It was not an easy task but he stuck with it until it was all done. He has become my true handyman. He always comes promptly and does the work very well and is most cheerful.

Josh came to start the work about 3-4 days after we called. I had attempted repairs on the closet door twice myself, but both had failed within a week. Josh was able to assess the root of the problem and rearrange the hardware so that the door now works perfectly. He also attached a wood shelf to a stud and hollow wall. He fixed a stripped furniture screw. He charged $20 for the hour these things took. He was pleasant, polite, and clean.
Description of Work: Repaired bifold door of hall closet, hung shelf onto wall, secured a loose couch leg.

Josh is a very nice person but should have advised of the fact that he didn't know how to do the work I requested nor correctly estimate how long it would take him. One of my garage doors had come detached from the steel plate that pulls it up and pushes it down. When Josh came to give an estimate, he portrayed confidence that he would be able to do what I was expecting. The work is done, but because he installed a new steel bar then had to remove it to reinstall correctly; he charged me more labor charges that he didn't allot for in the estimate. Josh had never installed steps. I wanted my front steps removed and new longer, wider ones put in. Again, he seemed like he could handle the request so I hired him to do that as well. Unfortunately, he severely underestimated the amount of time it would take due do his inexperience and charged me the difference. When I questioned the final bill's change in labor time, he replied that he hadn't ''gotten the hang'' of estimating time to complete a job. The steps look unfinished, there are 2x4's nailed to the risers and gaps between the boards. The frame is for 3 steps, but the bottom step is about 3 inches taller than the other two. Due to this inconsistency, I have fallen two times already. I touched base with Josh upon receiving my first request to grade his service. I wanted to advise that I was dissatisfied and wanted the stairs fixed. I think he was under the assumption that I was trying to get something from him that I didn't pay for, and seemed to insinuate that I knew exactly what I was getting. I expected a finished product and what I got was the ability to pay someone else to fix his work. I'm sure he's a great handyman and can do SMALL jobs, but beware if you have a job that requires a lot of time or is difficult . Josh is very nice and I got the impression from him that he takes pride in his work, but because he couldn't do something right the first time, I had to pay for his learning curve.
Description of Work: Fixed garage doors, installed new front steps.

Terrible overall. He did contact me promptly, was responsive to early questions I had about converting a commode into the base for a sink, and we accomodated each others' schedules. He reviewed an e-mail listing type of work by location inside and outside my home, then looked at task on-site and said he could do them all. He followed with a materials list with item #s from Lowe's and the cost per task for labor. We agreed I'd get the materials to save me money and Josh time. At Lowe's, the employee who helped me did not understand why we were not using ready-mixed cement instead of must-be-mixed Josh had listed. I called Josh and he said ready-mix would be okay. The beadboard Josh had listed was cheap MDF kind and I called him again to confirm using actual wooden board was okay. Because of weight of cement bags I was able to transport only 6 of a total of the total of 12 bags of cement along with beadboard. I unloaded myself as I needed my truck bed for other things. When Josh arrived on 9/25/13 to work we reviewed indoor tasks, he did not seem confident using a stud-finder. He did help me experiment with various wall mirrors and ideas for recessing bathroom cabinets. When he went to screw back in a small sheetrock ceiling pane he said it did not fit right and asked if I was sure it was the right panel. I said yes, it had been removed several years ago, maybe it had expaned a bit. I then looked and realized he was holding the panel backwards to the screw holes in the framework. Once he turned the panel around it fit fine. I thought 'Wow, that's pretty basic stuff he couldn't figure that out.and quot; We agreed I'd look up the weather forecast, and since it was good, we agreed to focus on outside work first.Josh reviewed the instructions on the bag of cement and informed me he did not feel comfortable after all doing either the garage floor or stoop work he'd previously said he could do. At that point Josh agreed to help me return the six bags of cement to Lowe's and pick up a few other things we'd need. He did put in my truck a sink I'd changed my mind about and he helped me find a different one (this was at a used building supply store.) Josh offered to pick up the wood filler he's suggested we use for one of the tasks. We got back to my home having accomplished almost nothing on the list. I offered to give him a key to my home as I would not be there when he came back to work in a couple of days, we agreed it would be around 10a.m. I called him that morning at 10:45a.m. and he had not been to my home yet, he said he was at Home Depot and was having trouble finding the wood filler. I asked him if he'd asked an employee where it is located. I was calling to let him know where the shingle he would be replacing on the upper side of my home was in the garage. He then told me he did not have a ladder to get on the roof and had checked with his insurance company and found out he was not insured to be on a roof. I was flabbergasted and asked him why he'd not checked his insurance before now. Apparently he just had not thought to check this before agreeing to do yet another task on my list, replace a shingle. At that point I asked him if he would prefer to not to any of the work left, that it seemed to me that might be best. He agreed. He said he'd e-mail me later a bill for work he'd done. I texted him that he still had my key I'd need back, that I was open to suggestions on that. He texted me and said he expected to be paid the next day for the work, he was counting on the money. I texted back I expected to see a bill to review before I'd agree to that. I did receive an e-mail with the bill, it was $90, which I have a copy of if Angie's list would like to see that bill and exchange between Josh and me. This morning I left a check taped to the outside door and Josh put my key through my mail slot as we'd agreed upon. I will close by saying this is my recollection of how things happened. For me, the bottom line is Josh saw my list, reviewed the work on-site, said none of the things would be a problem and then could not do the work due to what seems to be lack of confidence or maybe it's inexperience with the actual type of work he agreed to as well as not carrying the proper liability insurance.
Description of Work: He performed a few tasks on my "to do" list (removed blinds, screwed a sheetrock panel in, adjusted a closet door, helped me move lg. sheets of beadboard & set up painting station, accompanied me to return some materials, select a new sink/cabinet..

[Member name removed], Thank you for the wonderful review! You and your husband are a great addition to my customer base. I'm extremely blessed to have the opportunity to work with you both. At first, when I did the walk through with your husband, I was overwhelmed! We looked at so many things, and we barely touched the list he had in his hand. However, we talked about everything, and he made sure I was comfortable doing each task as we discussed them. It's amazing that I get to add another great customer to my clientele. Thank you for choosing me as your right hand man! I'm extremely greatfull, and look forward to working with you two more in the future. Thank you for being such a great hospitable customer!

Josh arrived promptly at the stated time, less than a week from my initial call. He was pleasant and courteous. The tools were with him in his vehicle. All the work was completed efficiently and well.
Description of Work: Josh adjusted 2 bifold doors, and trimmed the bottom of a standard door, to fit over thick carpeting. He attached baseboard molding to a half-bath. He adjusted a kitchen cabinet door. He removed a stripped screw from a challenging location.

Josh arrived on time, introduced himself and got right down to the job. He was able to chat while he worked without wasting any time. He completed the task in a short time and was off. What a joy to have found him.
Description of Work: For four years I have been trying to find someone to do little projects for me. Not an easy task as most would rather have big jobs. However, Josh has the foresite to see a little job could lead to bigger jobs. He put together and stabilized a bathroom shelf in a timely manner. He chatted along letting us know what other things he could do for us.
