Outstanding! This is about Tom Phenicie, the owner of Blue Ridge Custom Builders, Inc. (a Virginia corp.) To us, these names stand for honesty, achievement and excellence in all facets of home building, including design and construction, customer service and quality. Once the decision to have a custom built home, choosing a homebuilder is without question one of the most important decisions that buyers face. We are pleased to share our story and experience with others considering Blue Ridge Custom Builders for their dream home. During a missions trip, our home burned to the ground. Though encouraged by the fact that our home had been built for us in a perfect location, we were still anxious, as the process of rebuilding our home was filled with many unknowns and was a bit overwhelming to us. Then we met Tom Phenicie (pronounced "Fhenn - iss - ee") who immediately put us at ease with his welcoming personality and straightforward answers to our many questions. He listened to our needs. We had come to be acquainted with Tom's beautiful work because he built the absolutely lovely home of some dear friends of ours. Following the total destruction of our home, we asked our dear friends, Marty and Kim Emswiller, about their builder. We had never heard such a rave review of a builder. Marty commented on the fact that Tom was ALWAYS on the job of building their home - each and every time he visited the project (and Marty and Kim live less than a quarter of a mile from their new home site, so his visits were very frequent). Kim agreed and added that she had never dealt with a more honest individual. When pressed about this, she didn't back down at all, but, rather, added that she would literally trust her life to this man, Tom Phenicie. We were stunned! We continued to think about their lovely home that Tom Phenicie built vis-a-vie Blue Ridge Custom Builders - plus the radical, total honesty what they experienced through their dealings with this man, Mr. Phenicie. Throughout the building process, we continued to have direct access to Tom, his experience and insight, and his ability to envision things that would enhance the beauty of our home. We made a number of visits to the site during construction, and were always met with Tom's enthusiasm and excitement, which sometimes nearly seemed to rival our own. He suggested several design modifications to further customize and improve the home for us, and provided many items at only his cost so they could become a reality for us within our budget. He truly wants his clients to be happy and give them a unique home. Our completed home has exceeded our expectations. This is in large part due to Tom Phenicie, who is a true craftsman. The quality of his finish work is one of those critical areas which really sets our house apart. His attention to detail and his professionalism are remarkable. The leap of faith we took in choosing a somewhat lesser known builder has more than paid off for us. We are confident that we would not have enjoyed the same success in building had we chosen a high volume builder. Nearly every single time that we visited the building site, Tom was there - either supervising others, or else working hard himself with his personal assistant by his side, or - most often - doing both.
