Just remarkable. Work done perfectly, people are lovely. I enjoyed being in the house with them.
Description of Work: They installed all new Pella windows throughout a 1927 English cottage. It was NOT simple, as the windows were NOT straight. I feel so lucky that I found these guys, a father and son[s] team who were impeccable. Don't even go to anyone else. Call Mike.

Mike (the owner) was comprehensive and clear in his estimate and problem solving of our window problems. We live in an older, unique, country type home with a primitive look. We did not want to lose that look. Everyone prior to "A New View" told us that it was not possible to just replace the glass (or they simply refused to do it). They wanted to sell us new windows which we did not want. This was not a matter of cost, but of style. Mike understood that and was very willing to work with us. Mike and his crew were prompt, pleasant, professional, quiet, unobtrusive and efficient. They took precautions to deal with the necessary "messes" that happen with such a job and cleaned up well. Some of the windows were large; behind a steep roof, and difficult to get to, but the crew readily had a plan and made it happen beautifully. My husband and I are so happy with our new windows. We are now able to clearly see the beautiful property we live in.
Description of Work: Removed 13 existing failed insulated glass windows. Replaced with new, up-to-date insulated glass in the original frames.

I had Mike and his guys put new siding on my house and they appeared to do a good job on that, so I hired them to paint the exterior of my house. I gave them an $18000.00 deposit several weeks before they started the job. I had hired an excellent painting company to paint my previous house. They had the job done in about 2-3 days and there were NO FLAWS. Unfortunately they were no longer in business. In comparison, Mike and his guys took over 2 weeks to paint my house. In prepping the house, they did not remove the light fixtures from the house before painting and instead used tape around them. The fixtures ended up with paint on them and the siding around them had bare spots. I found drips and sags especially on the trim , peeling paint on one of the doors, drips on the window screen,, over spray on the foundation of the house and a paint sprayed bee's nest. There was a thermometer on the back of the house that they sprayed with paint, making it unuseable so it had to be thrown away. They left the bracket there though I asked them to remove it. Overall, the paint job looked sloppy and the flaws were obvious. It was like they just did not care how it looked. There are still pieces of blue tape on my patio cover. (Too high for me to reach). They did come back to to repaint the trim because it was so uneven. Had I known the poor quality paint job they would do and HOW LONG IT WOULD TAKE THEM TO DO IT , I would not have hired them to do it. I think they do a good job on the other things they do and they are nice people but they are not painters. I don't like to write bad reviews, but I would want to know these things if I was thinking of hiring them to paint. If you are not particular about your paint, I guess you wouldn't mind, but when I pay a professional price I do want a professional job. I had received a bid of $3,650.00 from another painter and he had a long list of references I could check and sounded like he would have done a professional job. He could have started the job immediately. I do regret not hiring him.
Description of Work: Painted the exterior of my one story house and stained my pergola patio cover.

Mike Kuschel and his permanent crews, and concrete subcontractor, took our ideas and thoughts and created a workable plan for a useful and beautiful sunroom/greenhouse addition to our home. Mike created numerous professional detailed drawings to facilitate the permitting process, and prior to the start of construction provided responsive consultations and additional drawings in response to City of Hillsboro planners' questions and concerns. Mike had previous experience in sunroom construction and photos of the end products, hence was an excellent resource for recommending suitable glass panels and maximizing Energy Trust of Oregon and other government rebates and tax credits. We ended up utilizing highly insulated double pane Low-E glass for ceiling modules and standard double pane argon-filled panels for wall modules, providing overhead heat rejection during the summer months, while allowing wavelengths of light year round through wall panels necessary for promoting plant growth. Mike also adjusted dimensions and positions of each surface to maximize the size of the interior given the limited space we had to work with, while adhering to building codes without having to endure any heavily bureaucratic variance processes as were recommended by other builders who bid the job. Although this complicated the job, Mike professionally and enthusiastically fulfilled all expectations (and beyond) at the quoted price, which also represented the best value from a price-competitive standpoint. Heavy rain accompanied by driving winds since completion of the room demonstrated Mike's thorough grasp of proper weatherization, a rare and valuable skillset not often well understood by builders in my experience. Condensation collection and drainage is yet another example of features Mike incorporated to improve on our basic ideas, and could have been an ongoing problem had it not been for his first hand expertise on the subject. Throughout the work period, despite his company's escalating business volume, Mike remained communicative and sensitive to our required job completion date, assuring that our citrus trees, strawberries and other plants have a warm and productive home for fall through spring seasons. The sunroom will be inexpensively heated by sharing our main home's natural gas furnace heat, and we've noticed that even when the French doors are closed, morning sun warms the room quickly, already noticeable now on rainy and overcast days in late October. We look forward to enjoying morning coffee in this bright and cozy room during cool seasons. Both the interior and exterior finish trim are amazing with intricately precise cuts that enhance the appearance, earning plenty of compliments from family and friends. Mike's knowledge and flexibility helped tremendously in tailoring the end result's being even better than we anticipated, with several additional useful and space-saving enhancements that we would not have thought of on our own. We highly recommend A New View, and would hire them again in a heartbeat.

Everything was done correctly and professionally. Mike replaced the entire solar tube unit, using proper sealing and supports. Everything was completely cleaned up afterward. It works perfectly. I've used Mike for many previous jobs - a new chimney surround with an added roof and quot;cricketand quot; (raised section) to eliminate leakage, replacing siding (vertical lap cedar - he caulked every seam to prevent water intrusion!), replacing a garage side door, and installing windows (replaced 5, re-installed 2 that someone else had done incorrectly, and installed 2 new ones) - he always does an excellent job and I highly recommend him! I have more projects for him in the near future, as well. My highest recommendation!

All went well. They cleaned up after themselves. It took them about 4 months to finish the job, but I told them I was in no hurry. So they worked on other client jobs and worked on my project when they had time. I worked with Mike Kuschel which is the owner of A New View Windows and Doors. He is very honest and a good guy to work with.
Description of Work: Had an old A-Frame structure that needed to be re-roofed. It had old wood shingles and portions of the roof sheeting had rotted away. I had repairs done to the roof sheeting (tongue and groove 2/4 material), old rotted material removed. Then had a new metal roof installed. There was also rot on the A-Frame main structural beams. This rot was cut out and new pressure treated material was bolted in and caulked in place. I had a new door and 3 windows installed. The structure was leaning, so it was raised about 6" on one side to level the structure. It was a lot of work, but the structure was worth saving vs. rebuilding.

Mike is amazing! He is warm and friendly! He was recommended to us by another satisfied customer. He came to our house and showed us some window options. Mike NEVER tried to up sell us and he NEVER pressured us to purchase with him! We only could afford to do a few windows at a time and we will definitely be going back to Mike when we are ready to do the rest. On installation day he brought along his two sons that work for him. They are also some of the kindest and most down to earth people! So polite and courteous. They worked h****** installing the windows. One of the sons saw we were having trouble with our sliding door. He offered to look at it and fixed it right up for us! We were pleased with the whole process and would recommend them to anyone needing new doors and windows!

We had Mike (I think that was his name, sorry, I'm horrible with names!) come out to give us an estimate on replacing panes and seals on some 1970s metal windows. We had 4 double-pane windows in a large house that weren't sealed well and were foggy and dirty between the panes. We just bought the house and weren't ready to buy all new windows yet because the house has a LOT of windows, so decided to just replace the panes on the trouble windows. When multiple other window companies told us it was impossible to replace panes on metal windows and we would have to replace the windows instead, we knew they were lying - we have multiple family members who owned glass businesses for many years and they let us know what and what can't realistically be done. When Mike came out, he immediately gave us multiple options, including replacing the panes. We had him do the work and he did a beautiful job, the windows look great. He was fast, prompt, professional and the price was reasonable. We've already recommended him to others and will use him in the future.

Mike met with the realtor at the house on the coast and did a thorough inspection of the siding. He was able to determine the moisture levels of the siding, the installation methods, and the shortcomings of the installation. He was also able to determine that the siding on the house was LP Inner-seal siding.
Description of Work: Mike did a siding consultation for us on a house that we were purchasing that had suspected bad LP siding on it. His comprehensive report allowed us to get a siding allowance on the purchase price. In the past he has also replaced all of the windows on our house and all of the windows on our condo.

See above. I have had him do many jobs over the years. Windows, doors, closet doors. All in a condo with difficult access.
Description of Work: I have used Mike's services several times over the last 6 years. He has replaced windows, a door, and installed new closet doors for me. He is great to work with. Accommodating, polite, punctual. A dream contractor. Works with his son who is equally respectful. Sometimes has a crew on big projects or when he is very busy. They clean up after themselves. He knows the products really well and will try to get you the best product to meet your needs. I really appreciate the craftmanship in his work. He installed a window next to another that was installed by a previous contractor who I did not use again. Mike's work is so good that it makes the window done by the previous contractor look kinda shabby. I referred this company to a friend who had Mike do the windows on his (big) house. My friend was very happy with the work. He called me to tell me what a great guy Mike was and how happy he was with the work! I am surprised there aren't more reviews on this site of this company. He is busy--works out about a month ahead of the time you contact him.
