The Chimney Doctor Nova Inc

We scheduled an appointment with the Chimney Doctor to come in for an inspection, and no one showed up on the scheduled date and time. We had problems getting in contact with them to schedule a future appointment that was convenient to us, so we ended up canceling the order and got a refund from Groupon.

We contacted The Chimney Doctor after being told during a roof inspection that our chimney was in bad shape and needed mason work. Ryan and his crew were able to come out on a Saturday morning to give us an estimate. He let us know that in addition to the mason work we knew the chimney needed, it was also unlined and the inside crumbling and not up to current code. This is something our home inspector should have caught a few months prior. We were understandably upset at the cost for the work being higher than anticipated, but Ryan did a great job explaining everything. After getting quotes from three additional chimney companies, we found Chimney Doctor to be slightly cheaper and were able to do the work on a faster schedule (they did it in half a day, while others said it would be a two day project). The crew showed up on time during their scheduled appointment window and immediately went to work. The completed all the work quickly, but professionally. They cleaned up very well afterward, even going into our neighbor's yard to clean up the dust that had blown over there from the masonry work. The chimney looks great and we have the peace of mind knowing that it is lined correctly and that it's safe for our family. Everyone at the Chimney Doctor were pleasant to deal with - from Ryan and his estimating crew, to the scheduler in the office, to the masons who did the work. Would not hesitate to use them again.

I don't know the quality of the work since I haven't used the chimney, but the people who came were neat and professional.

The inspection appointment went well. On time and fairly quick. The only complaint we had is that I called for an appointment during posted business hours the week before the inspection and the person who answered said she was driving and would call me back shortly. I never received a callback. If it had not been for the fact that this company was rated highly on Angie's list, I would not have called back. When I did call back, they made the appointment but did not remember that I had called.

A representative from The Chimney Doctors came to do the estimate in the late afternoon on 3/20, and they were able to come do the work immediately the following day. I know nothing about chimneys and he thoroughly explained the estimate and the repairs required. He even walked me through the estimate another chimney repair provider had given me and explained the similarities and differences. I ultimately went with The Chimney Doctors because their estimate was slightly less and more comprehensive than the other provider. They arrived on time to do the work and didn't leave behind any messes. In fact, they even cleaned my gutters while they were on the roof!

Mr. Dunn was very courteous and professional. He provided photos of the work he accomplished rather than asking me to get up on the roof with him and his help. The system works great -- no issues. I would recommend him and will likely use him again if the need arises.

Team was on time and worked quickly. They were able to match my 35-year old bricks in repairing some of the masonry. They did a very good job in cleaning up and were very careful in not damaging any of my flowers/trees/shrubs.

The service of The Chimney Doctor Nova Inc. was pretty well. They are legitimate. They took cellphone pictures first before they did anything and then they asked my opinion.

I heard a dripping sound in my fireplace on a rainy day and discovered water leaking in the fireplace from above. Called the Chimney Doctor at about 3:00 pm and they had their technician out to investigate at 8:00 am the following morning. He checked the fireplace from inside the house and then got on the roof to inspect the chimney. About ten minutes later he was able to show me the problem and cause. He explained that a gutter clogged with leaves was allowing water to leak into the chimney and it eventually created a hole in the brick and mortar. He had taken a cell phone photo that showed the damage including the hole. He had an estimate written up detailing the corrective actions and cost. I said let's do it and he and a coworker got right at it, taking about 45 minutes to do most of the repair work. The final closing of the hole would need to be scheduled for a separate visit and payment was not due until the job was complete. The lady from the office called me the next day and said they would be back out in the morning to complete the work. The same team arrived at my house right at 8:00 am, completed the job in all of fifteen minutes, collected payment, and were on their way. Everyone I dealt with from the Chimney Doctor was polite, prompt, courteous, and professional from start to finish.

They were excellent. They did a good job. They were on time and completed the worked as expected. I would recommend them.

I really liked that they talked through everything that they did. They were really knowledgeable and pointed out some things that we needed to take care of. They just seem very thorough. I thought their pricing was very reasonable. Probably because it was special so it was just harder to get them to come out, they had a lot of people that responded. They were on time.

The estimate went really smoothly so that was good. I think we contacted him one day and within either the next day or the next two days, he called and he came by. We didn't even have to be home, which was nice and he sent us an estimate. It all happened within a week and it was a really nice and easy process. We like that we didn't have to be home for him to do the estimate, which is nice. I think we communicated a lot via email, which was also nice. He was really quick to respond and had quick turn around as far as coming to look at the chimney and give us the estimate.

Excellent. Technicians arrived early, worked professionally done, cleaned up afterwards, easy credit card payment to main office.

I asked them to come back to my house to check out a problem I thought I had with a foamy substance coming into the chimney from outside. He came out and found that it was wax melting from a candle I had placed on the mantle that melted down into the faux cinders inside the fireplace. They didn’t even charge to come back out, and the whole problem was my own fault. In the end, I would highly recommend the Chimney Doctor Nova, Inc. Very honest, reasonable and good follow-up even a couple years later!!!

The experience was great. The team did an excellent job.

Crew returned to install backboard on time and removed the existing backboard which was 2X as thick as the one they brought. Questioned the integrity of the product prior to installation. Said it was no issue. Backboard installed but was short on each side by 3/4 inch. Tech said the chimney caulk is supposed to fill the voids. Let the fireplace cure for 48 hours before having a fire. Began using the fireplace for small fires which we have always done since the room is small. Within 3 weeks the backboard cracked. Called the shop and was told there is no warranty on the product, and the woman who answered the phone actually asked how "hot" was the fire before it cracked. I doubt she had a structural engineering degree. We found that comment quite comical and at that point they said " well you can take it up with the manager. No return call, poor customer service, inferior products.

They did a great job. I was able to schedule the repairs the same week as the estimate. The price was better than other estimates I received., would certainly use them again.

They came out and gave us a quote on the work which included a discount for a quick decision. We liked them, their knowledge, & friendliness. We had the firebox rebuilt and the chimney swept, which was recommended after they had inspected it. There were 2 visits, first for the chimney sweep. They did it quickly, vacuumed as they went, and cleaned up the work zone when done. Second visit was to rebuild the firebox which included demolition of the existing. The same guy came out to ensure the masonry team & we were on the same page. They spent about 6 hours on the job. The only snag was the damper. It had to be re-connected after the mortar had set. It was not in the plan and took over a week to reschedule the visit to complete it. The time it took was caused by having to match schedule availability.

They were wonderful. They were great. It was a $159 for the caps but then I needed additional work on the chimney and because I liked them so much I had them do it, and that was about $800. I saw one of my chimney caps lying in the driveway, so I picked a couple of places based on the reviews in Angie’s List, and they had good reviews, and I called a couple of them. When I called them, the woman on the phone was so nice and she said they are going to have a crew in this area in the afternoon and they could get to me in the morning before they went there and that was wonderful for me. So they came the same day, they came right when the time window began; they called when they were on their way, and they showed p on time. They went up there and started working on it, the guy knocked on the door, and told me that there was a squirrel's nest in the chimney. He also showed me what was wrong with the cap, and bought the squirrel nest in a big bucket, I believed him but I guess they like to show you anyway. He came in the house and checked the fireplace that we don’t use, but it is useful, so he went in there and he told me the damper was open. I remembered that I had someone else came out about six months earlier, that I didn’t like, and they did not point this out even though they went in there and looked around. So he closed that, looked at the chimney and told me everything was fine in there. They cleaned out the squirrel problem and put in a brand new stainless steel cap, and they did everything they said they were going to do. I liked their timeliness and I liked that they provided information that I could understand and deal with, and based on the other guy that came; I thought their estimate was very reasonable. I asked him if he could look around and see if there is anything else because the other guys had told me that they couldn’t even go up there because my chimneys were in such bad shape, and that it would cost me $6500. The technician from The Chimney Doctor Nova Inc was very good about showing me things, he told me that chimney needed some pointing up, and the top part that sticks out of the roof was crumbling, so that had to be fixed. He wasn’t an alarmist, he told me what was needed to be done and that I don’t need to do it that week but at some point, it would have to be done. He said if I wanted them to do it, they would provide an estimate, and they gave me a written estimate on what they were going to do, on how many layers of brick they were going to put in and all that they were going to fix. So they were very thorough and they were not high pressure. Most importantly, they were able to come the same day I called them, because to me that was an emergency. They were very polite, seemed to know what they were doing, and there was no debris left around, so they cleaned up well.
