It was a breath of fresh air to have a NOVA business arrive on time (or even at all), articulate properly and do a fantastic job. The clean-up was perfect and will call them again for chimney repairs. Highly recommend.

It has been a pleasure to work with the Chimney Doctor from start to finish. Their price was better than several other estimates we received from contractors who were also certified by the CSIA (Chimney Safety Institute of America). I have spoken with Elizabeth on the phone numerous times throughout the process of getting the estimate and performing the work and I have been impressed by her organization and professionalism. The work was performed on time and the county inspector told me they did a good job. What more can you ask for?

The price was reasonable. They were very efficient in what they did. They were very knowledgeable and friendly. They were punctual and responsive. They were clean and neat in their work. All around it was very good.

The cleaners from The Chimney Doctor NOVA Inc Company showed on time. They were quick. They billed us correctly. Their price was about average. I would hire them in the future.

Got what I needed, when I needed it, done quickly and at a great price as best I could determine. Just dumb luck to get same day service, but indicative of the company's customer service focus. Researched 8-10 firms on Angie's List, settled on three to call. Cap prices ranged from $140 to 299+, Sweep from $120 to $180. All three very forthcoming with information & availability. Chimney Doctor had the best price & to my good fortune, had a crew in the area and an opening the same day I called. So, from initial contact with Elizabeth at around 0930 to the time Bill & his partner arrived at ~1100 and finished at ~1140, just over two hours. Bill did the inside work, moving furniture out of the way, draping the hearth & carpet with drop cloths. He did a mechanical sweep, removing the damper, as well as some 'extra' mortar droppings from the original construction work. The firebox and hearth were vacuumed clean & fireplace returned to operating condition. This fireplace is used infrequently (1.5 cords in 10 years). Bill's partner (sorry, missed his name) got to go up the outside of the chimney to remove the remnants of the old cap and installed new stainless steel cap, which Chimney Doctor covers with a lifetime warranty.

We had not used our fireplace since we moved into our home, because we had small children. Now that they were old enough, we decided to have the fireplace inspected and cleaned, if necessary. We called The Chimney Doctor from Angie's list. They were professional and explained to us what to expect. They arrived at the exact time they said they would be there. They completed the inspection and said the chimney and fireplace were in good condition, however someone had placed a make-shift cap on the chimney. My husband had also noticed it when he was cleaning the roof off. They replaced the cap and provided us instructions to burn some wood and then call them back for a follow up inspection. All within 45 minutes. A great experience!

A company representative came in October and gave us an estimate; the Chimney Doctor NOVA's estimate was $75-100 higher than other companies, but based on the good reviews, I called them in November to request the repair (new crown) and the Angie's List discount (which they honored -- 5% off). They added us to their queue for masonry work, and the team showed within about 2 days, on Wed., 11/17. When I climbed up on the roof that weekend to check their work, I saw a thick, solid crown, but I was concerned that its slope was nearly flat. I called on Monday (11/22), explaining the slope that I had wanted, and the company sent a three-man team to make the change on or about 11/24, using a jack hammer to put divots in the crown and then adding additional concrete to make a more obvious slope. I appreciated their willingness to humor me and fulfill my request for something out of the ordinary. Great service, including explanations, and they did a good job of cleaning the roof afterward. The invoice noted that "all masonry repairs have a 10-year warranty."

Very punctual, fast, very clean, thorough, identified some work they thought should be done, perhaps in the Spring. That will be a sizeable job (about $1,000), but I trust their evaluation and will have the work done, as a matter of safety, and to prevent damage to the house itself. I'm glad I contacted them, and will definitely use them again.

They were professional and their prices were very reasonable. They were not the lowest and not the highest, but they had the best warranty (10 years) on their service. They showed up on time, did the work they promised. Some other homes in my neighborhood have had the same thing done and you can really see the difference in the color of the brick and mortar on those homes. They took the time to match the brick, and although the mortar isn't an exact match (who can expect that with a 30+ year old home) it is close enough you can hardly notice the difference. Overall I am very happy with the service.

They were able to squeeze in an appointment quickly. They gave a 3 hour window for the appt and came within that window. They were in and out in 30 minutes, almost too fast. They left no mess or residue in the living room where the fireplace is located in contrast to the company that cleaned the chimney several years ago. They did not try to sell any extras as i had had the chimeny relined 5 years ago and it is in good condition. I called a bunch of companies for estimates and a couple of highly rated ones were more expensive and had longer wait lists. Perhaps they do more, but since I didn't need more, this was a fair price and good service.

I called the week before to set up an appointment. My appointment was scheduled for between 10:00 and 1:00 and I requested a phone call 30 minutes prior to the technician's arrival. The technician called me at 9:00 on the day of the appointment and met me a half hour before the scheduled time. The inspection went very well and no cleaning was recommended. The technician recommended that I get a new rack for my fireplace so that I would get more oxygen to my fire.

They were on time and worked as a team. Robert had no problem getting up and checking the crown to see if there were any cracks. I have been getting water dripping out the cleanout in the bottom so they installed a cap for me.

Called and receptionist was very polite and professional. Gave me a discount for Angie's List. Bill arrived and did the work while joking with my kids. Very nice, professional and clean. They recommended I replace the chimney cap with a stainless steel one. Seemed pricey for the cap. In any case, I would have them back for chimney sweeping again.

We just bought a house and they came out to clean and inspect the chimney. We have two fireplaces and they inspected both and told me that one of the chimneys was in great shape, hardly used and didn't need swept. We were missing a cap on one chimney and that was an extra $139 over the $119 for the sweeping. He also gave me some tips -- what I could use to paint the inside of the fireplace if desired, how to use the outside air vent, how much wood we could burn before repeat service, etc. He and his two helpers were very professional and efficient and clean. Would definitely call them back.

With the small amount of rain that we've had since the repairs were performed, there are no apparent problems. However, I was not impressed with the gloppy appearance of the silicone sealant. The service rep came back out and touched up his work, but I am still not happy with the overall appearance of the job. The response I got was, "Well, that's the way we always do it, and it will be fine." It may be effective, but it is far from attractive. Right now I am viewing this as a band-aid fix, and plan to have a more aesthetically pleasing repair performed as soon as the budget allows. I would consider them for future work, but wouldn't automatically choose them.

Overall the representatives were very friendly and did not try to sell any items that were not needed (cleaning, upgrades, etc). He even explained how to go about cleaning the inside of the fireplace. When it came to replacing the chase cover, the order was placed and within a week the new chase cover was installed. Unfortunately the chase cover was damaged, which was missed by the installation crew. Without question, the damaged chase cover was replaced with another new one within a week!

They were on time (a little early even) and were finished in about a half hour. Our chimney could be cleaned from the bottom, so other chimneys may take longer. The workers were very professional and didn't make any mess.

They showed me what needed fixing and why, came when they said, took the amount of time they estimated on the phone, laid down drop clothes, and cleaned up after themselves, even gave me some basic instructions on how to get the fireplace to perform best. I was very happy with them, and will use them in the future.

This was a very positive experience. The first phase included an evaluation of the chimney. We received an estimate and decided to schedule the needed repairs. Repairing the chimney was the second phase. The crew arrived on time and set right to work. They were efficient and professional. They protected the work area and cleaned up so well no one would have known they had been there. The work was completed as described and on schedule.

They are very responsive in terms of setting things up. They coordinate with my tenants and bill me or my tenants will pay them. They don?t say that it has to be done annually when it doesn?t and that?s what I like about them. They gave us a recommendation of cleaning again in the spring of 2011. I have used their services before too. They clean a fourth story walk-up unit and I have had a long term tenant there. So if there anything that?s not right, then he always calls me and has maintained a good relationship. They do a good job and are very meticulous about the work.

The roofing company that repaired my roof alerted us that the Chimney crown was severely cracked and the mortar had separated creating a potential fire hazard. Called Chimney Doctor. This company had cleaned our chimney many years ago when we were actively using our fireplace insert. They performed the inspection and left a very detailed list of problems and method for correction with an estimate. A week later, we had the company reline the chimney with a stainless steel liner (lifetime warranty); replace the bricks and chimney crown and remove the old chimney cap and replace it with a stainless steel cap. They also inspected the fireplace stove insert. Not a speck of soot or dust was left inside the house. They cleaned up everything carefully. Took several hours. They notified me that needed a couple of additional parts to replace outside and would come back the following working day. Told me to pay them when the job was completely done. I am extremely happy! Don't have to worry about the chimney catching fire. Great company, very pleasant folks, and they explain everything they are going to do. Will hire them again, as needed. Cost may appear high; however, had another company price the work at a higher rate.

Team cleaned the firebox and chimney and kept my house (even my light colored carpeting) soot free and clean. They also gave me an estimate on fixing the chimney masonry above my roof line, as I have found chunks of masonry that have been falling off onto my back deck. I have not had this masonry work completed yet, but the thing that impressed me was that the technician went up on the roof to inspect the chimney once and came down with the rather dismal report. When I said that I had hoped to catch him before he went up so I could give him my digital camera to take some pictures, he said, "Oh, I'd like to do that. Give me the camera and I'll go up again." Well, he ended up having to climb up that tall ladder to my roof two more times to get those pictures (wasn't quite used to my camera), but it was extremely helpful so I could see what he was talking about that needs fixing! They also offer a military discount, which is very nice.
