He came and checked and provided an estimate. Communication was very good with him. He's been great so and I would recommend him.

I had an appointment for 7/16 for cable installation in a second floor bedroom and can light installation in the basement gym. This was actually the 2nd appointment for the basement can lights as the electrician ran out of time during a prior appointment. The electrician called in sick the morning of the 16th, so an alternate electrician was rescheduled to arrive at 8am on 7/17, leaving enough of a window prior to when Comcast was supposed to arrive for the cable box install at 10:00 am. The electrician called at 8:47 am to let me know he was on his way and finally arrived at 9:15 am - over an hour late. So, of course he was not finished when the Comcast installer arrived. Snaking the coax cable from the basement up to the second floor bedroom took the electrician about 2 hours - he left my house before 11:30am. I was charged $679, which I feel is very high for 2 hours of electrical work. And the basement can lights were not done again, for the second time. When my husband called to discuss this with them, after they did not respond to an email from me on the topic, the owner was rude to him. Needless to say, we will not be using Melody Electric again.

Contacted Melody Electric and immediately talked to a pleasant office receptionist. I explained my problem and we immediately set up an appointment at an agreed upon time. Two gentlemen from Melody Electric showed up exactly at the appointed time. They were extremely polite and professional. They work from a set cost structure for services performed and tell you up front what they will charge you for each of the services you want them to do for you. We agreed on the work and the price. They did their work very efficiently and professionally. They were done in almost exactly one hour. For the scheduling of the work and getting it done efficiently and correctly, I would give Melody Electric an A+. They were fantastic. The reason they get an overall B is on price. For the $447 cost I was charged, I judge I could have purchased good grade parts (two switches, one outlet and a GFI circuit breaker) for no more than $90. That means that I was essentially charged $360 for two people for one hour's elapsed time or $180/hour for two people each for labor. No doubt that covers the overhead of the office, etc. but it is not something that strikes me as cheap. For that reason I gave Melody Electric a C on price and an overall rating of B. Having said that, would I use them again? The answer is, probably, yes. It was easy to contact them and immediately set up an appointment. They showed up on time and did efficient excellent work. They were extremely courteous. They told me up front what it would cost and I had the opportunity to show them the door if I didn't like it. I compare this to another provider that is rated A in Angie's list with 33 ratings who did not return my phone call. Compared to what a nightmare it can be to have someone come to do a small job and wonder what kind of work they will do when they get there, it was a very pleasant experience indeed to have Melody Electric come in a timely manner and do quality work. I just feel I had to pay a premium price for this excellent service and this is reflected in my rating.

I found them incredibly helpful, honest and I really liked their work. I liked the fact that they were honest about everything,and they could have told me anything and I would have believed them. My husband thought we needed much more work than we got done, and I just appreciated that they were honest, and they knew what they were doing. The work turned out perfect.

They did resolve the problem but they never told me over the phone what to expect on price. When they arrived it cost $200 to just diagnose the problem. Then it seemed like it took them a long time to find the issue. I pointed out the problem and they ended up fixing that, the GFI Unit. That cost $100 per unit to replace. Their prices were very expensive and I wouldn't use them again.

Highly Recommended. Will be using their services again in the future.

Work will be done on April 7, 2014, done well, and at reasonable charge. Company has a website which states 1-year warranty on work performed.

They also replaced a different light fixture. It went smoothly, and the work was good.

Their method of using up front pricing is nice in that you know exactly what it will cost you but it also left me feeling like I may have paid too much. However, we felt that with the time the two electricians spend trouble shooting the hot tub issue and the installation of the light (parts and labor) was worth it. They were very prompt. Returned our phone call the same day and came our to trouble shoot the hot tub on Christmas Eve. Since they were there we had them do the light installation then although it was not as urgent as the malfunctioning hot tub.

He was right on time, professional and job was done in less than an hour.

Wonderful, Excellent and stupendous information and service of fan/light. Quick followup from phone call and scheduled an appointment that was done within a week. Professional, courteous, knowledgable and done without a hitch.

Just moved to the area and needed a pair of ceiling fans installed during the recent heat wave. I called at least 8 outfits including Melody, and understandably, everyone was booked. Melody however was not only one of the few that returned my call, but they responded to my plight by calling me back with a much sooner appointment when they had a cancellation. The technician arrived on time, promptly installed the fans, and even looked into and provided a written estimate for another electrical issue we recently discovered. I will definitely use Melody as my electrician going forward.

Quite nice man came on time and asked what needed doing then proceeded to all that was necessary properly and effecentaly then went out of his way to find the missing part to my fan. Installed and working well. Lee Laessle,

I called to make an appointment with the company a couple of weeks prior to the appointment. Since I didn't want to make an 8:00 a.m. appointment, I was given a window of between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. The technician arrived at approximately 9:20 a.m. I had purchased what I thought were the correct detectors to have installed, but I got the wrong kind. He did have what I needed on his truck. I probably could've saved $15-$20 per detector (I needed three), but since he was already here and on the clock, I purchased the product through him. He told me how much the product was and the cost of installation prior to doing the job. He was here for about 30 minutes. He patiently answered my questions regarding how to change the batteries and also informed me of the warranty on the detectors.

The overhead light fixture in my home office stopped working suddenly last week. I replaced the bulbs but no luck so I figured it was a problem with the fixture. Tried to fix it myself but no luck so I looked on Angie's List and found Melody. Called Monday and the electrician arrived the following day. He tested the fixture's wires, found no current so thought it might be the switch which he replaced as a test. New switch -> and there was light! Fee was reasonable and they accepted a coupon I printed from their web site. Excellent work!

The light in my living room has not been working for about two weeks now. I checked Angie's List for someone reliable and read great reviews so I was very surprised at what I experienced. I found Melody Electric on a Sunday afternoon so I sent a message through their website to find out how much they charged for services. I received a prompt response from Sally, the office manager, regarding their fees and asked to schedule an appointment. My husband and I both work 9-5 jobs and have a commute so I told her we would not be available from 8-6, which is a difficult schedule for any one to work around. The earliest that they could schedule was the following week on Tuesday at 6 PM. Two days later she contacted me to change the date to either Wednesday or Thursday evening. I told her that either would be fine. The next day she called to ask if they could change the appointment to Thursday at 7:30 AM. I normally leave for work around 7:45 so I told her I had to check with my boss about taking a couple hours off in the morning for this appointment. I called her back within 2 hours and told her I was able to take the time and she scheduled the appointment. This morning, I was ready to go at 7:30. By 7:45, no one had shown up and from the reviews that I had read here, it seemed strange so I called the number on their website. It was an after-hours service so they said they would send a message out and I should hear back from someone. Just before 8 AM, I received a phone call from an electrician (whose name I cannot remember) stating that he had forgotten the appointment because he was covering the office and worked late the night before. He apologized and asked if I would be available in a few hours. I told him that I had taken a couple of hours off work and could not stay home all day so I would not be home until around 5:45 PM. He said that he had to check a calendar and asked if they could send someone tomorrow morning. I cannot take time off with one day notice so I said that would not work for me. He said that he would come out at 5:45 this evening. I cancelled my plans for after work and was home at 5:30. When no one was there by 6:05, I called to cancel the appointment and services. Again, it was the after hours service so they said they would send out a message immediately. At 6:10, the electrician showed up and I told him that we had just called to cancel. He asked "Why?" and I explained that he was supposed to be there at 5:45 and was 25 minutes late. His response was "You are going to cancel because of that?" I started to explain that he was supposed to be at my home at 7:30 that morning and he cut me off saying "I apologized for that." So I calmly said "We don't need your services anymore." He asked who would fix the electrical and I said I would find someone else to do the job. He said I was being ridiculous but he wouldn't waste his time arguing with me then stormed back to his truck. I am not sure where this man learned his customer service skills but if I was at fault 2 times in one day, I would not tell a customer that they were ridiculous and storm off like a child. If I had not called in the morning, I am not sure he would have called to re-schedule or apologize. I think at a minimum, he could have called in the evening when he was running late (by 25 minutes).

They arrive on time, get the work done quickly, and charge a reasonable price. They also give you a $25 coupon towards future work if you send in the survey postcard attached to your work order. The owner obviously understands and values customer opinions. I am so glad I found Melody Electric! It took me a long time to find an electrician who was willing to do the small jobs and who would just return my phone calls!

They were punctual, professional and do really, really great work. They are not cheap but you get what you pay for and I could not be happier. I have had them back (for new work) several times and always pleased with the results. I highly, highly recommend this company to anyone in Vermont.

The job and experience was FANTASTIC! What a professional (Bo..the Electrician that came). I had a very early morning appointment (7:30) and he called when he was 15 minutes away just to be sure I was ready (and awake) and he showed up promptly at 7:30. When he came in of course he introduced himself and was very presentable and indicated he wanted to review the job in person (he was not the person that did the first onsite estimate) before he grabbed his tools and materials from the truck. One of the professionalism (and respect) parts was he slipped on the pull over slippers over his shoes and followed me to the basement. We spent about 5 minutes reviewing the area and my request/needs for the job and he was all set. He went back out (in a blistering rainstorm) and got the wiring, ladder and his tools, put his "slippers" back and went downstairs and started on the job. We talked through it a bit some more and I "checked" on him now and again and he was very willing to tell me exactly what he was doing along each step (I am a little nosey that way as I am a DIYer..but not a professional). Anyhow. He installed the new wire, moved the existing, put the cover back on the break panel and then fully tested each outlet. He then showed me (again) what he did and demonstrated that the power was fully working and operational (as expected). He indicated the companies warranty and assured me that if anything was a problem that they would come back and fix it asap and no charge. Of course he was confident (as was I) that it was perfect and it was/is. We completed the invoice, I paid him (the fair price) and off he went and the good news is you would not even know he was here..beyond the new location of the lines and the very big smile on my face due to a job very well done. One of the reasons I am so happy with this as I just came off a very bad experience with a contractor who tiled my shower and made a disaster out of it and refused to fix it. Clearly I was gun-shy with contractors and I explained this to Don (the manager of Melody) when I first met them for the onsite. Don assured me they would do quality work and provided numerous references (which I called ALL of them) and they all gave them glowing reviews. Thanks Melody Electric for doing a great job and restoring my faith in contractors so I can actually get someone to do a professional job. I will definitely be doing more business with them as I continue this basement renovation (mostly myself). Rob
