Description of Work: Sixpenny completed a thorough chimney cleaning for our recently purchased home. Their two-man team worked efficiently, used sufficient drop clothes, and cleaned up after themselves. When I did not feel comfortable using the ladder to inspect the chimney crown they took pictures with their phone to immediately show the additional work that needed to be done. I will be using them for repair work in the next two weeks. Highly recommend!

Description of Work: Due to water leaks into our fireplace and obvious sections of missing mortar on the outside of our chimney, we sought help to do necessary repairs. When we contacted Sixpenny Chimney and told them we got their name from Angie's list, they were very accommodating in scheduling a free estimate of our chimney repairs. Following a thorough (what we regarded as honest) inspection of our chimney and fireplace, the Sixpenny Chimney representative, who wound up being the primary workman doing our chimney repairs, showed us cell-phone pictures of deteriorated sections of the cement crown on our chimney, showed us other areas on the chimney brick and in our fireplace area that needed repair, and explained to us what work he thought needed to be done. He did not attempt to use any 'alarmist rhetoric' in predicting what might happen if repairs were not done immediately; he simply explained what he saw and what he thought needed to be done. He then gave us what we thought was a reasonable estimate of cost for each item. The representative said that, if we decided to hire them to do the work, they would include a complete chimney cleaning at no additional cost and he also reduced the overall cost of the work by approximately 12% . The work that we contracted to be done included: *re-cementing the crown on top of chimney and fix mortar at various outside sections of chimney * replace chimney screened cover * patch/repair smoke chamber * apply water repellant on chimney * install a new lock-top damper on chimney * chimney cleaning All work was completed in two days by two workers (one being the representative who did the inspection and gave us the estimate). The second work day was needed to allow cement to cure before the finishing work could be completed.The workers arrived at the scheduled times on both days (calling ahead to alert us that they would be arriving soon). They were very attentive to using coverings around the fireplace when working inside the fireplace area. They did all of their work in a very professional manner and worked diligently until everything they were able to do on that day was completed. At the end of each day they were careful in making certain that all debris was cleared away. We were very satisfied with the workmanship and the manner in which the work was done. We would certainly use this company again.

Description of Work: I received a call that the guys would be there in 30-45 minutes. They showed up on time. They were clean, professional and completed the job quickly. I would use them again. I know the price is average for a chimney sweep, but I still think its a little pricey.
