I called earlier in the week to schedule an appointment to get my lawn aerated. It was very important for the aeration to be done before the weekend so I would have time to put down new soil and reseed. However, by 5:30 pm on Friday, I still had not seen or heard from them. After my wife called them, they said there were still 9 others ahead of us and they would try to make it that day--if not, they would be there first thing Monday morning. It would have been nice to know they were that "busy" before Friday evening so I could make different arrangements in order to get the job done so I could move ahead with my other plans. When I called back and talked to Kent (the owner, I assume), I asked point-blank if they were going to make it that day. Rather than address the problem, make some amends, or even in some small way try to rectify the problem, he was more concerned about my "tone". Knowing that I was not going to get anything resembling customer service, I cancelled the appointment and ended the call. If this is the highest level of professionalism they can muster over the phone, then I don't want them anywhere near my lawn. Update: Last night (9/29) the guy came to my house to confront me as to why I was unhappy with his business. The sad part is, only after he had talked to my neighbors and found out he had lost business from them based on my recommendations did he want to discuss the matter. He could have come by the day of the cancelled appointment to discuss, or he could have come by that day if the other appointments were done and try to fit us in. He also said they work on Saturdays (that?s not what they told my wife when she talked to them the day of the appointment, see previous paragraph). If that's the case, why didn't he reschedule for Saturday? Or call to rectify the situation the day after the cancelled appointment? Instead, only after 5 days and losing business from my neighbors did he become concerned about the reason for my dissatisfaction. Perhaps the next time he receives a phone call from someone who is dissatisfied, he will be more focused on determining/fixing the problem and less on the person's "tone". Rather than change my mind, this little visit did nothing but reinforce my original recommendation. Now, not only do I not want to do business with him, I want no further contact from him, period.
