They have knocked the prices down. I had trouble with them one time trying to buy a table saw. They had the saw advertised but it was out of stock. The day the saw went off sale, miraculously it was back in supply and it was over $200 more. I called the corporate headquarters, spoke to a customer service representative and I explained to her what happened. She told me to hold on and give her about 5 minutes. When she got back, she said they were taking $250 off the saw and were mailing me $100 gift card for the inconvenience. She added that the saw was being sent to the store so I don't have to pay shipping charges to my house. She also said that she was sending me 25% off for the product in the mail.

The kitchen is not even 10 X 10, they didn't finish until September. The biggest problem was the project manager who measured wrong. The cabinets were not supposed to extend to the dining room. There is a clear line that separated the kitchen from the dining room. Instead of just admitting that they measured wrong, they told home depot that I asked for the cabinets to extend into the dining room. They said they would have to reorder the cabinets with the proper measurements and it would take about 3 weeks. I had made Home Depot very clear about the time frame in which I needed the work done. I ended up having to drive to North Carolina to the factory to collect the cabinets as a result of their misjudgement. I wasn't allowed to inspect the cabinets when I picked them up from the factory. I got the cabinets (one wall and one base) home only to find out it was damaged, one of them was severely damaged. They offered to send me a repair kit, which I declined. I had to call some higher up people and new cabinets were expedited to replace the damaged ones. The floor of the kitchen was higher than the adjacent dining room floor. I specifically asked for them to be the same level. I actually emailed the project manager and they assured me this would be done. Instead of replacing the window sill they just slapped paint over a clearly damaged sill that needed replacement. I had to have another company to replace the window sill. I had to have them also create a transition with the flooring from the dining room to kitchen. They also had to fix the paint job.The ConstruXure worker was not showing up everyday and they actually did not start the project until July. The worker, Tom, asked me to sign off on the work prior to it being completed. He promised that he would be back to complete the last couple of day's work in which he did not. He didn't come back until the next day and never called to text that it would be a day later. They were very dishonest and unprofessional. Home Depot offered me a $1,000 to compensate me for the problems but ConstruXure offered absolutely nothing. I actually found Home Depot equally as dishonest.
Description of Work: Kitchen remodel. New cabinets, flooring, new appliances and paint work. I contracted them through Home Depot.

They provided a Veteran discount for the purchase. They took about three weeks to get them in stock. They delivered the appliances, but wouldn’t install them without having an inspector or a new line ran. I called another company and they were able to complete the installation with less work instead. The appliances I purchased were great.
Description of Work: I purchased a Samsung gas stove and microwave from them. I have also recently purchased a GE refrigerator from them as well.

We done several appliance replacements through home depot. There are no issues with appliances and it is because they are new. We have been using a lot of LG products and they seem really good. It was free installation. They are next door. The price was close and I get a military discount because I am a retired veteran. I use them more because they are more convenient for me.

water heater repair, home remodeling

I needed to replace a leaking water heater. Home Depot had one approximately 75 gallon water heater in its store at Woodbridge, VA. The water heater was marked down from the original retail price. The sales rep said it was marked down because it was dented and had a few scratches on it, however, it had the full warranty. I purchased the water heater. The service installer said they would not pick up the water heater because I bought it in the store. I picked up the water heater the next day, the day of the installation. When the installers arrived at my residence, they stated that they could not install the water heater because the parts were not included with the purchase. furthermore, they pointed out that the water heater had been used because there were rust spots on the bottom of the water heater. I was very upset because I had taken a day of annual leave for the installation. I returned the water heater to Home Depot and complained to the manager. He arranged for their service provider to deliver and install a water heater the next day. This cost me another day of annual leave. Other problems occurred with the promotional financing. This was supposed to be an 18 month no interest financing. When the credit card statement arrived, the statement said it 6 months no interest. This cost me another trip and waiting in line at Home Depot. Finally, it was changed to 18 months no financing. Although they gave me $100 off of the purchase, this does not nearly make up for two days of missed work. I will take advantage of the 18 months no interest promotion, but will never deal with Home Depot again. This was one of several issues with that store.
Description of Work: Install water heater.

The salesman in the store was not particularly knowledgable about these products/installation and did not ask for assistance, did not research (manuals/computer) to answer questions-had to be prompted. Luckily another salesperson showed up at the end of the transaction and caught some errors in the accessories list. Ordering took over three hours (we already had picked the model/brand before entering the store). Home Depot also would not do the installation of the replacement (propane ga) drier and provided no assistance on who/how to get this done-so we will pay for this part twice. Actual delivery went well: on time, set up stack, hooked up washer.
Description of Work: Ordered and purchased a new washer and dryer (gas) plus related stacking parts, removal of old appliances, delivery, and installation.

I contacted Home Depot online and the entire process was PERFECT. We were contacted by both phone and email EVERY step of the way, and always had a source to go to had anything gone wrong. The sales person came EXACTLY on time equipped with everything we needed to see and know. When we agreed to purchase, he took the time to ensure we were able to put the purchase on our newly acquired Home Depot credit card (we'd purchased garage doors from them a week before). The gentleman who came to measure was due at 1:30. I arrived home at 1:29 and he was already done! The installation estimate was 3 weeks and they called in 2. The gentleman who did the measurement was part of the installation crew. They were scheduled between 8-10 AM on a saturday and arrived at 8 AM and were DONE by 10:30. They even repaired the frame where the cranks had to be removed. The windows look great and operate flawlessly. I HIGHLY recommend Home Depot's services!
Description of Work: In the midst of a LESS than terrific bathroom remodel, we were forced to replace the windows when the "demo" crew forced open one that we'd nailed close because of issues with the frame. The windows absolutely needed to be replaced at some point, but we were trying to defer the expense. This included replacing 4 crank style windows with 4 double hung, tempered glass windows.

They were pretty good. The carpet I bought from them is stain protected and I do not have any problems with it. One of their people was very helpful in helping me estimate the amount of carpet I would need. He also helped me pick out the padding since I did not know anything about paddings. I had a group of people there helping me which was very pleasant and I was able to go in, pick it out and get the whole process done within an hour and fifteen minutes which really surprised me. Their selection was good but not the best I have ever seen. I however went in there because of a sale they were having and they happened to have what I needed. The carpets came in exactly at the time they said it would. I would use them again in the future.

We visited the Home Depot store on 02/11/2012 to set up a free in home measurement. The measurement occurred on 02/15/2012. On 02/16/2012 we received the estimate and initiated the install. The call came in on 02/20/2012 to schedule the instillation. On 02/22/2012 the carpet was installed on stairs within less than one hour and it looks great! Would recommend using them again.
Description of Work: Needed new carpet installed on lower level stairs. The carpet and padding was good quality too. The installers were quick and prompt and did a good job. Also installed scotch guard padding, which was great!

The contractors they sent to do the job showed up with their girlfriends, and left the job unfinished. I had to finish the job myself, which I should have done from the begining. Home Depot called to ask me how the job was completed, I told them it wasn't. They said a representative would call me back and they never did. I'm stuck with a bill and a job I could have done better myself.

My salesperson was very patient with me. I'm a detail person and she took the time to get what I wanted. She called the factory and got the information that was needed. When it came time to order she went through whatever deals were available. For what I bought, I was disappointed with the quality. The samples shown in the store were higher quality than that was used in the product.

I began interviewing for estimates Nov. 9th, from several companies, local as well as big name companies (i.e. Pella) , i decided to have my sliding patio door replaced by Home Depot (Potomac Mills, VA).Their estimate came well within the local competitors, but they offered a double warranty on materials and installation (2 x 20 years), which would transfer with the next owner of my condo, and of course their promo of 0% Financing for 12 months worked for my budget. The salesperson, Bill Myles, was friendly and professional -- not pushy, and didn't bad mouth the competition, which one company's rep did and that turned me off to them. Once the contract was signed and everything was approved, the follow through was very impressive. RIght away i received a call from the project coordinator to set up an appt for the project manager to come by and do the final measuring of the window/door area. Also Home Depot now has a Project Website for your personal project, so you can see step-by-step how it all progresses, and job reminders to help prepare for the installation, as well as access to contact information -- so business cards can be misplaced without worry -- a very handy feature. (Note: the contract also contained the Energy Efficient Tax Credit form, completed by Home Depot with the cost of materials and the percentage eligible for my tax credit). I asked if the job could be done before Christmas, and they assured me it was possible, but even better the job was scheduled the Monday after Thanksgiving. I was told that the installers would be at my house between 8 a.m. and noon, and to my shock they arrived at 8:15 a.m.! The installers were friendly and very professional and installed the new patio door in 2 hours. They cleaned up what little mess there was, and hauled everything away. I complimented the installer who did the caulking around the door, as he did a very nice, neat job. I would have appreciated the installers to walk in and out through the patio door area rather than coming through the front door, but other than that i have no complaints. The door looks wonderful! And it doesn't end there ... i was going out that afternoon and bumped into the project manager, Ray Grey. He was stopping by to check on how the job went and if i had any questions or concerns. I reported that all went well, and we both departed satisfied with the knowledge of a job well done.

This was a high pressure sales pitch that focused on one type of product (fake - not real wood). Options were limited and the salesperson was not focused on soliciting what I wanted. I'm sure the service is fine and consistent with pricing, but I was bothered by the push to immediately sign. The estimate was around $7,000. I decided to not reface the cabinets, but just replace the doors and drawers (with real wood products) and have everything repainted using a local contractor at about half the cost. While the finished project may not look as sleek and modern as Home Depot's would have, I will be getting a look I want and using natural materials.

I've been interacting with them since 2009 and I recently called them. There is a specific individual that is very knowledgeable of kitchen and home construction. His name was Mr. Fox. Their price was reasonable in comparison to other quotes that I had gotten. I had been conned and scammed by other contractors so I explained to them that I was on a particularly tight budget. Mr. Fox worked with me. I still have not been able to do anything. I called and told him and he said not to worry and that we could still work together. He was very courteous and said to let him know when I was ready. They have a very professional store and I have been in many of them. It is out of my way but I will go back to that particular store. They were really helping me out and they followed procedure. The quote included everything except for the granite countertops. I did have to pay $100 up front for them to start the process of designing the kitchen which I understood after they explained it.

We did not use their services in the end. The estimate was around $1300. I discussed it with my wife and we decided to try someone else. We had done the contract too and they were professional. It was the sixth sense; something did not go right. We ended up having it done by someone else. The experience was very long; it took up almost the whole of the morning for them to explain. They guy was nice but he was too much of a salesman. He was very responsive. I doubt we will use this company in the future but one never knows.

Great Home Depot design staff led by Dan. He worked exceptionally hard to ensure that all our needs were met and we remained within budget. Would recommend looking for outside construction companies to provide installation services. The company that works with Home Depot (Ortiz Construction) charges excessive fees and takes advantage of its Home Depot relationship. You can save thousands and get the same quality by using Angie's List and shopping around.
