Answered a lot of our questions and solved a big ventilation and moisture problem we didn't even know they could cover. They were friendly, easygoing, conscientious, and professional.

I got a hold of New Leaf's name and number through Efficiency Vermont's database when I searched for home performance contractors in Hinesburg, VT. My husband and I had just bought our house and we knew we needed to get an energy audit performed on the house before we did any work to it- and we were lucky we did! New Leaf discovered during the energy audit that our new house had minimal insulation levels and major air leaks! The owner of New Leaf, who performed the energy audit, was very sweet to let me tag along during the audit process. He did a great job of doing a kind of show-and-tell audit for me. He would use their infrared camera (while the blower door was running) in order to get a peak inside the walls to pinpoint where the leaks were- it was so cool! They took the time to answer ALL of my questions in such a genuine way that made me feel good because they were very patient and knew that the information they were giving me was dense and can be overwhelming, so they took the time to explain it exceptionally well. After the audit was performed on the house, New Leaf came back and hand delivered the audit report. This was a great feature to their service as we ended up having a face-to-face discussion on what they thought were the best steps to take to tighten up the home (within our budget). The actual report was 16 pages long and full of information, images and recommendations... I was thrilled that they were able to summarize the report for me in the meeting! During the discussion, they also disclosed what type of incentive money we could expect to receive through Efficiency Vermont and the estimated percentage energy savings if we completed the recommended insulation work. We knew when we bought the house that the roof needed new shingles, so we were already planning on such a project, which we told New Leaf during the audit. New Leaf was thrilled with this news because it was going to be a perfect opportunity (and the least expensive way) to fill up the roof cavities with insulation. New Leaf coordinated the whole project. They got the roofer to the house to pull of the existing shingles and then New Leaf's crew came in right behind the roofers to start pumping the non-toxic cellulose material into the roof. When the New Leaf crew was done, the roofers were right back to put the new shingles on. I still cannot believe how well it worked out. It was great having New Leaf be able to do the audit and then have the same company come in to do the insulation work, it makes me think things were done well because everyone was on the same page as to where the major leaks were and what the appropriate insulation levels should be in the roof since they are in the energy efficiency business. Also having New Leaf coordinate all the work including the roofing work, took a huge weight off my shoulders. They whole project took 3 days! It was amazing. What really made me feel good about the whole thing was the fact that New Leaf came back to re-test the house after the work was done. They took new infrared images and compared them to the old infrared images to make sure they were able to seal up the holes they found in the beginning. They made such a difference in the house that we qualified for a significant incentive! And the work they did helped to lower our homes operating costs! We loved working with New Leaf so much, that we have had them come back to do a bunch of remodeling work too, including: install hardwood floors, tile floors, and to finish out the basement! They have such a great crew that is so pleasant to work with!
