Craig Finnell came out looked at our roof & responded in very timely fashion with a detailed list of what service they would provide, as well as, a list of previous customers, certificate of liability insurance, samples of shingles & the quote. After accepting the job, Mr. Finnell contacted us by email as to when to they would be out, however, it rained that day. His crew did come out the day it started to rain, dropped off the supplies, covered them with a tarp & told us they would be back when the weather cleared. The day that it stopped raining, the crew showed up ready to work. Mr. Finnell came by too, apologized for the rain delay & told us not to worry about anything. The men had the old shingles striped & dumped into their truck, tarps covered our lawn where they were stripping. They placed a new ridge vent & had the roof covered in black paper on the first day. The next day came out & started in with the shingles & had that done. The 3 days they came by to make sure they everything & mean everything cleaned up. No nails in the yard, paper or left over shingles. The gutters were cleaned out. Just a wonderful job done, very courteous, professional crew. A great pleasure to work with!!

I am very satisfied with the services I received from Craig Finnell Roofing. I first saw an ad in the Brattleboro, VT newspaper, and then found two very positive reviews on Angie's List. Our first phone conversation occurred in early September 2012. Immediately, I was struck by his confident and enthusiastic approach to life and his calling; a first impression that has lasted through out our contact. In mid October I met Craig at my house in Greenfield, where we looked over the job and signed the contract. He was just starting a big job at Mount Snow in Dover, Vt, and let me know that my job would be next after that. My house was built in 1880 and has seven roof sides, four on the upper three gable ended main part, and a three sided wrap-around porch. The 1930's garage also needed a new roof. Originally roofed with cedar shingles on 1" pine board strapping, the house had never been stripped ,and as many as five layers of asphalt had been added. One of the attractions of a metal roof to me was that once all was stripped off to the original strapping, the new high-tech roll out underlayment could be attached , then new strapping and then the screw down metal roofing. Thus, not having to endure the expense of re-sheathing the entire roof with plywood to accommodate conventional asphalt roofing. The crew arrived in the middle of December and began removing the enormous amount of old roofing material, when I arrived home from work each day I would find it picked up and carted off by their dump truck. His crew, Rocky, Ronnie, Aaron and Rob (think that was his name) were hard working and courteous. Bad weather set in, snow and rain storms, bone chilling cold snaps, causing delay. But they persevered and I am very pleased with the result of their effort, I will never forget returning home up Elm Street and seeing the new roof for the first time; the beautiful green roof, under the tall oak trees behind, and the late afternoon winter sky above, causing a great emotional response inside me. I heartily recommend Craig Finnell Roofing. Especially in the service I engaged him in. The other four roofers I spoke to had no experience in metal roofing. I was happy to find someone from North of the Border where the new innovations in this age old method of roofing seem to be more recognized.

He let us know exactly when he would arrive and updated us when his plans had to change due to weather conditions. He arrived the day he said he would and worked over 5 days, like he said he would. The work was fast, efficient, very high quality and a superb job was done with clean up. He sent us a bill shortly afterwards, we mistakenly sent it to the wrong address and it was returned to us. Yet, he was polite and understanding about our stupidity, even though it made things h****** him. I highly recommend this business for all your roofing needs. He did a fantastic job!!
Description of Work: He put a new shingled roof on our roof, removed rot, put in a new sky light.

It was superb. What I liked initially was the price. He was difficult to get a hold of. I did get a few bids last fall. The first company's bid was in the $15,000 area. Another company gave me a $10,500 bid. The bid from Finnell was $7,000. He had 3 pages of references, which included a lot of people in this area. I called them and got excellent results. When I met with him, he told me of someone he knew that tried to sue him unsuccessfully. I appreciated this great candor. The type of shingle he used was touted by another company as the best shingle. I had an old tv antenna on tip of the roof. He removed that for nothing. The house has vinyl siding. Some came loose over the years, so he fixed that. He explained the whole process very well. I had a metal edge that prevents ice dams from backing up. He said he could do that again, but he didn't think I would need it. He gave me a date when he could be here, except for rain. He called to let me know he wouldn't be here because of a heavy rain. The next day they were on time and Cleaned up well. He came and checked up well. I was worried about nail and tar being everywhere. It is pretty immaculate. He strung tarp down the side of the house so nothing would be messed up. It was a good experience. I highly recommend him. He thought there might be a tax advantage in doing the work that was done. One of the pieces of siding showed a little. The guys who were here forgot to do that. He did that today when he came out. He left the guarantee from the shingle company. It was a great experience.
Description of Work: They re-shingled my roof. I had two layer of shingles on there that had to be taken off. They did that and then re-shingled.
