AlTerra Contruction was very professional and easy to work with from the planning stages through construction for our deck project. We had a lot of questions going into the project and Dylan took the time to talk to us about all of our options and his recommendations. He was very knowledgeable and we definitely felt that we could trust his work. When it came time for construction he and his assistant were always on time and worked very efficiently. They kept us updated throughout the project and cleaned up well afterward. We are very happy with the quality of their work and would use them again for future projects.
Description of Work: Removed and rebuilt back deck and front steps, fixed leak in roof exhaust pipe.

It was easy to get a quote from them. The price and recommendation is why they are going to do the work, starting tomorrow.

After meeting with several contractors & getting several bids on updating a 4 season room, I chose to go with ALterra Construction. For me the deciding factor in choosing Alterra was the feeling of trust I had that I would never be taken advantage of if and when the unknown and unexpected happened, as it always does. Working with Dylan was an absolute pleasure from beginning to end!! He understood what my wife and I wanted which made the process of selection so much easier for us. We had an idea of what we were looking for and had many pictures of rooms and fireplaces we liked but Dylan made our thoughts and ideas a reality, he built us exactly what we wanted. As always when you purchase a home, unexpected problems arise. Dylan was beyond fair in how he priced out the additions to the original project. Everyone he introduced me to for work outside his area of expertise was as honest and fair as Dylan. His workers were all very respectful of our home and a pleasure to have in our home. Now that we are done with Phase 1, we have to come up with Phase 2 just so we can have him back around the house again. I highly recommend ALterra to anyone and I would not think twice about calling him again for our next project.
Description of Work: Dylan helped us design and rebuild a 4 season room that is now the main focus of our home. New windows, radiant floors, wood burning stove insert in an amazing stone wall with built in TV, wood floors and sliding door gutted and rebuilt guest bathroom, repainted entire house. built drainage ditch to remove water buildup around back of house

Definitely call him for an estimate and talk over your project with him. I guarantee you will be happy you did so.
Description of Work: I called Dylan to talk over a project and discuss some things. I was completely impressed by how quickly he returned my call, his level of customer service and the time he spent with me on the phone. I look forward to meeting him and finding out his estimate for my remodeling. I was so impressed just from the phone conversation that I wanted to post something.

The quality of the work has been excellent. Everyone who the contractor has brought in to work on our home has been friendly, professional, and courteous. The contractor was straightforward about costs, and flexible with our evolving needs, but occasionally too optimistic regarding when each stage of the project was expected to be completed. There have been a few glitches along the way, some due to miscommunication, some to delays in materials being delivered to the contractor or to the homeowner, or to other factors, but overall we've been happy.
Description of Work: (Ongoing) The provider replaced nearly all the windows in our house, installed many new interior doors, remodeled our bathroom, painted interior walls, replaced exterior siding, contracted outside experts for plumbing, floor refinishing, electrical work including rewiring of house, etc.

This provider had previously done a $1300.00 job in our kitchen that involved removing a column to open up the kitchen space. The work was well done and we paid in full on the day of completion. (early April 2013). We then asked the contractor if he would install/tile a kitchen counter (approximately 6 feet). At that time we also emphasized that if the job was too small or it could not be completed by the end of June we understood and would find someone else. We emphasized that we would be having a house appraisal in the summer and completion in a timely manner was essential. The contractor assured us that he wanted to do the job and that it could be completed in June. By mid- July we had a partially finished unusable counter. The work that had been done involved an hour or two here and there during a couple of visits and it was unsatisfactory with misaligned tiles and uneven placement, etc.. We have made repeated (documented) calls to the contractor which have rarely been returned. Sometimes we called three times a week and received no response. The few times he has responded we have been told how busy he is and promises have been that have rarely been kept. As of today, August 23, the work is still incomplete, the counter not usable, and we are left with an unfinished mess. My last call , made three weeks ago, pleasantly stated that the job needed to be finished, that the work is not completely satisfactory, and that we are very frustrated. We stated that we will have to find another means of finishing this job if he doesn't contact us soon as to what he is doing. The call has not been returned. Since we purchased the supplies this is doubly frustrating because any tiles that have to be removed and replaced are at our financial loss. We thought that we had found a good contractor for our home remodeling projects that are coming up but Alterra Construction, has sadly turned out to be a great disappointment. My father was a lifelong contractor, my brother still is, and my husband worked with my father for a number of years. We know what is and isn't quality work and the way that customers should be treated. This whole situation has been neither quality work or quality treatment.
Description of Work: What the provider said he would do: tile installation/kitchen counter.

Very professional. A joy to work with, and he listened to my wife when she talked about what needed to be done.
Description of Work: Called in for a small drywall job. A bunch of small repairs and fixes prior to new cabinets and built-ins being installed. Responded quickly and was able to work within my tight schedule.

Dylan and the team were professional, neat (both in my living space and in quality of the work). I got multiple bids and they were right in line with the price and I appreciated the honest evaluation of the issues in my home. I always received a text about when to expect them to arrive and I can promise I will be back with a larger remodeling project in the future.

ooStill working still ongoing on kitchen remodel. Problems with backorder on kitchen counter and travertine tile did not all match( so had to reorde)- caused delay in job completion. But that was better than Dylan using the tiles that were way too dark (tho same product). Price seemed reasonable to me- but did not seek other pricing since I trust Dylan to do good work and stand behind his work. This is my fourth job with Alterra Construction.
Description of Work: Kathleen of Alterra Construction helped with selection of cabinets, counters and especially with the flooring and backsplash tile. I let Alterra chose the microwave and hood that met my parameters. I had about 6 choices of counters- and she brought even more samples to my home along with flooring tile and backsplash samples. Alterra Construction did most of removal of cabinets, etc (I did some myself), installed cabinet, counters and appliances, paint wall and ceiling, installed window and doors (Iincluding pocket door and sliding glass door), and trim work and had plumber and electrician sub contractors Alterrra is responsible for disposal of materials (though I got rid of some myself). Likewise I did some painting and removed bumpy ceiling myself. I leave sticky notes and emailed Dylan if I have questions or concerns, which are addressed. I also talk to Dylan about weekly.

Dylan and Mark are excellent team to work with. They worked on 2 projects for us so far. Both were completed on time (well, with tiny delay but still excellent comparing to any other any contractor I ever worked with). They clearly take pride in their work and do not slack. Their quote was better out of 4 quotes I received for the projects and I could not be happier with the result :)

Dylan moved the the furniture as needed, though I took out most of drawers to reduce the weight. Dylan cleans up every day so dust and trash was very minimum. Went very smoothly until new carpet installation. Unfortunately the carpet people forgot to order the carpet and this error was not noticed until Dylan was ready for the carpet. So there was a delay for carpet installation and completion of job. One of the bifold door bottom pivot was lost in the shuffle, so I had to buy one and install that bifold door. The rooms look great and Kathleen does a great job selecting paint colors. Much more adventurous that I am Dylan did my bathrooms a few years ago and I plan to hire for my kitchen remodel next year.
Description of Work: In 2 bedrooms, 1 walk in closet and upstairs hallway. - Removed bumpy paint ceiling, refinished and painted ceiling. Removed and replace door casing. Painted walls. In 2 bedrooms Removed old carpet and sub-contracted new carpeting. Installed new hall light. Replace broken 3 way light switch.
