The company was scheduled to do an inspection of the chimney to provide an estimate of service. I bought their deal for an inspection plus chimney cap, per their suggestion, as they said they charge for estimates and that would be the best deal. I told them I had received other quotes and they said their prices were very competitive. They showed up, walked down to the basement to look at the furnace and water heater connections which vent out of a flue in the fireplace, and then wrote up a quote for a whole slew of work that they never even inspected. Their quote was $4000 MORE than the approximately $2000 I was quoted by a company who actually went up on the roof, went into the chimney, took photos, etc. They quoted me over $6000 for work that they didnt even inspect. I called angies list to get a refund on the deal, and the company is pushing back, saying they performed work. If a 10 minute visit (5 minute inspection in the basement and 5 minute write up of the quote) costs $160, beware.

They were very quick, withing 30 min, and did the job well, no problems. The price seemed a little high for some mortar repair.

Prompt service, and kept me well informed. Thought the price was a little high but they were very professional, courteous, and knowledgeable about what needed to be done.

Steven was on time and awesome to work with. He was very professional and got to work right away. He was polite, tidy, and quick with the service. Beyond everything else he was able to answer a couple questions about the fireplace insert that was in the fireplace prior to our purchase of the house including safe operation and procedures. We highly recommend this company and in particular Steven. If the rest of the staff if this good you can't go wrong.

price was competitive with other vendors. they cleaned out all my ducts. Usually the company will give you info on how dirty the vents were, I got no feedback. Their manager was on site at the beginning, but he left, and the workers did not clean up after finishing. I had to go around to all my wall vents and clean up the debris that had fallen out of the vents onto the floor. The B rating is because I had to do additional work/clean up after they left. It would have been great if they had cleaned up the mess themselves.

The crew was very punctual. Jason took a look at the dryer vent and I expressed my concerns with getting the job done as the dryer vent line is not a straight line to the outside, but has two corners. Jason asked if they could bring the truck outside of the unit so they could perform the job from the outside but unfortunately, given the layout of the building, that was not an option. Jason suggested that the work could be done by using a portable air-compressor. Since he did not have the equipment readily available that day, I called the scheduling department (very efficient and friendly) and rescheduled for the following week. Again the crew showed up right on time, with the portable equipment and was able to complete the job without any issue. I am very satisfied with the service received.

Scheduled an appointment for an estimate to have a new flue, damper, cap, and other work done. The individual who took my call was polite and offered a Saturday appointment within a week. Yet on Saturday the technician was a no show. I later contacted the company through its Web site about what happened but received no reply.

It was great. They were very thorough. They were very clean! They wore shoe covers to prevent tracking dirt in the house; their drop clothes used to protect rugs were clean. I am very happy with everything about the service and will definitely use them again.

When I arrived home the day of the service I had not heard from them but did have an invpoice that said the work was done. Since they were to contact me before the began the work and hadn't done so I contacted them. They told me that the technician had came by, determined the gutters were clean and did not require service, and had departed. The company did not charge me for the service call since we are located in the same town. Sixpenny Chimney Sweeps are a solid company with great integrity. I will definitely use them for service in the future. Thanks!!!!

After I used the fireplace-inspection special offer, I asked them to do chimney repair work. They were efficient, they came on time, and the price was right.

This was a big deal purchase. It was alright. They came out about 6 weeks after I bought the deal.

Communication was timely, yet they try to up sell you and ask you to purchase additional 'deals' before they will visit to give estimate .... poor professionalism!

Didn't get air ducts cleaned by this company as they were already clean.

They were great. We had two chimneys for them to inspect and clean. We paid for one with the AL deal and were going to get a military discount on the second chimney. When the technicians came out to clean, they inspected the gas burning chimney and told us that it did not need a cleaning at this time. What refreshing honesty! They saved us an extra $142! When we moved in, our inspector noted our chimneys had cracks and needed repair. They found the cracks, provided a reasonable estimate, and we are having them come out this weekend (on a Sunday!) to repair them. Overall, while they are not the lowest cost company, they are highly ethical and easy to work with (both their admin staff and service techs).

They were fantastic communicators (Contractors are usually terrible). They were all great to work with and did a thorough job. They always called ahead to say when they were coming or were delayed.

Workmanship was not at a professional level.

Scheduling was quick and professional. The technician arrived late beyond the 4-hour window. Being late for work, I explained the work needed (repair/replace sections of brick steps) and asked the technician to leave the estimate in my mailbox. Upon review, the estimate was around 2.5 times higher than a previous estimate I received for the same job. Given I had already purchased a block of 8 hours, the quote implied it would take over 24 hours (at purchased rate) to complete 3-4 brick steps. Even if they were completely replaced, that is an awful long time to repair or replace 3-4 brick steps. To be fair, they also mentioned they would touch-up some spots along the brick walkway. Also to be fair, they mentioned "materials," but did not specify what materials. Last I checked, brick is fairly cheap, so again, could not comprehend how or why the cost was high. Regardless, there was no justification for the cost and implied labor hours, so I submitted for a refund. Angie's List was prompt in issuing the refund and so, no harm, no foul. Best case scenario: Sixpenny Chimney Sweeps does superior quality work and charges on the very-high side of the spectrum. I can only give them the benefit of the doubt and share my experience.

Disappointing as the Angie's List representative was on the phone w/them when I ordered. She clearly explained I had a wood stove insert in the fireplace. We got a price, and I purchased. When I went to schedule the service they said there would be an additional cost which I declined. In fairness, I did get a full refund. However, I lost time which is valuable to me. Wouldn't use a service who says one thing one day, then another thing the next. Why bother when there are other services that will stick by what they say!

It was a basic cleaning it went well

The technician was polite and efficient, very professional. I would definitely use them again as well as recommend them to neighbors. The only caveat is that they were supposed to call to let us know when, within the 8 am to 12 noon timeframe, they would be arriving, which they did not (arrived at approximately 8:30). Not a problem as we were ready for them from 8 am on.
