Sixpenny Chimney Sweeps

The inspection and sweep went well and we felt they did a good job and fair assessment of the inside. We did feel though that their quote to replace a piece on the outside part of the chimney was extreme. We wouldn't use them for that but would use them again for the sweep.

Ryan was easy to work with and the work got done quickly and easily.

Excellent job cleaning the chimney was done but the inspection was not so good as it was raining when they came. The team that did the Air Duct Cleaning was much better! They came on time and did an amazing job addressing every vent throughout our home! While I had done an Air Duct Cleaning originally a few years ago it was nothing as good as this. Highly recommend! And the staff in the office were very responsive too.

Scheduling was a snap solely using Angie's List Messenger. Took advantage of $105 coupon, which was best price of all top rated Angie's List providers. Technician was prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable. He even advised we switch to a biennial vice annual schedule since our chimney was not that dirty - now that's a company you can trust!

Cleaning fine. Told me I needed an additional $450 of cleaning. I'm not sure.

Good. They found and cleared a large damp lint ball blocking the vent.

Technician took care of the issue right away, there was quite a backup of wet lint in the vent.

The work was done well but they started one day late and took three days instead of the quoted two.

Well. They had to schedule two visits once they realized how high chimney was, as they needed 2 people to get up there. Polite, responsive, and on time.

Things went OK. Technician was friendly and cleaned vent duct from outside the house. However, after about a month we are still getting a warning from our dryer that there is blockage in the vent duct, probably from the portion of ducting that is inside the house. I'll try to take care of that portion myself with a shop vac and hope it fixes the problem.

They cleaned the chimney and we used the coupon successfully. Afterwards, I shined a flashlight up the chimney and could see and physically pull additional ash from the sides with a cloth in my hand. It was mostly clean, but a little attention to detail could have cleaned the lower end better. Also, they told us we have a safety issue with a crack in the floor. They took the fireplace apart on the spot, but didn't have the parts to fix it. The chimney sat unused for 3-4 weeks in winter as we waited for them to get the part. After that time and repeated calls with no scheduled install date in sight, we cancelled the repair and had them come back and put the fireplace back together.

He proceeded to tell me he wanted half the money up front for the chemicals (but didn't have any with him) and they had to order it. Why in the world would anyone pay for a service they haven't received yet?? That's my first issue. The second is that they didn't know what they were doing. As it turns out I have deteriorated crowns and tile seals on both flues among other major things which makes it unsafe to use. My feeling was that they just wanted to make a quick buck. Shame on you.

Six penny did an excellent job. If I had a complaint the only thing would be that when I booked the work they were not clear that all three jobs would be done by three different sets of workers. I thought I'd be waiting for workers during the 4 hour window they gave me and indeed the first worker showed up. But in total I was waiting for many many extra hours. But hey, misunderstandings happen and when I contacted Six Penny to disc as it they resolved the issue and compensated me for my time with my bill. I would absolutely use them again. The work was thorough, in line with the estimates they gave me, and they cleaned up all materials before they left.

Contractors showed up on time as expected. Polite and professional. Did a good job. Would hire them again.

Great! Hands down these guys got the job done! My dryer vent was clogged badly but they ensured everything was working properly before they left!
