ROTH'S HANDYMAN SERVICE

As usual, Lawrence was on time, professional, did great work, and cleaned up everything before he left. This was a pretty typical visit for Lawrence, as we call him when we get several small jobs that need doing so he can do a lot on one visit. Trust me, Lawrence does fantastic work and his prices are always fair. We have used him for more than 15 years and we trust his judgment on everything (except for his jokes, which are just lame). But Lawrence has done lots of jobs for us over the years, from the typical things such as installing ceiling fans and deadbolt locks, tiling a backsplash in our kitchen, doing recessed lighting in our kitchen, etc. But he has done some really big jobs for us too, such as installing a new oak staircase in our entry hall, building built-in bookshelves in our basement, and building a 6' by 8' wine cellar in our basement with full insulation and cooling unit. Lawrence can do it all. He is the best handyman in Prince William Co.

Professional, punctual and details-oriented. Explained exactly what he would do. Gave suggestions to keep costs down and instructions on how to prevent further damage to sheetrock repair finishes. Good communication all the way through the job. Repairs to sheetrock (damaged during settling and recent earthquake) look like new. Kept area clean, and upon finishing work revacummed areas where he worked. I am going to hire him again for some electrical work I need done. I am very pleased with his work .

The other reviews pretty well sum it all up. Mr. Roth is prompt, efficient, personable, honest and open. He also is very skilled after several decades of experience and clearly takes pride in his work. If you're looking for a top notch job without any risk of BS, he's your man! You will probably have to leave a message each time you call during "working hours," but can count on him returning the call by that evening.

He was punctual and followed up on the phone whenever we called him with a question. He explained the pros/cons of whether to repair or replace something on our to do list. We would use him again for repairs around the house.

He kept every appointment, quoted out several jobs for us and the price was firm whether we did one, two or all three jobs. He only asked for payments as he went along with the jobs. He was prompt and cleaned up after every day. He gave professional recommendations that were well received. He took great pride in his work.ra

We first contacted Mr. Roth via email with a list of items we needed to have done. He told us what he was able to do and for what he was not, he recommended us to another company that could. When giving us an estimate he described in an honest, professional, and knowledgeable manner the level of complexity, circumstances for which parts may be needed, and line-itemed each of the costs. He was very clear and upfront, verified the services we needed, and verified the services that he would be providing such there would be no confusion on the scheduled day of work. Mr. Roth arrived on time and fantastically prepared. Prior to beginning the work, he again went over the work to be provided and the prices previously discussed. As the work started, he protected our floors by placing all of his tools on a padded blanket. Although we currently had a waterline for the old refrigerator the connection was not good for the new one. He described to me the issue with the current line, options for fixing it, price for parts (exactly his cost and not marked up) and verified a second time that we were in agreement with moving forward. Water line was installed to his professional high standards and to my complete satisfaction. The refrigerator was also about 1/4-in too tall preventing it from fitting under the cabinets. The solution was either to move the cabinets up or cut a piece out of the bottom. I chose to cut a piece out. He thoroughly explained what was going to happen when he did the cut and verified again that this was what I wanted to do. It turned out perfect. Installing the dishwasher involved drilling two holes into the bottom of the granite counter top. As before, he described what should be done but offered an alternative if I was uncomfortable drilling the holes. He was honest about the risks and left the decision entirely up to me. He was prepared with brand new drill bits and had done it before with success. Thankfully it all went smoothly but even had it not, he had been honest and I had made the decision. The brand new electric range had a little wire that was loose near the convection fan. He showed it to me, told me what could happen if it was left loose and advised me how he would fix it. Done. Finally was the over-the-range microwave. The cabinets were quite low which would have allowed little clearance between the bottom of the microwave and the range top. The options were to raise the cabinets, take them out or cut into them. I decided to have them raised. He measured everything for me and let me choose exactly how high I wanted the microwave to be. I drew a little line on the wall to mark my decision. I think we reviewed the decision three times before actually doing going through with it! He wanted to be sure I was sure first! He also found some faulty wiring when removing the old range hood and corrected that to code. Again, everything turned out perfect! Before he left he told me to check the basement for possible leaks over the next few days and if we had any problems to give him a call. No leaks. In closing, he did an absolutely exceptional job! We would never call anyone else for any other services that he provides. He was honest, professional, knowledgeable, cleanly, etc. The price was reasonable and for how well he did everything, he could have charged more and we still would have been happy.

Mr. Roth was prompt to return my phone message. He arrived on time and worked quickly and efficiently. Also, he put a cloth down on top of the carpet before he set his toolbox on it which I appreciated. Mr. Roth took the cardboard packaging out of the house and honored the Angie's List coupon. Will use again.

Roths came a little late, but got right to work, and did all the work within a few hours. He was very nice and easy to work with. We were happy with the work and would call him again.

Like most homeowners, I had many small items on my "to do" list as I kept putting things off. When I emailed Mr. Roth, I was afraid that my list might be too long to be accomplished in a timely way as I was leaving town and wanted the list completed by a certain date. Mr. Roth replied promptly to an email I sent him and told me that he could perform the services in the limited time I had and we set up a time for a free estimate.I found the estimate very reasonable for my list: dry wall repair, rehang a door, add shelves to the back of my pantry door, fix the closer on my screen door, recaulk the master bath, fix a leaking toilet.Mr. Roth was able to fit me in in an afternoon. He was so efficient worker that he accomplished all in a short time frame. And he provided little extras - for example, when he fixed the closer on the front door he tightened up all the hinges along the way. Though I had already removed the old caulk in the master bath, he also removed more (I hadn't done the job I thought I had) before recaulking.He was neat and cleaned up as he went along.I also have a pet and he was quite comfortable around her and I didn't need to crate her while he worked.Finally, he gave me some good tips and advice about follow-up - like the best way to sand and repaint where he did the dry wall repair.I would DEFINITELY use Mr. Roth again.

After contacting Mr. Roth to describe service I required; I received a most timely response and free estimates. The estimates covered the "what if's" and I felt they were very reasonable. Even though we corresponded via phone and online, never really meeting, I was confident in his professionalism. He had to return to do the job due to an unexpected requirement for completion of the job. I did not hesitate to agree to his taking my recently purchased mailbox unit away with him to return the next day. He allowed for my personal preferences and feedback on his recommendations, keeping me in the loop from beginning to end. I was very pleased with the results and would not hesitate to use his services again.

Great Job! Finished off my bathroom do to water damage from a burst pipe behind the wall and cause a great deal of damage, and had to replace subfloor, toilet, drywall behind the tub, vanity, electric, tub, tile, light etc. I was very please with Larry Roth service, and have use Roth handyman services even after the bathroom was completed. Highly recommend Roths Handyman service, even mirror items, such as installing kitchen light, new outlet, kitchen tile backsplash, replaced 4 outlets in bedroom. Will have him back to handle additional remodels planned for 2012-2013.

I was changing out the hollow core slab doors with six panel doors (some solid). I ran into trouble with one frame that was not exactly square and my square door had a small gap on the top. A closet door was being changed from bifold to a regular door (needing hinge and hardward cut in as well as stop molding). We had a new door and frame for the basement we were finishing and needed it installed. We also had the unsightly circuit breaker boxes in the wall with no covering. Mr Roth was able to get by for an estimate in a timely manner. He was very professional and courteous in the work. He worked with us to design what we needed. The results far exceeded expectations. He knew how to work around an imperfect house and make the doors fit. The handmade cabinet doors fit perfectly and really look good. We've had other people over to help with some of the woodwork we needed doing (cover water cut off, etc.) and the results drove us to consider Angie's List for recommendations in the future. This was my first attempt to use Angie's List. I am impressed and Angie's List is the first place I'm going to look from now on. And for my handyman needs, I'm going to Roths Handyman Service!!! This is the level of service we were looking for - in fact, exceeded our expectations.

What a great job! Mr. Roth was punctual for the estimate and work, as well as working with us to get the work done due to weather conditions. He provided us options on the repair to keep the cost down but maintain the quality of the work. We would certainly recommend him and use him again.

Mr. Roth came to do an estimate of everything that needed to be done. In this he explained other options or alternatives to save money. He worked from the minute he entered the house and didn't give up when he encountered a problem. I am quite pleased with the work and I would certainly recommend him.

Great, the best Handy-man I have ever worked with. He also gave good advice on additional repairs and showed me how to do some myself.

We called Lawrence to work on our home following a flood. We are pleased not only by the excellence of the work but with Lawrence as an individual. He worked diligently - paying attention to detail. Lawrence provided excellent suggestions and advice throughout the process. The cost was excellent for the quality of the work performed. Our project was a challenge; the water cleanup crew cut out un-even sections of dry wall and Lawrence was able to restore the walls beautifully. We were delighted when he was finished. He also replaced the toe kicks, base board and shoe molding. He expertly installed crown molding, chair rail and a new cable outlet. This is the second time we worked with Mr. Roth and each time we couldn't be happier with the outcome - we highly recommend Lawrence!

We have always been pleased with his work and have recommended him to neighbors and friends. I have always felt I get a fair deal with him and the quality of his work is excellent and efficient. He is pleasant and well infomred, and will tell you if you need to go to someone else if he cannot perform the needed work. And he cleans up after himself.

They were absolutely reliable. They cleaned up after themselves. It was a good price and quality work. We had a problem and they had it fixed right away. As far as what they could have done better or could have improved on, I don't have anything to add there.

I have had Mr. Roth over to perform several jobs for me. Most recently, I asked him to install some glass tile on the backsplash in my kitchen. Prior to agreeing to do the job Mr. Roth carefully explained what materials I would be responsible for (selecting the tile&grout) and what he would bring. He arrived on time for job and was always respectful of my home and welcomed my questions and opinions throughout the installation. Since I had several errands to run that day I left periodically and always came back to clean home and saw that he had been working diligently during my absence. He completed the job on time and according to the estimate. I have already discussed additional jobs I would like his help with in the future.

The service went very well. I called Lawrence on Monday and he returned my call that evening. I explained to him the work I was looking to have done. We scheduled an appointment for two days later and he gave me an estimate of the cost of his services. That Wednesday morning I called and told him I needed to reschedule and he was very flexible in rescheduling for the following day. When he arrived he was very professional and paid close attention to detail with his work. We would definitely hire Lawrence again in the future.

We previously hired Lawrence to do a few minor electrical and plumbing jobs at our townhouse. He always did excellent work, so it was a no brainer to call him when we moved into a new house where we had a variety of work to be done. First, we had Lawrence over to walk through the house so he could give us estimates for each project we wanted. Since then, Lawrence has been over twice as we begin to check things off the list. Lawrence is always very responsive, fair in his pricing, prompt in scheduling the work, and very flexible in working within our schedules. I highly recommend Lawrence for all your handyman needs!

After I called and left the initial message, we played a bit of phone tag but he was at my door within the week. Roth evaluated the situation, told me in detail how he was going to test for it and was pleasant despite the barrage of home repair questions that I threw at him. He was honest, efficient and knowledgeable. When he had completed the work, he told me that he had not scheduled the day too tightly and went around the house with me as I pointed out my worries. He gave me to the penny estimates on several repairs and advised me on how to remedy other things. He has a minimum service charge for coming out, which he charged me and for the attention to detail he gave, as well as for the DIY advice and the estimates and new homeowner advice - I have to say that I got MORE than my money's worth by far. He never made me feel pressured to hire him or that he was feeding me any lines about repairwork needed. He was charming, quick-witted and up front. I look forward to hiring him for more projects!

Called Roth's to arrange for an estimate for a couple of lighting fixtures that weren't working. I'm fairly handy, but not comfortable with electrical repair. He returned my call within a day or two & asked a few questions to get a better idea of what I was looking at. He assured me he could take care of the problems, but advised me to try a few things first. He carefully stepped me through some troubleshooting and possible repair steps & wished me luck, telling me to call back if I still needed his help. With his advice, I was able to do the repairs myself. I appreciate his honesty & willingness to help out a novice. I'll hire him for the next project.

Mr. Roth arrived on time for both the estimate and installation. He followed up on the estimate to make sure I understood what each line item was for, but wasn't pushy. I was thinking my drywall was in need of some repairs, but Mr. Roth pointed out that a good painter would be sufficient to repair the drywall (which was confirmed by my painter) which actually would have cost him money, since I would selected him for the repairs. He suggested the crown moulding be installed first, and offered some suggestions on the different types of crown moulding. When I set the install date, Mr. Roth arrived on time with all of the materials needed to complete the job. He was very respectful of my home and was very neat, I didn't need to follow up after him with a vacuum. He explained everything to me and didn't mind when I would pop in to check up on him. He met his estimate, and didn't try to tack on anything at the end. The crown moulding looks great, and I can't wait to see what the kitchen backsplash!
