Description of Work: Turned out I had to delay doing the work, but Island Home Improvement was recommended to me by a very fine lady who couldn't say enough good things about all aspects of the company. They were kind enough to come to my home, promptly, and their manner was quite proper and professional, yet truly neighborly and helpful. They spent a large amount of time taking pictures and measurements of the project area and then spent what was obviously a very long time drawing up some wonderful plans- in both verbal and diagram and blueprint form. Their suggestions were wonderful, many of which I never would have thought of myself. I was thoroughly impressed to the point that I never even called another contractor for any competitive bid. I am indebted to them, and although all the other costs of other types of work I had done in my renovations depleted my bank account, I fully intend to call them back to do the job as soon as I am able. They did not even ask for any remuneration for all the work they have already done to evaluate and plan the job and the price was quite normal and competitive. Finally, sometimes one can tell if other people are just plain nice, honest folks- and they truly are. Description of Work: Island Home Improvement replaced some siding on my home and did some painting.

Description of Work: Paint our downstairs area completely, walls and ceiling. Prep walls, patch, etc.

Description of Work: The contractor who built this house sent his painter over to fix a two foot long crack in the kitchen ceiling. The painter used something like a spackling compound and was finished in about 15 minutes. That's also about how long the repair lasted as the crack reappeared the next day. Island Home Improvement's Jim was called in. He responded within minutes of my filling out an on-line request for estimates. Came down the same day and gave us an estimate which we accepted. He brought in several pieces of equipment over the two days he worked on it; maybe an hour each day, which included repair, painting and re-texturing. He had to allow the two days for something to dry first, some kind of special compound. It has been over a month now and the crack has not reappeared. He was extremely polite, efficient and left the work area clean. We were pleased with the outcome. We have since had him back to do a bigger job, which I will also post a review on after it's completed.
