On 12/5/2012, Jonathan White of Granola Engineering, purchased and installed 2-275 gallon oil tanks at our property. He also serviced the 2 oil burners, cleaning the burners and replacing nozzles and filters. The cost of the job was $830. On 1/23/2013, less than 2 months later, tenants reported dark smoke coming from the chimney and soot accumulating in the living spaces. Technicians from another company found the boiler plugged, and repaired and cleaned the oil burner, replacing the damaged nozzle, costing the property owner $876. The property owner also paid for cleaning of soot from tenant-occupied apartments, $947.31. Granola Engineering refused to take responsibility and did not attempt to recify this issue. In August 2013, an oil company technician was unable to add fuel to the new tanks that Granola Engineering had installed in December 2012 because of a defective or non-functioning "whistle." In September 2013, technicians from the other company had to perform oil line work, to enable those same tanks. On November 5, 2013 and again December 19, 2013, there were again problems filling the Granola tanks because of a venting problem. These service problems with the installation by Granola Engineering cost $790. Each time, Granola Engineering was called to rectify and correct his work. He was called several times to fix the problems, and either was a no-show or simply refused.
