Bob's Hardwood Floors

Honest. Direct. Reasonable. It's rare you find a skilled contractor like Bob. In the middle of a rush on contractors in southern VT Bob was able to find a way to complete a refinishing and polishing job over 3 days that transformed a neglected oak hardwood floor to a shiny, water sealed finish. Additional polishing of older, damaged laminate floors across 3 bedrooms and a hallway similarly transformed a downstairs sleeping spaces. Final cost was roughly half what others quoted and scheduled months earlier. Highly recommend Bob for any/all floor refinishing needs. He does all the work himself, followed up by phone afterwards to ensure or was done right, and takes genuine pride in the work he does. Hard to go wrong with a company like this.

No problems. Minimal dust and mess

On day 2 of the 3 day process, there were overlap lines in the poly that were very noticable. Bob said that wasn't a problem to fix, but it is hard to get a satin finsh smooth. He had suggested the satin, we would have been fine with a semi-gloss. A week after the job was finished, Bob was back trying to fix the same areas. It is much better, however, there are still areas around the edge of the floor where you can see the poly wasn't spread to the edge of the boards. I believe he sprayed instead of brusing it on. Looks like he was afraid of getting it beyond the edge so didn't cover the ends. There are also ripples in the wood in two of the doorways from the sander. On a couple of walls, there are black marks that need to be repainted because they won't wash off. And finally, the stair treds were poorly stained around the spindles, having missed spots, leaving light areas and other spots that are darker because they didn't spread the stain evenly. Overall, the floors look better than they did but a definite lack of attention paid to details.

Bob did an amazing job correcting all the significant damage done by the Wells, VT contractor. After undergoing a full winter and very humid summer, I can say with confidence that Bob is the consummate professional. From now on only Bob's Hardwood Flooring will work on my floors.

Bob is a great guy. We scheduled an appointment for him to come to our house and provide an estimate. He arrived right on time, introduced himself and got right to work examining the floors and taking rough measurements. He then took the time to ask us what we were looking for in a result and he let us know how the floors would look if he did such and such. It was a great discussion and we really felt like Bob wanted to be sure that we got what we wanted. Once we decided what we wanted, we scheduled a date to start. We were also doing some other home repairs and due to a scheduling conflict we had to re-schedule Bob. A week passed and the other contractor didn't come through so we called Bob and asked him if he could start as originally planned and he immediately agreed. Talk about super service! Bob arrived on the appointed day and began the resurfacing work. At the end of the first day, he was kind enough to call me and let me know how the work was going and assure me that everything was OK. He did this unsolicited, he just wanted to make sure that I was going to be happy with the job. All in all, the work took four work days. One for refinishing and the one day each for the re-finishing. When he was done, Bob called again to tell me how the job had come out and how each of the areas looked. I was impressed. When we got to the house, we were amazed at the quality of the work Bob had done. The wide pine wood floors had been heavily damaged by water and abuse. The original finish was worn off completely in many areas and especially on the stairs, the treads had taken on a dark grey color from water damage. If you look at the pictures posted, the and quot;knottyand quot; pine pictures are ours and the pictures do not do the floors justice. They came out wonderfully. It's too bad you can't see how badly the floors were damaged when he started (they were much worse looking that the photos indicate) and the completed pictures don't do justice to how well they came out. As you can tell, my wife and I are extraordinarily pleased with Bob's work. We would hire him again in an instant and heartily endorse him.

He does sanding, refinishing and installation. He has reasonable rates. He has sixteen years of experience. He is fully insured. He is one of the nicest gentlemen whom I have ever met. He is a young man with a family. He can take an old floor and make it look like art work. He is very conscientious. He never leaves the job without looking back. He came over with his wife to pick up a check, he wanted his wife to see the floor. They brought me a wooden serving board that his wife made into the shape of Vermont with cheese on it. It was very nice of them to do that.

Went exactly as expected, finished in 3 days (except for curing, of course). Am told result is beautiful, although I have not yet seen the finished floor.

We hired Bob Santos to refinish our old oak hardwood floor in our dinning room. The house (and floor) is about 100 years old and we don't know when the last time the floor had been refinished. There were also two spots where the old heating ducts were that needed to be repaired. Both areas just had a piece of plywood covering it. Bob was extremely professional-called when he was going to be a little later than he said. And the inconvenience to having the floor done was at a minimum-we just had to stay off of it for a few hours each day. It took a total of 4 days-a day longer than he thought as well as a little higher than his quote because one of the areas to be repaired took longer than expected. The end result is beautiful. There are many scratches he could not get out because they are very deep-it is over 100 years old, after all. But, that adds to the character.
