BEWARE!!! DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID!!! If I could give a NO star review, that's what this scammer would get. Mitch Harris took my $1,800.00 deposit for a job on a recent Saturday, then sent me his insurance info as promised, but supposedly couldn't "find" his lead paint certification...when the B.S.(echos of other reviews on here) continued over the next couple of days, I got suspicious and called his insurer. The policy was NOT in effect and had been cancelled. When he finally showed up(after 10am Tuesday) to get the job started, I informed him that he and his son(and girlfriend) wouldn't be allowed to start the job, since he had no insurance. I asked him to contact his insurer in front of me, so I could hear the conversation and he instead chose to call them from his junker truck. It was Friday before he finally emailed me proof of insurance, but still no lead certification. When I asked for my deposit back, he basically told me he'd already spent it on his bills and I would have to wait until he hussled some more customers out of their hard earned money before he could pay me back and "it would have to be in installments over time"! He then blocked me from messaging him through messenger and blocked me from his Facebook page. It's been nearly 3 weeks and Mitch has not returned a dime of my $.

RUN the other way! Mitch was originally hired for various home repairs and quoted me $1625. Every time he came it turned into something different and a bigger job that needed more money up front. When he put in an outside spigot, he said I needed a new hot water heater and I should pay up front, then he couldn't find the parts, then I didn't need the new hot water heater that I paid for that never showed up so we moved that credit to the roof which I did not have him do. As it turned out, I needed to replace my bathtub and the floor underneath it as the tub drain had been leaking for a while, which I did have checked by another person besides Mitch. Mitch assured me he could do it. He tore out the old bathtub on 10/8 and disappeared until 10/20 when they came to replace the floor. They replaced the floor but not the tub. They put the tub in on 10/26. I ended up going 20 days without a functioning tub/shower in my house and when they did say it was fixed on 10/27, I went to turn on the water and it wouldn't turn on. That took another couple days. I paid Mitch up front for everything until the very end when I refused to pay him the final $225 as he did such a terrible job and even admitted the tub job should have only taken 3 days. I told him I had filed a complaint with the BBB and was not paying the final $225. He threatened me with a lawyer. I did manage to get the $225 knocked off and an additional $250 refund which I hope will cover the repairs that still need to be done. I had a plumber come and check and the drain is still leaking under the trailer and it is going to cost a significant amount to have it fixed correctly because of the way Mitch and Sons put it together. They never finished fixing the walls or the trim. TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL! I never got an itemized receipt for anything he did. He continually harassed me for more money even once suggesting he would come and pick up the money to go and pick up the supplies I ordered at home depot that I had already paid for, he consistently canceled when he was supposed to be here, I had to literally argue with him to do things the way I wanted them to look and he still refused, he was very disrespectful, and in all I would rate him a TOTAL SCAMMER. HOLD ONTO YOUR MONEY!

Quality was okay but I was charged $800 extra for repairs and no painting was done. I paid $4800.00 for 20 hours of work and no painting. He weasled his way out of the painting because he said the repairs required more time. Every time he showed up, he wanted money. Stay away.

Overall, I wish I had never come across Mitch Harris' name and business. I'm still paying for the paint job 5 months (and counting) later because his mother and her boyfriend haven't paid a dime of rent and it's been 4 months. I honored my end of the deal. I even let them move in around the time of the paint job. They had their free month of October rent and I waived their security deposit. I had his mother and her boyfriend fill out and sign an application which listed the boyfriend's income at $1400/month. When I called Mitch Harris to intervene, he told me he has nothing to do with it. BEWARE of these thieves before you end up with these squatters in your home!!
Description of Work: I am a landlord and was in need of interior painting of one of my apartments. I called Mitch Harris who owns Mitch & Sons Painting. He came over and took a look at the job and quoted us $2200 for painting a 4 room apartment. I thought it was high quote and told him no. He said okay I'll make a deal with you. My mother and her boyfriend are moving up from Florida and are in need of an apartment. If you let them live in one of your vacant apartments in exchange for one month's rent ($675) and waive the security deposit ($675), I'll paint the apartment. I bought all the materials, brushes, gallons of paint, etc. to bring the costs down and they painted the apartment.
