They had a project manager out here everyday checking on things and making sure everything was going right. I really liked them. Heather, the project manager person was great. Any little thing that needed to be done, she was doing it right away. There was no worries on our account. When they tear your house apart, you kinda get worried a little bit. We went with them and did not check out anyone else. Heather was out here everyday, checking on things making sure things were getting done.
Description of Work: They did a complete demo and complete remodel of our bathroom and custom cabinets.

Last week I received an angry email about my review from the owner, Jim Collins. It reads, in part, "I will give you one week to remove this, or I will look at my legal options against you, for your deception of the truth, slander, and attempts to ruin my business." I'm not trying to ruin anyone's business. But Mr. Collins is trying to intimidate me. I feel that my review accurately reflects my experience with Kitsap Kitchen & Bath.
Description of Work: Kitsap Kitchen and Bath builds and installs custom cabinetry boxes and buys cabinet doors from a third party vendor. They also sell counter tops, tile and related products. When I was presented with an itemized cost estimate, they said I could select as many or as few of their services as I needed or wanted. As a first step I agreed to pay $1,000 for a kitchen design that, by the way, replicated my existing floor plan. When I told them I had purchased counter top material elsewhere they were visibly unhappy. When I bought my floor tile elsewhere, again, they were not happy. Then they brought out their electrical contractor and their plumbing contractor to the job site to look over the proposed work. Later, I met with KK&B to review the bid for electrical work; it was $11,100!!! I told them that I would obtain my own electrical contractor. That's when things got ugly. They said that they needed to use their own contractors to insure the job goes smoothly. I asked them if they receive kickbacks from their contractors; reluctantly they said yes, "around" 10%", but they call it a "management fee". I was told later by someone in a position to know that their "management fee" is 25%. And in addition to their undisclosed "management fee" they wanted to charge a line item management fee of several thousand dollars! I walked away and never turned back. I have waited to post this review until my own electrician has finished the job; instead of $11,100 I got the same work done for $5,000. So to recap, they make money on the design layout, building the cabinet boxes, reselling the doors, counter tops, flooring, installation, a project management fee, and a substantial undisclosed markup on their subcontractors' work. Added together I would have spent about twice what I ended up paying elsewhere."

Response from Kitsap Kitchen and Bath
We sincerely apologize that Mr. [Member Name Removed] was unhappy with the services that we provided. We tried to reach out to him via email, instead of responding to this review, not to intimidate him, but to allow him the opportunity to retract his inaccurate and false statement. First and foremost, we do NOT receive kickbacks from anyone. As a business, we charge retail rates for products purchased through our establishment. This is the same process that any retail business practices, if they want to stay in business. Mr. [Member Name Removed]'s mention of "kickbacks" is slanderous and 100% untrue. A kickback suggests that we have something to hide, which is completely unfounded and could do nothing but damage our reputation as a business. As for Mr. [Member Name Removed]'s electrical, we can not say for sure whether or not the same electrical processes were performed. Also, we have no way of knowing if his chosen electrician was licensed, bonded or procured the proper permits. A qualified company, such as the one we use, does all of these things while also performing superior work. A client we are currently working with was informed who our electrical contractor is and was told that they tend to be more expensive, but they are the best choice for quality work and service. The customer is overjoyed and said, "I know they're more expensive but they do superior work and that's exactly what we want." Now, in regards to Mr. [Member Name Removed]'s disappointment with the design plans that we provided. When he informed us of his feelings, we refunded him 50% of the fee he was charged for said drawings. We find it odd that Mr. [Member Name Removed] does not mention this in his statement. Refunding money for the designs is not something that we normally do because our clients appreciate and understand the need for these drawings and the time invested to create them. Our designs are necessary on nearly every job so that our clients, our staff and our subcontractors are all aware of the steps and materials necessary to complete the job. Our processes are not very different from any other business that performs remodels or renovations. What our business does do differently is provide full service, from design to turn-key, with quality materials and quality craftsmanship. We pride ourselves on always being on time and on budget. We are sincerely sorry that we could not do business with Mr. [Member Name Removed]. All we supplied to Mr. [Member Name Removed] were designs and estimates, yet this upset him enough to write such a vindictive and slanderous review, 3 months later. We are also surprised and disappointed that Angie's List would allow this review to be posted without confirming the validity of the statement beforehand. We welcome anyone who would like to know more about us, and this situation, to come in and speak with us. We have nothing to hide.

Complete kitchen remodel. Took about 6 weeks. The quality of the product was outstanding. Alex and Lew installed the cabinets wanted perfection, and I could not be happier. The company (Olympic Hardwood Flooring) also did an A+ job. Walter, who did all of the electric work, was so good I hired him to work on another project. We had a little hiccup with the installation of the Cambria for the island, but the installation company came out the next day and fixed the problem. We had Cambria Quartz Tile installed for the counters and back splash and the finished product is outstanding. Tracy and Mark helped design the placement of the cabinets and we could not be happier.
