Better Air Northwest

Better Air arrived on time, made sure they understood the work and finished the job quickly. It was really fast so I went down and looked through the duct - it was shiny, clean. But here is the amazing part - our dryer has rattled for years from debris that we thought was in the drum and could not get to. Cody and Jason figured out where the noise was coming from - 10 dimes and 4 paper clips had slipped into the fins. They had never seen this before and this was not really part of the job. These guys are GOOD.

Had a very positive experience. Joel and Caleb came on time, calling beforehand to confirm that they might be a bit delayed due to traffic. Joel was very enthusiastic and passionate about his job and had a true desire to help and do the best job he could. Caleb did a good job as well. They thouroughly cleaned all the vents and the furnace. Joel volunteered to help me exchange the air filters which was very nice of him. Caleb cleaned the dryer vent which took him just a few minutes. They were explained to me every step of the process which was very educational and kept me updated of what's going on. I felt they did a good job and the price with 10% discount for a house my size plus dryer vent was pretty competitve. I'd use this company again.

Matt and his crew bent over backwards in performing the services we hired them to do. We not only had them clean our ducts, but had them do an anti-mold process. The end product was a reduction in mold of about 50%. This seems to have helped my family quite a bit in the improved cleanliness of air department. Thanks a million Better Air Northwest.

Joel and Caleb arrived on time as promised. They discovered that half our heating ducts were not performing. Joel spent extra time repairing the ducts. When that was done, they continued with the vacuuming and cleaning. Caleb repaired the connections in the dryer duct and then vacuumed it. They were both very pleasant and hard working. The whole house now received full heating.

They arrived on time, cleaned the dryer vents and checked the HVAC ductwork. They were young, energetic, and did a great job. When we get ready to have our HVAC ductwork cleaned, we'll definitely call them.

They did a meticulous job. It took a little over four hours. They also cleaned the electrostatic filters on the furnace that were due for a cleaning. I had put my cats in one large room and when they had to go in there to clean the two ducts, they were very careful not to let the cats out of that room. Once finished, they really cleaned up well after themselves. It was an outstanding job all around. Their charge depends on the size of the house. For my 2400 sq.ft they charged $349.00, but substracted the $ 50.00 I had paid the week before for the dryer vent.

Can not think of any improvements from start to finish. They were excellent.

My first contact with Better Air Northwest's office was very positive. When we scheduled my appointment they said they would be at my house between 8:00 am - 8:30 am. The morning of the service Joel called promptly at 8:00 am to let me know they were on their way and would be at my house at 8:10 am. They arrived on time. Joel and Caleb were very thorough. They explained the process in detail and actually showed me the tools they would be using to clean the air ducts. Both were professional, conscientious and very positive. Both knew their job thoroughly and performed their work with ease. I am 100% completely satisfied with Better Air Northwest and highly recommend calling them for your air duct cleaning!

Excellent service by both technicians who arrived promptly after calling ahead that they would be about 15-20 minutes late for our scheduled appointment. (The calling ahead is a real courtesy!) They did the inspection perfectly and with respect for our property and us. One of them even carried our dog away from the vacuum noise. They explained every detail of their work, they both have extensive experience and showed us that they did. They cleaned the furnace chamber, every vent with the extended vacuum hoses and replaced the air filter in the furnace with the new one I had already purchased. A pleasant surprise! They even cleaned the air return registers in the ceiling - - and - - the dryer vent to remove all dust and pollutants! No additional charge. The duct cleaning every three years will be done by BETTER AIR NW based upon this first experience. Oh, did I mention that they cleaned everywhere they went and vacuumed the carpeting where the vents were exposed. Yessir! In this age of shoddy workmanship,scamsand untrue claims of service and promises not kept (our previous experience with other companies where we've lived elsewhere) it is a real "find" to have made our selection of this company, they they have employed two great service techs who knew their stuff and had great personalities!.

Overall the service went just fine. They did not access the dryer vent from any other area than where the outside vent was.

Matt arrived on time, went right to work. Made sure he cleaned the entire vent, cleaned up the removed lint. Very professional individual.

They called to confirm their expected time of arrival and asked if could they come about an hour early - which worked fine for me. Excellent job. Explained what they were doing along the way. Very friendly and professional. Definitely would use them again.

They were kind and courteous. They were a little late because of morning traffic but otherwise did what they said they would do. They pointed out problem areas and discovered that my dryer duct was in pieces. The only complaint I had was when they left they left some lights on. These guys showed pride in their work and I was comfortable having them in my home. They actually found a mouse in one of the ducts and I was quite happy that they got rid of it!

They worked really hard. They had 3 people for 4 ½ hours. The owner came out with 2 helpers. They were very courteous and respectful. They work really hard for their money. They cleaned all vents and went into the attic. They found a vent that wasn’t connected and repaired it. They did really good work. I would definitely keep them on my list to have them back out.

I was extremely impressed by the work Matt did in my house. I scheduled for the basic cleaning plus sanitizer as the last people who had just moved out smoked in my house! This was what prompted me to have the vent cleaning done, but after seeing the incredibly hard work they did and the results from it, I am definitely going to have this service done anytime I move into a house. I was stunned at how much lint came out of the dryer vent, and I change my lint trap regularly! Matt had to crawl under my deck to get to the dryer exit vent and when he was finished he was covered from head to toe in white dryer dust! I also had the greyish residue around my vents which he informed me was from dirty vents blowing out dirty air. Ew! If you have that too, get your vents cleaned! The house is so much fresher now. I have had a lot of work done by many types of professionals, and I can honestly say that this is the best value for the money! They work very hard for every dollar! If you have allergies, I would definitely consider this service.

Matt and Chris were great. It took them 4 hours to complete the job, as Matt the owner said when scheduling. They were very respectful, polite and cleaned up after themselves. The whole time they explained and showed what they were doing. Matt was great with my kids ages 6 and 4 who were so curious. He took the time to explain and show them what he was doing and he did it with great enthusiasm. After seeing how much dust and junk came out of our vents we will be having Matt and crew back every 3 years for a cleaning and at least once a year for sanitation due to family members with allergies and asthma. We could not be happier with this company.

In October of 2010 we started smelling a moldy smell in our basement. We had a mold and mildew inspection service come over at that time who recommended that we hire someone to clean the ducts. I looked on Angies list and found a duct cleaning company with an A rating who I hired to clean the ducts (I will not mention the name of that company in this review), and they came and spent about 1 hour vacuuming out the ductwork. Having never had this service performed before, I assumed that they were doing an appropriate job. 6 months later, we against started smelling the mold, so I hired a whole house inspector to give me a status on all the systems in the entire house. He discovered that we had a leak in our central air conditioning system, and also suggested that we would benefit from a new furnace. I got a few quotes and picked a company (who I shall review elsewhere on this site) to replace the furnace and service the central air. When they came out to do this work, they also took a look at the ductwork in the house, and found that the ducts not only still contained mold, but where full of other lint and debris that had built up over many years of accumulation (which means that the first company did an extremely poor job of cleaning. The heating and cooling professional suggested that we call Matt at Better Air Northwest to get a thorough duct cleaning. Even though he already had a full schedule, Matt said he would get out to our house ASAP even if it meant working at night, so that our air conditioning and furnace install could be completed the following day and we would not have to wait for a him to have a clear schedule. He came out with his crew and did a very thorough job, even to the point of pulling out a newspaper dated 12/24/1972 from the ductwork. He worked until 8:30 PM to get the entire job done, and really pulled out masses of nasty stuff from the ductwork. He also cleaned out our dryer vent when he was done with the rest of the work. What a great job, and great guy!!! I was so impressed with him, that I am having him come up and do work on our other home in Hood River. He will definitely be a person that I recommend to all of my friends as well as Angies List readers. If there were higher than A ratings, Matt would certainly receive them.

If Matt would have done the work, maybe I would have been more satisfied.. he sent a crew. I dont notice any better air quality.

I just purchased a new house and decided to use air duct services before we moved in. I called them based on a friend's referral. They have fixed price based on the square footage of a house which covers all air ducts, dryer vent, and furnace, with no hidden charges. Matt and his two crew members arrived right on time in the morning. They were very friendly. They started from downstairs and explained me their process before they started. They were organized well and cleaned the whole house in 3 hours working non-stop. They have done an amazing job. At the end, they showed me how much dirt came out which was unbelievable. I will definetely use their services again and refer them.

We learned about the company at the Home Show. We didn't have an idea of what vent cleaning would cost, so the $325 seemed reasonable. In 20 years we had never cleaned the vents, not realizing what a difference it would make. Matt and crew were helpful and courteous and explained specifically what they would be doing and how their equipment worked. The house was cleaner when they left than when they arrived! We didn't notice until later, but they had vacuumed parts of rooms where they saw any debris (pet fur, etc.) on the floor. They left the vents extremely clean. Our 70-year-old house had many metal feeds and returns through floor vents, and we had no idea they could look so clean. There's no question the air is cleaner, we could feel it immeidately, and the air flow throughout the house is clearly stronger and cleaner. They asked if they could remind us again in 3 years, and we agreed. Air quality clearly degrades over time as the ducts get dirty, so we will be refreshing the cleaning every 3-5 years.

I was extremely impressed with Better Air NW. Matt and crew were very professional and had extreme attention to detail. Cleaning the duct system was a multistep operation from vacuuming each individual supply and return vent closing off each vent with magnet strips and special tape, connecting Hepa system to the furnace and thoroughly cleaning each supply and return vent. They fed a compressed air line that had a special nozzle which forced air to flow through the ducts cleaning all sides of the ducting while the Hepa filter forced all of the debris out of the duct system. After all supply vents were cleaned they then used a similar process for the return air vents. I could not believe the preparation that was done to each supply and return vent prior to doing the deep clean of the ducting system. Each vent was hand scraped to remove all dried on dry wall and paint to prevent it from breaking loose over time and traveling into the air. Additionally the configuration of my furnace was such that they could not easily attach to the supply side of the furnace. In order to do the job correctly they had to go into the crawl space and connect the Hepa system there. This was amazing! I don't know many people who want to go into our crawl space. This illustrates that they want to do the job correctly and not take any shortcuts. As I mentioned earlier I was extremely impressed and would hire them again in heartbeat.

I just needed my return air ducts cleaned because we had a new furnace and supply ducts installed recently. Most companies I called still wanted to charge me their regular price just to clean a few return lines. Matt gave a great deal and he and he team did a great job. Very thorough, professional, and an all around great job.

We were amazed at what we got for the price. Their method was extremely thorough, which was really important to us because of our son's allergies. They were extremely professional and very friendly. We were really impressed.
