I can't praise Bill's work, excavation skill, leveling skill, initiative, personal manner and all around helpfulness highly enough. He put off coming several times because of the forecast rain (he was limited to availability on weekends) and he wanted to make sure I had a good product. When we got a window of one day without rain, he came as planned. He came and did a perfect job which is praised by everyone who has seen it. With his skill and attention to detail I was never worried in the least that he would damage any of my property with his large equipment. Another contractor who has done work for me saw him working and called me back a month later and asked for Bill's number, he was so impressed with his work.
Description of Work: 1. Dug a 4' deep 100' long trench with 2 branches to 2 different perimeter sheds; then installed PVC pipe for electrical line inside the trench (due to time constraints and other work I needed done I hired someone else later on to run the wire when they did the wiring for my two sheds). Then buried the trench 2. Scraped 1650 square foot area from sod, and then hauled the sod away for me at no extra charge other than time (he took the time to find someone who wanted it and then delivered it to them). 3. Then he leveled the 1650 square foot area and laid gravel down over it. 4. Then he hand raked the gravel out to a perfect slope (far better than I could have done).

Bill did a great job. He installed the drain, pipe, drain rock and tied in the downspout. With the heavy rain we had the last few days, there has been no problem. He as much cheaper than some competitors who tired to over-engineer a solution.
Description of Work: Install drain box, 40 foot pipe to street with popup. Tie in one downspout that was not draining properly.

Response from Round About Construction
The customer and I talked four different times and he had all the answers on how to do the project and then wanted to wait on the tree removal, I told him that I was not going to take the job and left it there. How ungrateful people are after spending several hours driving to his house and talking with him. That got me a F I don't think so. You can't work with them all, I pride my self on the reviews that I have received and the service that I provide to those I have the opportunity and pleasure to work for. I wish this person the best in moving forward in finding a contractor that can work with him.

Bill Bett's was absolutely great. I had another company come look at my trouble and recommend a very expensive solution to my drainage problem. Bill gave me a bid to remove the tree, clear the root blockage, and then re-plumb the foundation drain. His solution worked perfectly and THE WORK WENT FASTER THAN EXPECTED AND HE REDUCED MY PRICE! I don't remember that happening with any contractor I have used in the past at all. I had expected my walk to be destroyed during this heavy work but no damage and all plantings were spared due to the companies care. I generally do not give glowing reviews but I would recommend this company to anyone without hesitation. Scores A's in all categories.
Description of Work: Cleared my foundation drain and removed the tree which was blocking the drain ( roots ).

Our neighbor allowed us to cut down several 40+ year-old laurels that were over 30 ft high and three large cypress trees. He wanted all stumps and roots removed so that the laurels would not return. Bill returned my call within a couple of hours and was willing to work on a Saturday so that our neighbor could inspect the work. He contacted the utility service to mark if there were any underground utilities before digging. He also contacted us the night before to confirm our appointment. Bill came to the work site 1/2 hour early to size up the lot and where he could maneuver his excavator, truck, and trailer. Bill brought his smaller excavator and large capacity truck-trailer bed, but soon decided to go get his larger rig as one of the laurel stumps with multiple trunks was about three feet across. He worked continuously for almost four hours and was very careful to preserve plantings that we wanted to keep. After using his larger rig, he helped us hand-rack through the entire area to remove any stray roots, as per our neighbors wishes. The area was about 30 feet by 30 feet and when the job was completed was ready to be rolled and seeded for grass. He loaded and hauled away all the debris (approximately 30 yards). Bill was great to work with. He discussed the work with our neighbor and was sure to meet all his demands with humor and patience. We would highly recommend Round About Construction to anyone with a large or small job needing excavation or as in our case stump and brush removal.

Everything went smoothly. The estimate was for the worst case scenario and when less fill was required, our bill was adjusted accordingly so the job was done for less than the original estimate. Work was done in the time frame he quoted. We're very happy with the results and would certainly hire Bill again for future projects.
Description of Work: Had approx 30X60 ft area cleared, graded, filled and gravel spread. Several large stumps were removed.

We could not have been happier than having Bill Betts do the work for us. We feel he went way beyond what we expected. Bill listened carefully to us, and provided what was important to us. He called us with questions, ideas, and explanations before he began the work. He worked and works very very hard and was always reliable. We could tell he was responsible and caring the way he handled the job. This was all complicated by the exceptionally wet weather in May and into June. The concrete and asphalt contractors commented on his excellent work as well.
Description of Work: Bill lowered the top of our driveway which leads up to our house. He disposed of railroad ties which were down by the street and up the driveway. He replaced the lower rr ties with a lovely two level rockery. He tore out an old cement wall, old cracked cement by the entry, and solid cement stairs that were up by the house and disposed of all the material. He replaced that wall with a lovely rockery, and stone stairs. There were drainage issues throughout that Bill addressed thoroughly. He dug a long drain, and installed a new drain at the top of the drive in an appropriate spot and installed new frame and grate for the street drain. He installed a new faucet in the garden. He reshaped the driveway which had been straight into an attractive curve, and prepared it for paving. Most of the area will be concrete; the part by the street will be asphalt. This all involved removing much much old gravel and soil, which was mostly clay. He delivered and spread top soil over the new planting areas.

Excellent experience. This was a large in-ground concrete pool with an extremely thick shell. Bill (and crew) showed up every day on time and with the right equipment. They worked carefully around existing fencing, structures, and landscaping to completely demolish the old concrete pool and deck. Bill took a lot of extra time to make sure the pool bottom and sides were completely broken up for drainage and that all rebar was cut or removed. He made sure he knew what I wanted for a finished grade (in prep for landscaping) and took extra care to make sure the jobsite was cleaned up every day before he left. He coordinated delivery of all fill materials and even removed fairly large Cherry tree. Bill, Bill Sr, and Ryan are all family members that work really well together and have fun doing what they do. As a bonus they are also true professionals and expert equipment operators. I would recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: Demolition of an old in-ground swimming pool, demolition of all concrete pool decking, concrete cutting, backfill and grading.
