They began the work in January, digging the hole for the cellar. They broke the main water pipe into the house which they fixed. The water froze and they had to put heat tapes around the pipe. (I have never had frozen pipes before) The excavator dropped my 250 gal kerosine tank while digging near it. I lost some kerosine before they were able to right it. It should have been moved beforehand. Pouring rain in the January thaw came into the newly poured concrete cellar and floor because there was not proper covering support provided. I had to go down to the cellar almost every hour and push up on the poles to empty the water cavities that were created. The salimander heater that was brought in to dry the cement did not work right and there were terrible fumes throughout my living quarters. They finally got another one (which I had to pay extra for). The work was painfully slow, and the addition was not fiinished with siding until this May ('2010). With the first big rainfall, I had water enteriing into the cellar on all three sides where the floor and walls meet. I had to shop-vac the water out and there were about 25 gallons of water. I called Wendell and he was slow in coming over to check it out and said it probably just needed time to settle down. The summer was very dry and so was the cellar until we had a huge nor'easter this fall. Water poured in for two days and I was up day and nite to shop-vac it out. I kept track and emptied out over 155 gallons of water with 5 gallon buckets. I called Wendell and got no response for 3 weeks. I kept leaving messages for him to call me and he finally came over with some kind of patch material that he put in all the joinings where floor meet walls. His excuse was that he was working out of state. Water continues to enter the cellar in areas that were not sufficiently covered. I again have notified Wendell and he says he will come to put another coat on, or put in a sump pump. The major problem here is that he did notfigure the correct drainage angle for the drain pipe to carry away water from the foundation. I will add here that I live alone and am a 66 year old woman. This has been a terriffic burden and should never have happened and I am hoping that it will be corrected.
