Sixpenny Chimney Sweeps

I had a very bad experience with another chimney sweep company. When I was calling around, I explained that to Sixpenny. I had an excellent experience with them. They were very professional. They went up on the roof and evaluated the chimney cap but we didn’t end up using them for that. The price was very fair.

The work was excellent, and they cleaned up after themselves. The only problem is that they tried to sell me a very expensive repair job that I believe was unnecessary and more of an upsell type of maneuver.

They were really great. They just did a very nice job. They worked very quickly and professionally but very carefully. They didn't leave any soot lying around. We never had a wood stove before so they spent a little bit of time talking to us about how to maximize the heat from every log and showed us all the switches that we weren't using because we didn't know. They were really nice and they did a really thorough job. Surprisingly enough the price wasn't much. I thought they were really very nice. Their price was excellent and I felt it was really cheap for all that work. They were right on time. We do plan to use them again in the future because we are supposed to have this work done once a year.

It went well. Sixpenny was professional, showed up on time and did a nice job. I felt that they were honest and the problems they identified with the chimney seemed reasonable. They cleaned up after themselves.

I have used 6-Penny before and found them to be professional and courteous. They put down a drop cloth and clean up after themselves. They will make suggestions for any work they think should also be done on the roof or chimney, but they won't push you to hire them.

Arrived late but overall did a decent job. Left some equipment behind and had to come back for it.

My chimney chase was rusted and the caulk around it has deteriorated exposing the woods underneath, this lead to rain water getting inside in between the wood and the siding. So I decided to have six penny replaced the chimney chase with one made of stainless steel(no more rust), they ordered one that is higher in height so it would cover all the exposed wood, protecting it from the elements.

When i called SIXPENNY for a quote, I was quoted to have my duct cleaned for $399 with dryer vent cleaning included. I set a time and a date, but called back to say that this was too expensive. the lady dropped the price to $270. I refused to give them my business because i felt that they wanted to stick it to me in the first place. I will not recommend this company and I will never do business with them.

They answered all my questions and were punctual and courteous. Supplied before and after video of crown/cap repair. Nice company to deal with.

The fireplaces now operate in an outstanding fashion. They did a great job!

I was very pleased with this company. They did what they said they were going to do and did it for the price they quoted. They even came on a Saturday to do the work. They inspected the chimney and recommended repairs but did not pressure me. They seemed very knowledgeable and explained what they were doing to me.

I did some online research and found that the value of duct cleaning for improving air quality is somewhat open to debate. However, given the age of the house and the condition when we bought it last year, it seemed like a wise investment to get the ducts cleaned. There are companies that do a more thorough job based on the description of their services, but they also accordingly charge more. This seemed like a reasonable balance between cost and detail. My wife, who is particularly sensitive to dust, did claim to notice an improvement in the air quality afterwards, and we are glad to spent the money. We were fully pleased with Sixpenny. They also inspected and cleaned our 4 fireplaces, and we were similarly happy with that service.

The cleaning was done with little debris falling in to the rooms (which is something I worried about). Perhaps more important to us, given the cost, the damper caps work! The difference in temperature control and elimination of a draft in winter was noticeable in all three rooms, but especially the family room in the lower level of the house, which had been very drafty, even with the old damper and glass doors closed. We had one minor problem with the pull chain on one of the dampers. When I contacted Sixpenny, they quickly sent a representative to resolve the problem. We were pleased with their customer service after the checks had cashed.

Everything went smooth and easy. I scheduled an appointment for the following week, the technician showed up on time and was very professional. Only took him an hour to clean everything.

Hired this outfit to clean my chimney, which they did, however in the process they proceeded to try and convince me I needed very expensive repairs done to my chimney crown that were unnecessary. They did manage to convince me I needed my ducts cleaned, but am still uncertain as to whether that service was really worth what I paid for it. Had to hire another service to go out on the roof to validate the chimney repairs Sixpenny said were warranted. The second, more honest company, stated everything was fine up there, and they didn't try to sell me anything extra, either. I know times are tough, but that's ridiculous. Won't be using Sixpenny again.

It went well. My house was not the dirtiest they've seen, but it was pretty bad. The fireplace and chimney, thankfully, were in working order. They were on time and called ahead to let me know of their arrival.

Great. Phone representative was friendly and helpful. Asked how I heard about them and when I said Angie's list offered the dryer vent cleaning at no charge. The two guys showed up on time and were friendly, professional and courteous. Answered all my wife's questions and showed her the results etc. Makes a big difference. I had looked in the air return ducts and know how much was in there and now they are clean as a whistle.

EXCELLENT Chimney was swept and the details of the inspection were reviewed. We had inspections by different companies and given 3 estimates. After reviewing all information we chose Six-Penny. The entire process went really well. They answer their phone and return your call with in 24 hours. We had several questions that we wanted answered prior to making a decision and they were very patient and answered all questions. The company showed up on time and were very thorough in preparation and clean up. We have burned almost 3 cords of wood this season and have not had nay problems. Would definitely use again and recommend highly.

using angies's list i selected several chimney sweeps to get estimates to clean out and checkout the chimney in our new house. sixpenny gave a timely estimate that was the best price. the guy come out at the scheduled time and did a good job of cleaning and inspecting. they told us we needed about $1,800 of work to get the fireplace to be usable. we put this off as this was the summer and we had other priorities. after christmas we wanted to get the work done so we could have a few fires this winter. we called sixpenny back and they honored the now 4 month old estimate. they also checked out our oil heat furnace and determined that that also needed work done. using video inspection techniques sixpenny was able to easily show the problems and clearly explained their approach to solving them. they came by the next day to do the work. their folks were very professional and fielded questions by my 4 yr old son very courteously. they really did a nice job on the work and cleaned up after themselves. we had a fire that weekend and it was awesome. i wouldn't hesitate to call them again or recommend them to anyone.

They did the inspection and recommended us to install the cap on the chimney. They had only one kind of chimney available. They let my husband wait down. They updated my husband on the status of the chimney and told him what needed to be done. They were pretty clean. They cleaned up pretty well. They did a good job. So far there isn’t anything wrong with it. The other company wasn’t able to come out till the end of the month but Sixpenny did. Their price was reasonable.

Everything went perfect as explained by the very nice person who accepted my phone call.

They were efficient. The work met my expectations.

They showed up about 30 minutes early, which was fine for me. There were two separate teams: one for the air ducts and one for the chimney. They have a truck system rather than a portable vacuum system for the air duct cleaning. There was zero mess left behind by any of the three services performed. They were respectful of my things and very professional.

They are an okay company. They left a little mess when they cleaned up after the work. There is nothing that really stands out about the company. I might use them again in the future.

He showed up on time and did everything that he was supposed to do. He went above and beyond of what he had to do and he only charged me for what he had to replace. His pricing was reasonable and I got more than I expected. The quality of his work was good and I was satisfied with his service.
