Description of Work: NO WORK DONE YET - SCHEDULED FOR SPRING. JEFF CAME, MEASURED, AND GAVE SOME GOOD SUGGESTIONS AND A ROUGH FIGURE. FOLLOWED UP WITH A FORMAL QUOTE, ITEMIZING ALL WORK TO BE DONE. PRICE VERY COMPETITIVE, COMPARED WITH ANOTHER QUOTE, WHICH DIDN'T EVEN LIST THE WORK TO BE DONE.

I got the name of the company from Angie's List. Jeff called me back the same day I made my first phone call and we met the next morning at 8:00 to discuss the job. I got one other quote from another painting company. The quotes were similar, but the specifics (paint, coats, methodology were different. I suspect both methods would have been okay, but we were looking to do the job done soon and we would have had to wait for the other company to do the job. I don't regret my decision. Jeff did what he said he would do the way he said he would do it. The results are excellent. I suppose the real test is how the paint looks ten years down the road, but I was very happy with Jeff's work. It's a whole new ball game with lead paint regulations.
Description of Work: Painted the exterior of an old building. The building at some point had been painted with lead paint, so using the required lead paint procedures was required. The nails holding the clapboards were loose, so the job also included tightening up all the nails. Most of the old paint was scraped off using a machine which vacuumed up the scrapings. Only a little paint in a few spots was remaining after the sanding. Top-of-the-line Sherwin Williams Duration paint was used. It was applied with a sprayer and then hand brushed. Jeff usually works alone, but he did hire someone to help nail in all the nails. He also did the trim on another small cabin which also had old lead paint in some places. Jeff was always prompt, professional, and pleasant. I have already hired him to do an interior paint job.

Jeff showed up to view the property and give me an estimate...first thing I noticed was that he asked me a lot of questions about "how I wanted it to look"...and listened to my answers. He spent a good deal of time looking at what needed to be done, gave me an estimate and a date to begin. He arrived early every morning and went straight to work, and stayed until either a specific part was finished, or nothing more could be done until the next day. Gave me updates on the progress and consulted with me on how a project could be done. I never saw anyone work so diligently and so hard. Prices came in right around estimate, and I would call the quality of work SUPERIOR. Jeff is knowlegable, polite, and pleasant to have around. When work is done on your own property one has expectations, and I can tell you his expectations are higher than mine. I never imagined the house could look so wonderful. I have had a parade of carpenters and contractors working on various upgrades in the house in the last 14 years...they were mediocre to awful.....and I now understand that the mediocre one was awful too. I love my home, and I cannot say enough about Jeff. He is coming back to help with the interior painting and crown molding when it is too cold to work outside, although I am told he works outside in any weather. I saw him outside painting a friends siding and asked her about him...knowing how particular she is about her home, I knew it had to be someone who was good. She has known him for years. I think Ridge Top is one of those gems...like a best kept secret in Vermont.
Description of Work: Pressure washed my cedar siding, bringing it back to its' original vibrant color, without damage to the wood. Sealed the siding and deck, including rails. Dug out and repaired (perfectly) rotted wood around door frame. Scraped all chipped and peeled paint on deck rails and doorframes. Primed and painted all of those surfaces, including two wooden arbors over the garage door and window (after removing them to work on them), and front and back doors. Did not spill a drop! Sanded away rust spots on metal standing seam roof, repaired holes in roof...washed roof down with cleansing solution, and painted it...two coats! Built two wooden gates for the deck, helping me with practical issues of design...and paint color. Discovered and repaired rotted sill under my garage. And dug out and replanted a shrub for me.
