Sixpenny Chimney Sweeps

We found our drains clogged during heavy tropical rains and had to call for an emergency cleaning on Thursday, May 17. The company said they would call back on Friday, May 18, and come out if the weather allowed. During a break in the rains on Friday afternoon, David arrived and quickly cleared several large clumps of maple spinners and other debris from our front gutters. He also checked the back gutters, which were clear. He was friendly and professional, and we're quite happy with the company's quick response and excellent service.

David showed up right on time. He explained all the work he would perform. He did an excellent job with dryer vent cleaning. Did not try to take any shortcuts. Gutter cleaning was done to my satisfaction. Would definitely hire them again.

Professional, friendly. They cleaned the chimney, but also pointed out that some hidden damage had been done to to the top of the chimney from a storm and the chimney was unusable.

Excellent. I had an appointment scheduled on a Saturday after only calling one day prior. The technician was truly friendly and knowledgeable (I learned quite a bit about chimneys and dryer vents and some of the issues that can arise) and talked with me quite a bit as he worked. Our dryer vent was quite restricted and he recommended - but did not push - a thermal wrap to minimize condensation inside the pipe. After the chimney sweep, the tech. gave me some recommendations for issues to keep an eye on and took pictures of the exterior of the chimney. I have to admit I am truly impressed and we will be calling Sixpenny for all of our future chimney and dryer needs.

They were punctual and did the work efficiently. They worked with me on the spot when I realized that I had only bought one coupon when I actually needed two chimneys to be cleaned. They were not as careful as they should have been with protecting the floor while they worked, however, and I ended up with soot on both my upstairs and downstairs carpet.

David did a good job of removing a birds' nest and debris from the vent hose, but in the process, a plywood board in front of the exterior vent area got ripped up and will need to be replaced ($ ?). He was not able to finish the job of getting air flow through the hose, due to there being several bends/joints that he couldn't reach. He said that the hose might be loose at the joints, causing air flow loss, and he could not access the joints without breaking drywall in the ceiling, or there could be other blockages that he wasn't able to see since other sections of the hose were around the bend inside the ceiling. He did not have a scope to look through the hose to get a better picture of the problem, because he said those scopes are too expensive. He gave me a quote to break the drywall to join the hose at the joints. That would cost me an additional $310 (his quote), in addition to the $129 that I already paid. That would not include repairing / replacing broken drywall, repainting the ceiling and who knows what else the job might entail. I was not expecting to pay additional costs such as these at this time, so the job remains unfinished.

They were able to schedule the appointment quickly and arrived within the schedule window. Very professional and cleaned up afterward.

It went well, punctual, clean and completed the job and provided recommendations and let me know I could call them back to do the minor repair later in the year.

He was fast. I am not sure how thorough it needed to be, but maybe my chimney was that clean? It was required by my condo board to get the inspection, and I had to remind him to mark the "satisfactory" column on the inspection form to send to condo association (he left it blank, and that was the part I needed to show my condo association). In the end, I got what I needed, but I might try a different vendor next time, just to see what's out there.

Great. no animal, gave tips on ways to deal ourselves w/ an animal in chimney.

They did a very thorough cleaning of the chimney and the fireplace insert. Would have them come back without hesitation.

Once again these guys were great. This was out second time we've used them and they were a pleasure to work with. Job well done. Quick, courteous, and professional.

The people who came out were very friendly. I needed my gutters and downspout cleaned because something was clogging the downspout. I told them about the issue and rain falling over the gutters. They quickly cleaned the gutter without doing anything about the downspout and were about to leave. Good thing I was there to watch because I had to ask them to clear the downspout and pour water down the gutter to make sure things were actually clear, otherwise they would have just left. Pouring the water is essential to help find different areas in the downspout that were clogged. If you cannot be there, you should reschedule your cleaning.
