Green City Heating and Air Conditioning

I purchased the Green City deal to have our furnace tuned for the upcoming winter season. Process of making the appointment was quick and easy. Time set was between 11 a.m. and noon. Tim called at eleven to let us know he was driving to Marysville from Sammamish, WA and should be here by noon, which he came very close to meeting. He cleaned the burners and heat exchanger, and test-fired the unit to ensure it was working okay. He commented that there was a lot of rust and advised us to replace unit before it gets real bad. We are not ready to make that decision right now, but we did appreciate Tim's professionalism. We also appreciated receiving a follow-up call the following day from Jeff, the company owner, checking on our experience with his company.

I'd been meaning to have the heat pump unit checked for a long time, and finally got round to doing it when I saw the 'big deal' offer for a heat pump / a/c checkup. Jeff was very courteous and knowledgeable and patiently answered all my questions. He inspected the system and found all was in good order. He advised that the heat pump was not ideally sized for the house (too big). I had two concerns regarding a heat issue in the basement & excess noise in the living room, and he advised a solution of adding additional registers. We'll hire this company again to do this additional work for us later this month.

We were selling our home. They worked on the water heater. They came back and they did the work on the furnace. They gave us a good price for the work on the furnace. They did a lot of work and it was way cheaper than what a plumber would have charged. They were nice guys.

Bud and his crew were FABULOUS, and completed the job in one day. They were prompt and very professional. I would recommend them without any reservations. Outstanding communication, answered all my questions. I appreciated the care they took with my pets, two Pomeranians who were very curious about all the unusual activity in THEIR house... :) When I called, I was desperate. I'm home all day, disabled, and the heat was unbearable. Having insulated the attic and crawlspace last fall, I was totally unprepared for living in a PIZZA OVEN..!! :( I had one portable A/C unit from Costco, which became the one spot in my house where the dogs and I could get a little relief. Thank you, thank you, thank you to Jeff, Bud, Erik and the rest of the Green City crew. Your quick response to my urgent need is deeply appreciated..!!

We used the a/c special price and applied it towards a heat pump replacement. We also upgraded the heat pump to a 14 SEER that was 6 db quieter. We have a neighbors' patio within 30 feet of the a/c unit outside and we wanted a quieter sound in order to respect the neighbors' privacy. Green City estimator was out in a very timely manner and within a few days we were able to have them install it. The work was done in a few hours, and they left our home in a neat and tidy condition as if they had not been here. The old hardware was removed as well. The new heat pump is delivering cool filtered air now.

They were great! They came out right away which I needed. I was moving and it was such a whirlwind as a first time home buyer moving into a fixer-upper. I'm so glad I turned to Green City because they advised me through everything and were available after the service to answer any of my questions. I liked them so much! They were so helpful! They were on time and courteous. I could not have asked for more personable, professional, and efficient employees. I would recommend them to anyone!

My furnace was not working, so I obtained a coupon and called them. They agreed to come out the next day on emergency visit. We discovered the outside water drain was frozen, so we removed the ice, and the furnace turned on. About then the man showed up, and I offered him the coupon. He said he could not accept it, but insisted on being paid $129. I made him vacuum the furnace, but that's all he did. I'm still upset that I didn't just tell him to go, and save myself the money. Now I no longer want to call the company or use the coupon.

My overall experience with them was great. Everything was really good. They were reliable.

Well this is really strange because my understanding is that they were hired as a sub on a larger job. The contractor that hired them left a lot to be desired and so I'm not sure if Green City should take all the blame. I can say their sticker was on the furnace and the receipt said it was new but another HVAC guy didn't think it was new. If it was, they forgot to install an air filter when installing and the "new" condensate pump was broken so there was water everywhere and flooded the garage when it was started up. They were also hired to replace fan blades on an A/C unit and stabilize it because it shaking when running. The fan blades were installed ok but the unit kept shaking like crazy and we were told that was normal. Another HVAC guy was brought in to correct and it runs fine now.

The technician arrived within the 2 hour window appointment time. I met him on the driveway as he got out of his van, and although I knew he was with Green City (since that was the company name on the vehicle), he never introduced himself by name. He did seem tired from what I assumed was a long day of work, but he was very friendly and ready to get to work on my furnace. He took a quick look at the furnace and its location within my garage, and while I cleared some space for him to work, he went back to his van to get his tools. He wasn't at my house for very long (about a half hour at most), but he used an air compressor to blow dust, cobwebs, etc. out of the furnace interior. He used a small camera attached to a skinny, flexible arm to view the interior of the furnace and check it for I-don't-remember-what-he-told-me, but he said it all looked good (no cracks, rust, holes, or any other bad things he thought he might see). He changed the filter in the furnace, but that was provided by me (I already had one in my garage). I asked if he keeps a small inventory of filters in his van, had I not had one already myself, and he said no because they don't always know what kind of furnaces they'll be looking at when they come out to people's houses. He thought that if I had mentioned that I needed one and provided the filter size to them when I made my appointment, perhaps he could have brought one with him when he came out to service the unit. He asked me to adjust the thermostat so that the furnace burners would come on, and he took a look and listen at the furnace to ensure it was working as expected. In the end, all looked good (my furnace is only about 6 years old) and he seemed fine with the condition of the furnace, i.e., no suggestions for anything extra needing to be done beyond the maintenance visit. Other than not introducing himself, he was professional and seemed competent.

It was okay. He didn’t do a whole lot. He gave me some advice on how to improve the efficiency. He was only at the home for about 20-30 minutes. There was a problem with the new system that they put in – they scheduled an appointment and no one showed up – even though I got a reminder. I called and had to leave a message; they didn’t call me back until the following week (I called on a Friday).

We are putting our home on the market. A furnace inspection was one item on a very crowded list of things to take care of before listing. I phoned Jeff and asked about availability. He understood the timelines and scheduled our inspection for the following week. He and his assistant arrived on the dot, carried out the inspection and gave us good input about our furnace. He also honored the Angie's LIst deal for the service call. Such an outstanding experience and affordable too! House selling is a full-time job and Green City made this task painless. If you need to know the health of your furnace or air conditioning, give Green City a call. Don't wait until problems arise in the midst of a winter.

The service was great. The inspector was very professional and careful, explained to me things about the system and the tests that were performed. Green city also gave a me a 1-hr window of when the work would be perfumed and they were right on-time! We had just moved in so it was a bit of a chaotic period for us but he quickly came in, did the work, and left - took 40-50 min, I think.

Outstanding customer service. Jeff was very helpful and adjusted our bid several times based of of changes we would like made. He was very responsive to phone calls and emails. They will be installing a new heat pump for us in the next couple of weeks.

These guys did a great job from start to finish. The project did come with some challenges as this home was not set up to make it easy to install air conditioning as the furnace is located in the attic. The Green City team worked together very well and did a top notch custom installation. The Lennox XC14 has a low sound level and works fantastic. When Green City quotes you a price and they run into some extra work or needed parts, they stick to their estimate and don't try to push the overage on to the customer. These are honest hard working guys who have pride in what they do, I would recommend and use this company in the future. My thanks to the Green City team for a great job, it was a pleasure working with all of you.

The team was punctual and honest. They showed me all the problem areas and they were very fair about the price of installing a new, energy efficient furnace.

Had Green City do a furnace tune up. Turns out the horrible noise was the bearings wearing out. There was also some rust on the heat exchangers. Based on the results I decided that it would be better to replace the furnace now when furnace prices were at their lowest, rather than wait for my furnace to die during the winter. There was no pressure what so ever to replace my furnace. After discussing the options and prices of high vs low efficiency units, I opted to go for the 80% furnace. Green City with a bit of encouragement made me an offer I could not refuse. They came the next week and replaced my furnace. Repair people came on time, the whole operation took under 2 hours, and everything was left spic and span.

Tim came and identified the problem as a filter needed but, also, a little hole that was clogged and keeping the furnace from running. He fixed those problem teaching my husband how to change the filter. Now it's 12:00, the furnace is running, and we know how to replace the filter now. What can be better than that?!!

Jeff Simonson both responded to my initial call and scheduled/performed the described service just two days later. His performance was superior in all respects. Not only did he perform the described service for the advertised special price, but he located and corrected a slow gas leak that had apparently been overlooked on previous service visits by another company. In addition, Jeff provided us with a great deal of information on the design and potential drawbacks of our aging system, and scoped-out various options and associated costs for the system's eventual replacement when such is required. That said, he also reported that the unit still has a good bit of useful life ahead. I would judge Jeff's knowledge & integrity as close to the top of the heap--it's easy to see why his firm is highly rated on Angies List and this rating simply confirms that.

As a result of sewer backup in my basement I needed to have a very complex boiler system and two hot water tanks removed to get access to a wet wall that needed to be replaced. The insurance would pay for the removal and replacement of the existing system but I wanted to find out if there was anything I could do to make it more energy efficient. Jeff Simonson understood what I wanted to do and that I had a limited budget to work with. He recommended installing a tankless hot water system and let me know that the existing boiler still had a lot of good years left if properly maintained. He also pointed out some issues with the previous system and the way it had been installed which was not according to what I was told by the previous company. Jeff's proposal would extend the life of the existing boiler, reduce both my gas and electric bill and clean up the complex piping that looked like a maze of chaos on the wall. It would also give me more room for storage by removing the two existing tanks altogether. They even brought me some space heaters to use for the weekend the boiler was removed in case the weather got colder. Jeff and his installers were on time, efficient and obviously knew what they were doing. I am very happy with the replacement system and the fact that he did not try to sell me more than what was actually required to accomplish what I needed. I would not hesitate to hire Green City especially if you want a creative approach to your installation or you have a complicated existing system that needs some troubleshooting.

Bought the furnace service deal because the furnace motor was making horrible noises. Jeff cleaned and serviced furnace pointing out the noise was from worn bearings. Scoped the heat exchanger which had rust. None was surprising since the furnace was 20 years old. Jeff did the most thorough job of any of the people who has serviced the furnace in the past. He was also extremely professional. I would not hesitate recommending them to anyone. The furnace could have limped along for another year or so, but I decided to replace it. Jeff gave me a great estimate on a new furnace, and based on their reviews and my experience, I am having them replace the furnace.

We bought the Angie's Big Deal that was for a furnace check-up for $79. When they checked the furnace they noticed a crack. They suggested we replace the furnace seeing that it was 15 years old and replacing the part alone might not be safe. We decided to go with it and they came 4 days later and installed a new furnace in a day. We are happy with the replacement.
