Some products and household items are great quality and well worth the price. I purchased some bedding, duvet and all weather comforter. For the price you can't beat these items. I didn't specifically need any help at this visit but employees have been helpful in the past.
Description of Work: I love this Ikea store. It is well organized and the prices are terrific. Some of the products are not great quality, so you really need to check how furniture for example is constructed to be sure it is worth the price.

The countertop install was contracted by Ikea to a contractor that was not responsive. When the issue was addressed with the provider, they attempted to rectify the problem. Overall, the quality and price of ikea offer great value. Their responsiveness is difficult, due to every call seeming having to go through a 888 number. The best way to get issues resolved with Ikea appeared to be driving out to the store and speaking to somebody; not an ideal situation to be in. All deliveries experienced with Ikea went really well and were fairly punctual.
Description of Work: We purchased cabinets and countertop from the provider. The provider then contracted some kitchen services, such as countertop installation.

The experience with them was good. We had bought other things from them in the past. Their customer service was very responsive, and if something was broken, they would replace it without any hassles. We had a dishwasher that was not working and they replaced it with no questions asked. They were there to answer questions.
Description of Work: We used IKEA. We bought a new kitchen from them. We bought new kitchen appliances, countertops and cabinets.

IKEA offers a "you can do it all yourself, but you don't have to" option on kitchen remodels. We were interested in that package. The design center staff at the IKEA Woodbridge location were quite helpful (specifically Natasha) and professional. We drew up a plan for a simple 7x10 kitchen built in the 50's with almost no updates since then. After meeting with Natasha and designing 2 plan options (one L-shaped, one almost exactly like the current set-up), I was pretty confident that we would use IKEA for everything. However, as I began the process of scheduling the measure and other components (flooring, painting, electrical, dishwasher connections, etc.), our information was lost or updates were missing. We had to go through the entire process from the beginning with each supplier we spoke to. No one showed up for our kitchen measure meeting because there was a glitch in the computer scheduling system. When the meeting was rescheduled, the next available time was weeks later. I called both IKEA at the measure service people, waited on hold for a long time, and would periodically get disconnected, all as part of my effort to schedule a simple measure/final quote meeting. We also discovered that the measure service people would not come to measure the kitchen until we signed a contract with them for the completion, something we didn't know we wanted them to do without a measure and final price. An additional downside, IKEA has about 4 laminate wood flooring options only. (If you want to use anything else, you must schedule your own flooring installation, which may have to be rescheduled due to IKEA's unpredictable installation scheduling). There were many, many components of the scheduling process that went like this. At the end of the day, we concluded that IKEA really isn't set up to "do it all" for you and pulled out before we signed a contract (something we *didn't* want to do after putting in a lot of work). They are there for people who are doing most of the work themselves. They are more of a bargain supplier than anything else. And we've had several neighbors who've used them for that purpose and have been quite happy. In conclusion, if you want a do-it-all-contractor, don't give yourself a headache by using a discount supplier. Other companies offer big sales from time to time as well. I'm pretty confident that the difference in price between IKEA and the supplier we chose would not have been that big (I don't know for sure because we couldn't get the *final* quote without a signed contract -- see above). We had our kitchen remodeled by Virginia Marble and Granite because they handled the entire process (except an asbestos abatement) for us. They have an "A" rating with the BBB and Angie's list. They have a completely covered granite showroom and many people who can help. We bought when they were offering a spring sale and feel that we received a great deal -- high quality product with a price similar to IKEA's.
Description of Work: Drew up plans, gave quotes, for complete remodel of kitchen: demolition, supplies, & installation. Most items were being replaced in the same places from which they were removed, though an under cabinet light switch and a microwave plug line, and a stand-in-place dishwasher line needed to be added.

The worst experience EVER!, I could write a book on how horrible it was. I contracted with IKEA to renovate my kitchen using their recommended contractors. Because a regular (read: licensed and competent) contractor wouldn't be able to build and install the cabinets correctly. The woman who measured my kitchen (for about $500) measured things incorrectly so my cabinet door hit the stovetop vent when opened, a drawer wouldn't open without hitting the oven, and my refrigerator would have to be halfway in the door to open the dishwasher. Are you getting a picture of how bad it was? This service was extra, I also wasn't supposed to have to chase down the contractor/electrician/plumber by paying extra for their "planning" service. Incorrect. The contractors left the trash on my deck for two months, they installed counters that weren't level, the electrical work would have apparently either shorted out every time I turned on a burner AND the stove or would've caught fire. This according to the licensed electrician that my replacement contractor hired. The contractors cut several unexplainable holes in the back and sides of the cabinets which my replacement contractor couldn't figure out either. The entire experience was horrible with the IKEA recommended contractor. I tried numerous times to call and email the contractor but was either sent to a full voicemail box or disconnected. When I gave up on that contractor, I found out that IIKEA wasn't doing business with them anymore. Here's a thought, maybe they (IKEA) could do some homework before recommending the WORST contractors in the world. IKEA took the bid from a contractor I got and paid him to fix my kitchen. I have a kitchen now, I would never recommend IKEA services or products to anyone. My current contractor (who will be renovating my master and guest bathrooms soon) also pointed out how the IKEA products were subpar.
Description of Work: A complete renovation of my kitchen was scheduled, including measuring my current one, deciding which cabinets would fit, putting in a new floor, painting, electrical and plumbing. Signed the contract in August, 2012, they finally came to demolish the kitchen the day after Thanksgiving, 2012. Long story short, they were grossly incompetent, I hired another contractor who fixed my kitchen starting January of 2013 and I finally had a kitchen with everything fixed on February 28, 2013.

Picked up the mattress in a roll. Fit in the car well. When we got home we opened it up and it expanded to a nice firm memory foam mattress. No off gas smells. Went back later when we determined what size base we wanted. That had to go on top of the car, but was no problem.
Description of Work: Purchased a memory foam full size mattress - Sultan Finnvik and a Sultan Foundation at the store.

We love the cabinets but not the design service. The designer came to our home and basically copied the drawing I had already done using the same IKEA software with the difference being that she made several mistakes putting end panels on the wrong side, leaving gaps, etc. I had to correct the design before I could take it to the store to purchase the product. Additionally, the designer refused to give us a line item breakdown for the costs making it difficult to understand just what was and was not included. In the end we used a different contractor and we love our new kitchen.

I have no dislikes or complaints about them. I would suggest that when I go there during the week that they have a more rapid registering system. There was once an instance where ninety people were waiting in line for one cashier. However when I go on the weekends they have a proper checkout. They now have two extra checkouts to handle debit and credit transactions. I have an issue getting assistance at times. Sometimes if I have a problem assembling the furniture or have not received the right instructions they are more than accommodating to make sure I have the right pieces in order to assemble the furniture correctly. They are very helpful in providing additional hardware and any kinds of boards or paneling that maybe missing from the kit I may have purchased. They make sure that the product is what I expect it to be. I would use them again in the future.
Description of Work: I used IKEA to purchase furniture, two king size beds, four dressers, chairs, a television stand and side stands.

They are a great, big company, and they have very inexpensive furniture that is nice. There are people there who are nice and who will help you, but a lot of it is self service. You walk through this enormous storeroom, you pick out what you like and write down the style name and the aisle in the self-service warehouse where it is located and you go there and you get it, and it is mostly self-assembly furniture. So you go into this big warehouse with the huge shopping carts that they provide, you buy the stuff and you fix them, load it up on your car - they provide twine and any such thing that you may need - and when you go home, you just assemble it. The directions are understandable, and it works. There’s a long line at the cash register usually.
Description of Work: I bought a dresser for my son from IKEA recently, and I have bought a lot of other furniture for them.

We decided to use IKEA cabinets because they looked very nice in the showrooms, and the price is relatively good. However, they are a NIGHTMARE to build and install, and we didn't even have that many because we have a small kitchen. They give you no guidance, no instructions, a few cryptic pictures, and expect that you own tools such as a circular saw, drill, level, etc. Not good for first time home owners/remodelers. I would not recommend getting IKEA cabinets unless you get a professional installer.
