It went really smoothly. Seth came out for the estimate. He was friendly and knowledgable. The workers showed up early as scheduled and completed the work quickly and efficiently. The crew leader went over the work being done and allowed me to ask questions. They did not leave a mess and were careful not to disrupt the landscaping too much. I was pleased with the work done. I will likely hire them again in the future to install a pump.

Our house sits on the bottom of a slope, with a basement and garage basically below ground level. With the heavy rains this year and in past years, water has leaked through our foundation and into our garage, up to 5 gallons per day. During the heaviest rains, it would also seep into our utility room in the basement, maybe a quarter-gallon per day. The first company we called had one answer - sump pump. They wanted to dig a trench around the entire interior of our garage and utility room with jackhammers, to actually allow the water to seep in so it could be collected then drained to a noisy, vibrating sump pump located just below our bedroom. And they never addressed the exterior drainage. We knew they did not have the right answer for our needs! Then we called Drainage Masters, who we had used previously for smaller jobs. What we wanted was to prevent the water from entering our house in the first place. To do this, they: 1) Added a new concrete berm around an existing catch basin on the property at the top of our back yard slope, to collect runoff from their property and prevent it from draining into our property. 2) Installed a new catch basin below that (on our property), where residual runoff would be collected and funneled to existing drain pipe which they installed on a previous job. 3) Install new French drain (25 feet long) behind our back deck to catch any remaining rainfall and runoff missed by the upper basins. This also drains into the same pipe as above (which runs alongside our property, and outlets in our driveway before being collected by sewer drain in street) 4) Alongside the house, they regraded that whole area to slope away from the house instead of towards it, adding river rock over the existing dirt/mud for stability, erosion control and walkability. Inside the house, they added Tamoseal waterproofing material alongside the bottom of our foundation wall in the garage and utility room. They also plugged a big hole and some smaller cracks in the foundation which had direct leakage and were the cause of about 95% of our water intake. They came to do this part of the job within a week, which was a huge relief to us. We had previously been bailing out a 5-gallon bucket of water daily from the garage, or using the shop vac daily to clean up any water that we couldn't collect. The rest of the job was booked about a month out, not surprising given the heavy weather and demand for their services. I cannot say enough about the professionalism, hard work and positive attitude of the crew at Drainage Masters. Same as when we've worked with them in the past, the owner Seth comes out and does a thorough walk through to gain an understanding of the property and the customer's needs. Even though Seth was not present for the work, we feel that very little was missed, it was as if his crew captain had been there all along. The only issue we had when they were done, was that only half of the regraded area alongside the house was covered with river rock, and the rest was left muddy. However, once I mentioned this to the crew captain, he immediately offered to use the remainder of the rock they had on site to finish the entire area. It now looks complete, and is very walkable without having to muddy up your shoes, and it will prevent mud from flowing into our driveway during the heavy rains. It has been nearly a full month since all work was completed, and we are so happy to report that we have not had a single drop of water in the house since then, and our backyard doesn't puddle up or create impromptu rivers or waterfalls anymore, even in the heaviest of rains. We sleep so much better at night, knowing our house will stay dry even during the wettest storms.

The first time I called Drainage Masters for a drainage issue they "scoped" my underground drainage system and offered a proposal which I accepted. I was NOT at my house when they came by to "scope" my yard. Work was scheduled; they came out & partially completed the job but told me there was a problem they couldn't identify & would come back. They said there was a blockage. (I later found out there was no blockage they had run into a large 15' French Drain) The second time I called about additional drainage issues & again asked them to scope my underground drainage system to identify the problem. When Steve (owner/estimator) & Jordan showed up they didn't have the equipment I thought would be used to see what was happening underground. I also showed Steve the original underground drainage plan. He told me these plans may not be correct. I rec'd a proposal of $4800 to do the additional work. Prior to accepting the proposal I emailed Drainage Masters asking to see a video of the yard scoped and rec'd an email response stating they had no scoping video & that I would have had to "order" the video scope. As I read that I began to wonder how a drainage company could make recommendations w/o knowing what was going on underground. I called another company who came out with a scope w/ a video camera, a TV which I could watch the scoping & a locator showing where all the underground pipes were. The scoping videos showed all pipes clear, no blockages or roots and the original drainage system I showed to Steve, was exactly what was shown. The suggested remedy Drainage Masters proposed would have not corrected anything & would have cost me $4800. I do not understand why a company called Drainage Masters would not have automatically brought the industry equipment to identify the drainage system & what was necessary to do the work right.
Description of Work: Addressed a drainage issue. The first time I used Drainage Masters the work performed was ok. The second time they came out & made a proposal was disturbing.

After a couple of schedule conflicts early in the process, Drainage Masters was able to free up some time to take care of my project. The crew arrived on time, introduced themselves, and assured that they would take good care of my landscaping. They said that I "wouldn't even know we were here" when they were through. They were right! The work was difficult, but the crew did it in a cheerful, professional manner. The were very careful to make the landscape look just like before. There were no lost plants or damaged hardscape. The crew cleaned up during and after the work. They would get an A++ if it weren't for the early scheduling issue. The early problem was likely due to a full schedule, probably more work than their crews could handle all at once. That said, this company definitely did right by me, and I am very happy with the work they did for me. Now that we have experienced repeated heavy rains, I noticed some other drainage issues in the back garden area. I will have Drainage Masters bid on a 'fix' for the areas that had pooling. Would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: Camera scoped rain drain to ensure no blockage/breaks, then installed three new downspout drains.

The work was done in one day with terrific results as we had two huge rainstorms shortly after the job was done. It was satisfying to see the water shooting down the gutters with such force and volume without any problem. We had a small misunderstanding about some continued puddling on the driveway and they were more than happy to return to remedy that area. These guys are true professionals when it comes to drainage. Great crew. Cleaned up after themselves, courteous and friendly. Heather in their office was great to work with as well. She was great at communicating all of the scheduling details and got back to me without delay. Would use again and would recommend to anybody.

We called 3/2/2015 because water was backing up in the back yard at the surface drain. We felt there was a blockage in the rain drain system. They could not come until the end of March 2015. We were given 2 quotes, 1 for $150 if it was just to clear a blockage. They came the middle of April to do a scoping of the rain drainage system. Report and estimate for the job to correct the drainage systems was completed the third week of April. The first date it could be booked was 2 months out, but we were not available so we scheduled another weeks later. They came out with a full team and were able to perform practically all but filling the trenches and exposing the drains and curb drain system for inspection. A couple of days later, the work was completed. The only hiccup was cutting the Internet/TV/phone line in the narrow corridor of the yard, but Drainage Masters offered to pay for a new line dropped and buried. The price was steep and we had hoped to lower it by removing existing French drain or existing drain rock and soil but were told that it could be contaminated and should be removed by them.
Description of Work: Installed rock French drains along one side of property and a sand French drain, working, correcting nonfunctioning drainage systems, connecting to catch basin and connect to roof drain system. On opposite side of only existing route to street on one side, on the other side, collected existing rain drain system and routed to street, hand digging due to narrow corridor between driveway and property line. Required removing and replacing one 4' sidewalk panel.

Awesome. Steve Kenworthy was the estimator - he is a real professional and was the reason I chose this provider versus others (their good reviews were also a reason). Steve knows his stuff, understood what affect wanted and provided us with options to address our required functionality and also ensure that the asthetics that we wanted were maintained. He helped us make good decisions, and I completely trust his advice. The work crew was also awesome. They arrived on time, were totally organized and well staffed with an excellent team leader and a surprising number of really impressive workers. They had the right equipment and had the job done quicker than we expected. We couldn't be happier and sleep better knowing that the home and land we love is not at risk. Their office staff is also first rate. This is an excellent company!
Description of Work: 1. extended roof drain pipe on east side of lower yard to ditch (125 feet) - installed river rock delta at outfall 2. extended two pipes on west side of lower yard to pavement (200 feet) 3. installed drain rock french drain along lower edge of lower yard approx 85' x 1.5' deep x 1.25' wide. Make top of french drain 18" wide. Connec to new pipe in #1 above

We have a problem with flooding in our crawl space after very heavy rains. I had installed a sump pump to deal with this, but it was not a satisfactory workaround. I got proposals from 3 different contractors. Drainage Masters' proposal made the most sense in terms of the solution and cost-effectiveness. They gave me a work date weeks in advance. I've never had a contractor who stuck to such a precise schedule. When the team of workers showed up, the supervisor introduced himself, and said if I had any questions, feel free to ask. Also, fine if I wanted to take photos. One of the unknowns in this project was whether we had an existing but not-yet-identified low-point drain. There should have been one, as it was a code requirement when this house was built (1990). The guys used a camera to scope the rain drain system, and this did not reveal any connections from the crawl space. They were able to add a Y connector and hook up a low point drain to the existing system. The ditches ran from a high point to the low point, and were filled with drain pipe and gravel. Then the entire crawl space was covered with new black plastic. Overall, I was impressed with the workers--they were all very quiet and polite, worked very hard, knew what to do, and accomplished it very efficiently.

They really were very knowledgeable and kept us informed of all progress. They worked long and hard until they ran out of daylight, so needed to return the next day to lay the vapor barrier. My crawlspace is in my back room closet, so they laid plastic protection down as to not damage the carpet or flooring. They cleaned up very well. I have a 10 year guaranty, which is transferable if we were to sell the house. They found some mold on the foundation and let me know approximate where it was located in the crawlspace. I am going to follow up with an inspection and solution to this issue next. I also got a 5% Angie's List discount, which was terrific. Thank you Drainage Masters employees for all your dedication in doing a job right.
Description of Work: We had a problem with standing water under our home even with our sump pump. I had a french drain installed around the inside perimeter of the crawl space to existing pump. Low points were verified, checked sump pump and the installation to verify angles and flow were correctly installed, checked back flow to verify working correctly, checked gutters and replaced contaminated vapor barrier.

My driveway flooded 2-3 inches deep with every rain. Steve came out, explained my options, then designed a perfect solution that also looks pretty. When the crew got here to do the work, they discussed it with me to make sure they understood what I wanted, then got right to work and worked non-stop until it was done. They did a beautiful job and cleaned everything up when they were done. I'm very happy with the result.

These guys did a great job of understanding the problems with our old house's terribly designed gutter drainage system, the limitations of its failing dry well, the cause of water backing up into the crawlspace and the problems of accumulating water from an expansive driveway. They designed a simple yet robust drainage system that collects runoff from a number of downspouts & catchbasins across a fairly long distance around a sprawling house. Taking maximum advantage of the site, they attached everything to a single, gently-sloping main line to a shallow grass swale out back, delivering all the water back into the environment where it would naturally go. If you're the kind of person who admires clever engineering, this one is simple elegance. It is exactly the right solution for this property. The inspector said "this is most beautiful drainage system I've ever seen". It was late summer, so the grass didn't recover as well as they said it would, and the ground is slightly depressed all the way along the main line through the grass. A couple of the downspouts were a slightly crooked and splattered with blue PVC cement. But these are really minor complaints. Overall, superb design and good implementation. I sometimes go out when its pouring rain, watch all the water spill out on the grass, and unseen, weep at the beauty of this masterwork.
Description of Work: Completely re-implemented drainage of a 3000 sq foot house on a 1 acre lot using a 4" main line and several tributary lines. Installed a catch basin to drain a large concrete driveway. Built a simple, reliable swale to replace a failing dry well.

Steve came out and listened to all our concerns and came up with solutions that were both reasonable and equitable. Their estimate was middle of the road of the ones we received. Steve's son and partner Seth, and Chris and the crew were all so easy to work with, honest, dependable and very knowledgeable. They took care of all our concerns above and beyond! I was in close contact with Heather, who works in the office, and she answered all our calls in a very timely manner with a great combination of being both personable and professional. Their work exceeded our expectations. We have had NO drainage problems at all; and considering some of the storms we have had in the past year, it was nice to no longer have mini lakes in the yard! We are very happy with the work that was completed. Our yard was left very neat and tidy and had we not been here watching the show from the windows, we never would have known the amount of heavy work that was performed. These guys really rock! We would use them all over again if we move to another place with drainage problems. We highly recommend Drainage Masters to take care of your drainage needs!

Service doesnt get much better than what I received. The owner of the company came on his day off, out of his own willingness, and spent about an hour thinking and brainstorming possible solutions to my problem. He then returned back out to my property the next day to collaborate with the plumbing contractor and reached an answer. I was treated above and beyond the scope of what most companies would treat their customer (Putting the needs of clients above one own's needs). He took on my project, with no expense to me, to help me locate and solve this drainage problem. He was the perfect gentleman. Everything was neat, orderly, and thoughtful.

They came to our residential property and removed the entire back yard, graded the surface to drain properly, installed drainage tubes around the perimeter, installed good soil and planted grass seed in only one day. Ensured that the sprinklers were working and had me with a fully functional backyard by the end of the day. I just had to wait for the grass to grow in. My lawn is nice and neat and does not have winter flooded spots anymore.
