the site bright and early as he so stated. They immediately unloaded their equipment and started to work. They worked quickly and efficiently ensuring the job was done right to customer satisfaction. After completing the project they efficiently cleanup the site and the end result was truly outstanding! Woody and his crew were courteous, respectful and professional at all times. I must definitely look forward to future customer landscaping with Woody and his crew. Very satisfied indeed with the results of their work.

Woody provides a great service! When Woody came out to see the site and here my concept, he instantly knew what we needed. He provided a list of materials for us to choose from that met our specs. He recommended a lawn that I had never heard of, and was frnakly a little worried about, but it has more than met the expectations that he gave us. His crew was on time, professional and very corteous. They finished a day early and the site was cleaner than when they arrived. I would highly recommend Woody to anybody in need of a landscaper.

We needed a fairly small area in front of our house landscaped as soon as possible as our daughter is getting married in our back yard this fall and the area had been sorely neglected and was pretty ugly. Woody referred us to someone to work with in planning, and then was able to work us into his schedule and get the job done a full month ahead of our event. And after the work was done he came back and addressed some of our concerns about how the plants had been installed. All in all it was a very good experience and we would definitely use Woody's Landscaping again and refer friends and family to him.

We got a bid but they wanted me to use an external source that was several hundred dollars. They couldn't tell me how much to do a creative drawing. They gave me a bid but they didn't give me a full bid because of that. They wanted me to spend a secondary amount of money to do a creative drawing. I was not comfortable with doing that. I just wanted an accurate bid with out paying any money up front. They are very competent and professional. Woody himself came out and did the bid. I didn't have any doubt he could do a great job. They are the ones I would have had do it if they did not ask for the extra stuff that I didn't want to do. The price was a little high. It was more expensive that the other companies I dealt with.

My overall experience was very positive. Any miscommunications were cleared up quickly and in a professional manner.

We were considering adding a retaining wall around a large area of our property. Woody came out early in the morning (as planned) to provide a free estimate. He gave us a variety of options (different materials, etc) to try to minimize the cost and left us with a catalog of materials too.

Overall, Woody's crew did great work. Woody himself responded right away to my request for an estimate. He was knowledgeable and personable, as were his crew members. He bid the job accurately and fairly. They completed the job on time, and the quality looked good. There was one spot that presented a problem, and they didn't fix it right the first time. I called about it, and they came out to try to fix it again, but again it wasn't done quite right. Finally, on the third call they came and did it right. To be fair, it was a challenging area, and Woody didn't charge anything beyond his initial bid. I would definitely hire these guys again.

On time, polite, capable crew...daily oversight by Woody...able to offer suggestions for additions/changes to original plans as needed...total clean up every day...
