As I said above, I used Moses Mercado of Regency Remodeling for a previous major bathroom remodel, so he's the one I called to update a master bedroom and a den upstairs in my townhouse. The project was on a much smaller scale and included: removing wallpaper from 3 walls of the MBR; painting the MBR; adding a light kit to the ceiling fan in the MBR; and installing heavy duty drapery rods. For the den, he widened a closet door to make the closet more functional; installed spot lighting; installed a ceiling fan; installed wainscoting; and painted the room and ceiling. The things that went wrong: 1. the dirt and scuff marks on my hardwood floors that the workers left 2. the flimsy plastic sheeting that was used that did not protect my belongings from the dust that was created during the work 3. the fact that there are still, 6 weeks after the project ended, little finishing things, like the face plate for the new light switch that was installed, is still missing 4.the fact that the project, which should have taken two weeks tops ended up stretching over a month because there were days when the workers didn't show up--no calls from Moses; they just simply didn't show up 5. the fact that Moses came by for the 3rd and final payment, even though the remaining 3rd of the job was still not done 6. the fact that I had to call and call and call and text Moses to get any response from him 7. the fact that I had to call him, after 3 days of no workers showing up, to tell him I needed the dirt and scuff marks cleaned up, including the water marks that were left when one of the workers washed a paint brush in the bathroom sink(!) Between the 1st project that Moses did for me in 2010 and this smaller project, something evidently happened to Moses' work ethic. From staying with the project until completion (2010), this year's project was like pulling teeth to get finished. I don't know what happened, but I'm unhappy with how this year's project was handled and the whole ordeal has left a bad taste in my mouth. As personable as Moses is, he makes promises that he and his crew can't deliver. I don't trust him enough to ever use him again.
Description of Work: I wanted to update my townhouse in preparation for selling it. I had used Moses Mercado of Regency Remodeling 2 and 1/2 years ago when I wanted to completely gut and remodel my bathroom and a friend, who had worked with Moses in the past, recommended him for the job. He was responsive to my requirements and made cost-saving recommendations. He started the work when he said he would and finished within a month. There was only one day when I couldn't use the bathroom, something amazing since Moses gutted the room down to the studs. Since my townhouse is in an older structure, there's not much that can be done to enlarge rooms. Instead, Moses came up with the idea to build in cubbyholes in spaces between the studs. I use those cubbies in the tub area to hold shampoos, soap, etc .--very convenient. The tilework he did is beautiful, and his attention to detail is that of a master craftsman. The bathroom is beautiful and I was very pleased with Moses overall. So when I wanted to update the master bedroom and den, he was the first--and only--contractor I called.
