Original: (Terrible with a capital 'T'. I gave the Shamrock workmen who came to our house a check for $200 as a deposit to do the work. After they left we decided we could not afford it. I called Shamrock and told James this and asked that he destroy the check. He said no problem. That was March 25. I looked at my checking account the next day or so. They did cash the check. I called on March 30 and then again on April 5. On April 6 I spoke with Chris and James at Shamrock. They both said "we mailed the check yesterday". Today is April 12 and we have no check. My wife called and the person she spoke with said they had deposited the money to our account "electronically". When my wife told the person that she would contact the attorney general's office if we did not receive a check for the $200 from Shamrock, he got rude and hung up on her. I went to my banks' website and looked at our account - there was no deposit of the $200 to our account. Why lie about this? Do they think they can steal people's money and get away with it?) This is a follow up to my review from yesterday : I called Shamrock again today. Chris - same spiel as every previous phone call : "what is this about? Who is this?" I asked for James in accounting as before. James : "check was processed - should be in mail by tomorrow." Then James transferred me to someone named John without warning. Turns out John is person who hung up on my wife yesterday when we called with the same question we have been asking for a week. He tells me it was she who hung up on him. He said the check was an "electronic check" and was sent out. He said this is a paper check from a bank. I asked who was the bank? John : "what does that matter?" Me : "so when I get a check in the mail I know what it is about. Who it is who sent it." John : "I don't know who the bank is. But it should be in your mail by tomorrow."(they told me this on April 6). Me : "I was told I should get a check in the mail last week". John : "I don't know what to tell you. Don't you know what an electronic check is? Open up your mail. You do open your mail, don't you?" He was getting more impatient and rude by the second. John : "I can't spend any more time on this". Me : "can you wait so I can talk? I should get an electronic deposit to my account?" John : "I can't spend any more time on this" and hung up on me. I can't recall being so mistreated by any company for many years. Total disrespect and arrogance. If you don't mind being treated this way, give them a call!

They upsold me on a flue pipe for my furnace which may or may not have been needed and the animal guard for the top. Didn’t clean the chimney left the top of my chimney a mess with black stuff on the sides of the top row of bricks. Didn’t tell me there was an issue with the fire box. When i called to speak to them about the issue with the fire box they “gentleman” was rude as soon as i answered my phone. He wouldn’t give me his name kept saying that i called and wanted a call back. He hung up on me.

They were one of two companies that Angie's List suggested when I was pricing out chimney cleaning for my mother. We have decided not to do anything at the moment without contacting either company. Chris from Shamrock Chimney called me this morning and asked if I'd like them to come out. (Remember, I did not contact them at all) I politely said no thanks we're not going to get work done right now and he starts getting upset. He then proceeds to complain to me that it cost him money to buy my info from Angie's List at which point I told him I thought that was terrible. He then said that it was me that was terrible for not being serious about getting work done and hung up the phone. If I am to get work done, I can tell you 100% it won't be from them now, that's for sure.

Not good. Canceled at the last minute. Rescheduled for two days later. They called the next day to confirm the upcoming appt and I had already lined up someone else so I canceled. Received 2 more calls, and then a third from Chris who started arguing with me about canceling. He then texted me saying he would “see me tomorrow”. I answered that I was canceling and was all set. Texted again! I told him NO do not come to my house! Felt very threatened. Very unprofessional!

Called Shamrock Chimney and spoke with Chris who quoted me a cleaning price while I was on the phone. The cleaning involved two technicians. One who would run the brushes down the chimney from the roof and one who would vacuum up the debris from the cellar. I agreed to the cost and we set up an appointment for 11/16/20 between noon and 3:00pm.. 1st service date(12-3) no show-they called @ 4:00pm to notify me that they wouldn't make it today 2nd service date(12-3)no show-Chris called @ 4:00pm to notify me that they wouldn't make it today and asked if I wished to make another appointment. Chris' demeanor and tone during our conversation was short and unprofessional as if he didn't care about their service mistakes or my unhappiness with them so fa. He swiftly proceeded to set another appt. date to get me off the phone. When I inferred that I may not want to make another appt. with them he said ok, let me know and hung up. After getting multiple quotes Shamrock was considerably less than anyone else. With the pandemic putting stress on finances I decided to continue with Shamrock and called back scheduling another appt. 3rd service date(12-3) Shamrock confirmed appt. the day before. I asked if they would still come out having snow on my roof? They stated "no problem we have the tools to handle the snow" - Technician James did arrived on time for this appointment and told me that he wasn't going to go up on the roof with the snow & pitch of roof. I told him that his company said that you have the tools to handle it. He said he didn't. He told me that he was working this area over the weekend and would personally be back then to handle the job.. 4th service date(weekend) Mike showed up (James??). Asked me about additional services that I had spoken with James about. We agreed on an additional service as well as a cleaning. We declined to do service today due to rain. 5th service date (12-3) Received appt. confirmation call the night before. Day of appt. no show, no call from any Shamrock employee. Called Shamrock and spoke to Chris who once again seemed irritated by my call and made another appt stating he has no idea who'll be showing up. 6th service date(12-3) no show, no call - again Called Shamrock next day and spoke to Mary who stated that they tried to reach me several times (wrong phone number). She said that's what we had on file. I asked where then does the person who calls to confirm my appt. get the number to call me from? She didn't answer but swore that she would stay on top of things this time maybe even getting someone over earlier (11-2) 7th service date(11-3) Mike showed up again (at 8:15am). While unloading their equipment Mike told me that he would be performing the cleaning from the cellar up due to the chimney cap on the peak of the chimney but if I wished to pay more I could get it done from top & bottom (as I was quoted). I told him to continue with the cleaning from the cellar. He told me that my duct work looked iffy and that he felt it may break when he tried to remove it for the cleaning. I told him that I was actually going to replace it and had already purchased the duct work. He stated that they couldn't use my stuff (company policy) and that it would cost me an additional $225.00 to install their duct work (my duct work cost me $85) but that they wouldn't start the chimney clean if I wasn't going to replace the duct work. First it was the chimney cleaning issue then the duct work issue. I felt that I was being coerced but since this nightmare had been going on for so long (11/16/20 - 1/2/21) I didn't want to wait any longer and just wanted to get this behind me and so I caved in and agreed. They went to their truck to get necessary duct work and returned to say that they didn't have the correct size. They decided to use some of mine and giving me a slight break. The replacement cost was still excessively high since removing it duct work and reinstalling it was included in the cleaning procedure to begin with and they didn't replace the complete duct work from boiler to chimney as I was under the impression that they were doing when I agreed to it. The technicians, who were very cordial, also did not have the correct type of vacuum (dustless) and had to clean their unit before starting the service and multiple times during the service. They left substantial soot residue on my lawn, a retaining wall outside the door and on the sidewalk. In retrospect I should have not let the cost drive me, cut my loses after the first missed appointment and started over with a different company. Word to the wise for those of you requiring chimney service, look somewhere else !!!!! And -Shame on you Angie for recommending this company !

Awesome!! Very easy to book an appointment, good availability. When it was discovered that I needed a repair, Mary called and offered me interest free financing. They were at my house a day later and the repair was done. They went above and beyond to help me finance the job, and accommodate my schedule. Fantastic customer service!!!!

I was pleased with the experience. The work looks good and they took pictures at my request to document it. They were prompt in responding to me, prompt in getting the work done, and communicative along the way. For whatever reason, I had trouble finding honest people to do my chimney work at a fair price but the experience with Shamrock was easy overall. They were also the cheapest quote for the work provided. I have a bit more work to do on my chimney (we have been getting smoke back into the living room from the fireplace) and I’ll hire Shamrock for that work as well. I recommend getting multiple quotes and multiple opinions since there is some subjectivity to chimney repair solutions in general.

Requested a quote from Angie's List and received a call/text from Shamrock Chimney from Chris. Found another company to use, replied to the text saying "Hello you can remove my name. Thank you for your time". Received a text back saying "Im paying for this lead so ill just send the bill to your address thats fine". Called and spoke to Chris who was extremely rude and hung up on me when i told him i found another service. Will be contacting the BBB as well.

I am so disappointed. This is one of the worst companies I’ve ever dealt with and would not recommend them. After researching several companies and reviews in late spring of this year on this site, a site highly recommended by friends, I gave this company a chance with chimney repairs for water leaking into fireplace. They applied mortar to top of chimney crown, spray sealed bricks and applied some rubber to lead flashing and cap. They assured me that should take care of water issues and all work was guaranteed. The fireplace is still leaking and water issues continue. I have called repeatedly, spoken to 3 different customer service people, told them this is an emergency as water pours into house with rain and all I get is runaround that they will call me back to have a service technician schedule a time to service but they never call nor send anyone to fix. They were very quick to collect payment in full, for service that was quite expensive, but are now not responsive to calls for service, especially in an emergency for work they performed, which is under their signed guarantee.

Over two months, they never showed. Cancellation after cancellation, disrupting our schedules over and over again as we waited for them to no avail. After a while they started promising hefty discounts, but what does a discount mean if no one ever shows up? Nothing, it means nothing. Dealing with Shamrock Chimney was the worst customer experience I've ever had.

I have not dealt with such pleasant people in a very long time. They understood the urgency of my repair and came right out to give me an estimate. I accepted right away because the price was very fair. I cannot speak highly enough of the service man, Joe. He even texted me pictures. Mary in the office was just as pleasant and was in contact with me constantly to give me updates. I highly recommend this company! I am now using them for all the properties I manage. What a homerun by finding Shamrock as a service provider. I even set my chimney cleaning up for my own house.

First appointment I was given a window of 12:00-3:00, recv'd a phone call at 4:15 to let me know they weren't going to make it. Rescheduled to a week later with 9:00-12:00 as my window. Got a call at 10:00 letting me know it was too windy (it wasn't) and they needed to reschedule. Following week I'm scheduled for 9:00-12:00 again. I called at 10am to confirm they were coming because, this day it was actually really windy and rainy. They confirmed they were coming (so the wind excuse from the week prior was BS) and they also confirmed they'd be arriving closer to 12:00, might be running like 15 minutes late. Fine. 12:20 rolls around and no one has arrived and I haven't gotten a call, so I called them again. Once again I'm told they're running late. I'm in the process of moving and didn't have time to wait around for them anymore so I rescheduled for the following week 8:00-10:00. I called them at 8:30 to find out when they'd be arriving. I was told they're not working that day and I should have gotten a text message the night prior. I didn't. And either way someone should have still called to reschedule (freaking again). For obvious reasons I ended up not using them. I don't understand how they are still in business with their horrible communication and inability to keep appointments.

Avoid, avoid, avoid. I would give them zero stars if Yelp allowed it. We made an appointment for Shamrock to clean two chimneys for us: one a standard a fireplace, the other from an oil burner. Shamrock cancelled twice--supposedly due to weather--then showed up to clean the chimneys today (even though it is raining). The servicemen looked at the chimneys, then told us that they had not packed the correct cleaning brushes, even though I had described both chimneys and their use in great detail to Chris--their dispatcher. They did not recommend any solutions or when they would be able to come back. In fact, they kept taking their masks off inside until I demanded that they keep the masks on. The ceaners did not give me the number for the Shamrock office until I insisted, claiming at first that they did not have the telephone number. I then asked them to wait while I spoke to Chris. They instead drove away without letting us know. Chris then told me that he would not clean the chimneys for the quoted amount and claimed that special chemicals would be needed due to "excess" usage (we use the fireplace 3-4 nights a week for 4 months a year). He also was incredibly brusque and defensive. When I told him that the servicemen had told me only that brushes would be needed, he said it did not matter, he would not clean the chimneys for the quoted amount. He kept saying he would have to increase the cost for the unspecified "chemicals", which he would not describe further. Two cancellations, servicemen who showed up unprepared, then an attempted upsale and holdup on the cost when I called to discuss the problem. I am totally unsatisfied, suspect that there was some dishonesty since we have standard chimneys that no chimney sweep has had issues with before. AVOID SHAMROCK.
