Erich and Kestrel saved the day. We were in the process of relocating our one-room schoolhouse onto a new foundation, and the entire project hinged on the deconstruction of an abutting woodshed. Within hours, Deconstruction Works carefully disassembled, labeled, and sorted all of the lumber for future use. We were beyond grateful, and the cost was incredibly reasonable. Nobody is more experienced or better equipped to do this work in New England.

Erich and his crew were punctual, responsive, and quick. They did a great job, and left the site clean and the reusable lumber nicely stacked. The cost was only a little more than the contractor who bid to tear it down and throw the whole thing away, and we got a lot of nice lumber. We loved that he texted us frequently and sent photos of the progress. We are out of state owners, so this was especially important to us. Erich also had the lumber appraised, so that if we wanted to donate any of it to a nonprofit organization he works with, we could get a tax deduction (but as it turns out, we will be able to re-use almost all the wood in a new structure we're building). His model is eco-friendly and prevents needless waste. It's a good way to do business if you are in the sad position of having to take down an older barn. I wish more contractors made the effort to connect the dots this way - it's the right thing to do.
Description of Work: We needed an 1890s hay barn deconstructed and the lumber saved.

Tom Shea and his crew were fantastic. From coordinating the project through the final invoice he was a pleasure to work with. It was a big project, 8-10 weeks spread over 5 months because of winter weather. We had an unexpected abatement issue in the middle of the project and another company got involved, Tom and Deconstruction Works supported and accommodated all of the timeline shifts. I was really impressed and they even made modifications for the change in scope in a fair and logical way. In the end they salvaged about 75% of an old 1850’s farm house and while most of the materials were donated we kept some of the boards for a future project. Thanks Tom and crew for making that process as enjoyable as it could have been. Even our new neighbors were thanking me for selecting this company given the project was in the neighbors face, i’m really happy it all worked out so well. Thanks from Chris & Cory in Moretown, VT

The bathroom was the main project. Erich provided a fair estimate to gut the room to studs, and facilitated a new floor plan. The work was well done. Erich was honest, efficient, focused, creative and very fair in his pricing. He was attentive to my choices and answered questions, as well as offered suggestions that were helpful. He was reliable and easy to work with. I plan to continue to hire him for other home repairs and remodeling projects I have planned.

These are second-hand materials, but the roofing I received was in great shape and a fraction of its cost new from a lumber yard. When I installed it on a storage structure on my property, the roof still had a consistent black finish and looked new. Deconstruction Works often fits into my renovation projects. I saw he had an old clawfoot tub, and I integrated it into a rental property. Another time, he had a stack of 1 x 8 pine that worked out well as a bookshelf that my wife loves. Kruger has a good background in construction and seems to know what I need, often steering me to a better solution that I could come up with alone. He is efficient and no-nonsense. Over the course of the renovation of the rental, I believe he has saved me hundreds in materials costs and the final look of the projects has been on par with new materials.
Description of Work: I have been getting construction materials from owner Erich Kruger for years. This last transaction was one of many excellent ones. I emailed him what I needed, he emailed me back, and even delivered the materials (in this case roofing) where they needed to go.
