I needed a new spa cover because the old one was sagging very badly. With winter coming I knew it would not take much for my old cover to collapse. I called around and found Avalon to have the lowest cost for a custom fit cover. Chuck, the owner, came out within a few days to measure and he said he would have the new cover the following week. I waited until Saturday of the following week but still had not heard from him. When I called the store they told me he was out on a job and would call me back. He never did. On Monday I called again and when they gave me the same story I asked for his cell phone number. When I finally got Chuck on the phone he quickly came up with the excuse that something had happened at the manufacturer and for some reason my cover did not make it onto the truck. He promised me I would have it that week. Sure enough, he called on Friday and said it had arrived. He asked if he could bring it out that day. I foolishly agreed. I had to work until 6pm that night and since my spa is outside in my backyard he could deliver it without me being home. That was my mistake! The cover he delivered is the correct size if you turn it 90 degrees. In other words, he either measured it wrong or messed up when he told the company. Either way, it was wrong. When I called him on Saturday he disagreed that the measurements were wrong and told me that I do not know what I am talking about. I asked him to come by and I would show him and he agreed. I have not seen him yet and I only get voicemail when I try and call him now. Lousy service and no attention to detail are why I will NEVER go to Avalon again.

I needed a new liner in my pool, and had three companies come out to do estimates. The other two companies told me that I needed to replace my floor, while Avalon said with confidence that they could repair the existing floor. They were also the lowest bidder on the job. Their professionalism in the sales process was quite good, and they do make you feel good about the process. There were unfortunately numerous problems with the work done. (1) First as they were repairing the floor, I could hear the workers complaining about the large rocks that were in their 'concrete' floor repair compound. The large rocks stayed. I had actually paid a good deal extra to have a floor with a padded floor, but with the rocks under the liner made it impossible to walk in parts of my pool. (2) The pump and filter combination did not work well together. I was told by the company I switched to later that the pump was too powerful for the filter, and I need the next pump size down. I had actually sold the pump I had previously which was the next size down as I had been consulted to do by Avalon, when I bought the new pump. This made the pools vacuum system not work, and I had to purchase an independent vacuuming system that did not work through the pools pump and filter. (3) The pump and filter were brand new, but I had to within one year purchase tow new parts for them including a new gauge. (4) The expensive liner that I bought was leaking within a few months of my purchase. (5) During the sales process I was told that side clips would be included in the sale, but I was later charged for them. (6) I received 5 final bills from Avalon many weeks apart. They were very unorganized, and seemed to not have an idea what the actual charge for the pool was (hopefully this was the case, and they were not just continually fishing for never-ending money). The first three times I went to the store and paid the bill in full expecting to be done with payment, only to receive more final bills weeks later. It wasn't that a bill had been mailed during the time that I had paid either, these bills were separated by many weeks and kept coming. They sold my pump on consignment and were supposed to take this off of my bill, but would continually forget to. They charged me for things that I was told were included in the job. The last two bills were of a more threatening nature. (7) Avalon just does not have it's act together. In comparison with other pool companies in the area, they fell far short of Leisure World. Don't take the lowest bidder, I knew this going in and still let myself be taken.
