Enrique, Ivan and Jackson were exactly what we needed. They were courteous and efficient and got the job done with a minimum of direction. The packing job was first rate; everything arrived without a scratch. My stress level dropped to zero a half hour after they arrived and I saw how professional they were.
Description of Work: Furniture disassembly/assembly, packing, transportation, and all the lifting for a first floor 2-bedroom apartment to a 3-bedroom, 2-bath apartment on the third floor. The distance we moved was about half a block. The whole job was accomplished in about seven hours.

NEVER USE Great Job Moving and Storage – they are downright thieves and con artists. Our move started with moving out of our sold home on April 24th, 2023. Great Job Moving and Storage was to hold our items in the truck for 4 days until April 28th, 2023, when we were to move into our new home. We were assured by the salesperson that we would have 4 movers for the move and that they had a 3-hour minimum that would be based on the move from the sold house and our move into the new home. The move out of the sold house took 5 hours, which met the minimum requirement of 3 hours. On April 28th, the day we were to move into our new home, the moving company was supposed to arrive at 1:30PM. However, the truck arrived after 3:00PM with only ONE mover. The mover that did show up said the other 3 guys were running late on another job but would arrive as soon as they were done and said our time would not start until all 4 movers arrived. The remaining 3 moving personnel only arrived after 6:30PM. During 3:00 PM – 6:30 PM, the single moving person along with my husband and myself, moved most of the items into our new house. The one mover did not ask for help, but we couldn’t stand by and watch one person struggle moving a full truck of things on his own. The lead continually assured us that our start time would only start once all personnel were at the site. When the 3 remaining crew arrived after 6:30 – myself, my husband, and the one mover had moved most of our belongings out of the truck, which left only 45 minutes worth of work for the remaining 3 personnel. After 45 minutes, the lead mover handed us an invoice that was billing us for 3 hours of work. We immediately called the lead’s manager from his phone and said that they erroneously charged us 3 hours and they should correct it to 45 mins. The manager said they must charge a 3-hour minimum and claimed they were two separate jobs. How are they two different jobs??? My belongings were on the SAME truck for 4 days, nothing was moved out of that truck – hence they have not completed their ONE job. This is also after the salesperson we booked the job with told us it was ONE job. We hit our 3-hour minimum moving out of the sold house! The individual on the phone said he would speak to his manager and that someone would be in touch with us to correct it. No one called us back and no one answered our repetitive phone calls. Instead, Great Job Moving and Storage, without my authorization and approval, charged my credit card that night. Additionally, the first payment we made was for them to hold our belongings on their truck, we paid it with a check because they told us there would be a 4% processing fee if we used a credit card. We intended to pay the entire amount by check and avoid the processing fee after they assured us that they only needed the credit card number on file to reserve the dates. This company has no hesitation in committing fraud and stealing from their customers. They are THIEVES, plain and simple. Avoid them at all costs!! Even a month after our move, they still will not answer one phone call or call us back. Great Job Moving and Storage, charging a credit card without the owner’s authorization is fraudulent and a crime. You are crooks!

While living in Falls Church, VA, I hired G&J in (December 2020) to move my belongings into their storage in preparation for a future move out of state. On January 11, 2023, (most of) my belongings were delivered to my new location in Grand Rapids, MI. Instead of a crew of 2 or 3 movers, the LONE mover unloaded the moving truck. Not unexpectedly, this took hours longer than it should have. I noted each box/bin/item he brought into the home to cross-reference and track against the inventory sheet. G&J moved my belongings from their storage facility (Springfield, VA) to my home (Alto, MI) with delivery on January 11, 2023. When the lone mover had unloaded everything, he asked me to sign off (using his computer tablet) that all goods were delivered and in good condition. I had noted that several items were missing and several items showed damage – and advised the driver of such. He re-inspected the truck to ensure there were no more items in the truck; there were none. I explained to him that I could not sign his tablet, since the only option it provided was basically “all delivered – all good” and that I would not sign anything where I was unable to notate missing/damaged items. Together we contacted the G&J home office. The driver explained the situation to whomever had answered the phone, but no management staff was available, so no resolution was made. I was told to use the claims process for rectification. The claims company, CSI, advised me that I did not identify any missing/damaged items at the time of delivery – apparently citing some document. I can only presume that my signature was forged. I have since attempted to dispute the claim – CSI made a minor (and insufficient to me) modification and has closed their processes. CSI advised me to go thru arbitration with G&J. I have been calling G&J offices repeatedly – G&J staff have lied to me repeatedly regarding promised call-backs. Not sure how I am supposed to handle this – seems outrageous to have to consider hiring legal representation, since there apparently is supposed to be some arbitration process. I am reduced to filing a complaint with BBB and posting reviews where I can.
Description of Work: NEEDED: All (not just most) goods moved successfully (without damage).

Fantastic job, exceeded my expectations. I needed a mover on Friday afternoon and use Angie’s list to ask for a quote from multiple firms. This was the only firm that called me and it was soon after my Angie’s list request. They scheduled a mover for 8:30 AM the next morning which was impressive turnaround time. They moved chairs in boxes, and when they got to the destinations, they patiently waited for me to unpack the boxes, and then they took the door off the room where the chairs needed to go and managed to fit them in with a very tight fit. They took all the trash when done. The price was clearly disclosed upfront and that’s exactly what I paid. I highly recommend them.

I found this company on Angi and very disappointed. While the reviews on Angi may look good; take a stroll over to Yelp for a more accurate assessment of this company's moving and billing practices. I provided pictures of each room and provided a list of each item to be moved. On the day of the move, the crew lead came and I walked her through every location in my townhome. It took them about 6 hours to move all the items out of my home. I was billed for a little over 10 hours. The move should never have taken 10 plus hours. They believe because they provide an estimate that they can take an extraordinarily amount of time and bill you and excessive amount over. I also bought the crew lunch (which cost me almost $70) and the crew actually billed me for the time they took to eat their lunch. They also damaged my hardwood floors, leather couch and my tv. Great Job Moving and Storage is an extremely dishonest company. I would not recommend them ever.

I could not recommend G&J more highly. Our team was professional, kind, and took great care of our stuff. We moved out of state and were able to have next day delivery. They communicated with us ahead of time to make sure we knew when they'd be at both houses. We made a couple changes to our inventory list and underestimated how many boxes we'd have. Both were handled with zero problems. We had six movers to move us out, and only two came to the new house, so obviously it took longer. Still done in a completely reasonable amount of time. They verified that everything was completed before they left either house. I would 100% use them again and recommend them to anyone looking for a company that cares!

DO NOT USE IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR ITEMS. I contracted with Great Job Moving and Storage to move several items from my parents house in Springfield, VA to my house in Sterling, VA, a distance of about 30 miles. Included in these items were my mom's piano and her grandfather clock. Knowing that both of these items required special handling, I researched various moving companies and decided on Great Job Moving and Storage in part because they stated (on their website and on the phone) that they had experience moving both of these items. The movers came at the appointed time and were very polite and conscientious about packing my items up. I was very impressed at this point about my choice of movers. When we got to my house they started unloading things and putting them where I asked. Still impressed. Grandfather clock came through perfectly. At the end, I noticed that the piano had not yet been unloaded. That's when the team leader came to me and said that there was a problem. Apparently, they had not properly secured the piano in the truck and during transit, it had fallen over onto whatever was in front of it, snapping off both legs. I was devastated. And p***** because they waited until the very last minute to tell me what had happened when they knew from the beginning that the piano had been broken. The Team Leader made a phone call to his boss and then assured me that they had a very good carpenter who could make new legs for the piano and that I would have it back in a couple of weeks. I paid them the full amount in good faith thinking that I would get my piano back shortly. BIG MISTAKE! It has been almost a year and still no piano. I am heartbroken. I have left several messages for the manager (Jayson Chapman) who has yet to return any of my calls. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE IF YOU VALUE YOUR GOODS!!

Mo and his team were AWESOME. They moved a very special piece of furniture for me and then a week later came back to pack my POD for storage. They were efficient, great communication, everything was packed/wrapped very carefully. Just a great team. I will be using them a 3rd time when it's time to move the POD to its final destination.

It was a horrible experience. The company did an online inventory assessment. We discussed every item that would be moved via this phone conversation, and I overestimated the number of boxes (45). I initially was not going to hire them because of several bad reviews and my previous moving experience, but the customer rep assured me, and I also read some great reviews, so I moved forward with the contract. However, I should have known this was going to be a terrible move when I received a call asking if we were willing to pay $50 more an hour for a fifth person who was initially going on another job, but the job was canceled. I emphatically stated, 'No' I will not pay $50 extra. When they arrived, the fifth person was there (they did not charge me). They arrived with 2 women and 3 men. We have multiple items that are extremely heavy (hence why we called movers). They started moving things into the truck, and I assumed it was based on the inventory list we supplied. One of the movers informed me that all our items would not fit and would need a second trip. This is after 5-6 hours of loading items. I asked the mover to show me the inventory list (I forgot to mention that my husband and I had moved most of the boxes, which left 17 boxes to move (we told GJ moving that there were 45-50) and several items (benches, chairs, patio equipment) and still they did not send a big enough truck to move our items. I immediately knew at that point that this was how they were going to scam me. We reluctantly agreed with no choice but to have them move the items in two trips. When they arrived, all 5 started re-assembling; I then asked if 2 of the movers could go back and get the rest of the items as we were being charged by the hour. At this point, we are 7 hours in of an 8-hour estimated job. Needless to say, it went beyond the 8 hours with not very professional movers. They stacked items incorrectly causing damage to my formal dining room set. Those know that formal dining rooms are rarely used, so they always look brand new. Not anymore - thanks to GJ moving. We were moving into a home where we made some changes. We put in new hardwood floors and had them painted - Yes, they damaged the floors (chipped the floor in one of the rooms) and damaged the walls in the Primary bedroom. Trying to contact the manager Jayson Chapman, was like trying to reach the pope at the Vatican. I NEVER personally spoke to him but was managed through the customer service rep, Anthony. I had to threaten to withhold the credit card payment to get someone to send a claims form for the damages. They did not even try to work out the situation with the extra hours due to their negligence and assessment of the needs for my move. I will NEVER recommend this company, and I hope this will be a warning. I didn't listen to the other bad reviews when I really should've - don't make my mistake.

I booked this company based on the positive reviews and availability on my move date (I moved the day before Thanksgiving). Initially the service seemed great but they assembled my child's bed incorrectly and left screws out - the guy doing the assembly wreaked of weed so I'm sure he was probably high, left heavy items in the old house, and stole half of my Christmas tree. I called the office to tell them about my complaints and was told I would receive a call back from the manager on Wednesday, it's now Friday and I've called multiple times but conveniently they aren't answering the phone. This company has expensive rates but it's not worth the money, don't let the positive reviews fool you, they don't hire quality talent and aren't responsive after your job is complete.

Do not hire Great Job Moving and Storage (GJ). My move with them was a nightmare. On moving day, they told me that the third man on the team would not be joining them, so they brought in a woman who was not a GJ employee. Luckily, they only charged me for 2 movers, instead of 3. However, I was wary of an unknown non-employee handling my belongings. The moving truck was not well stocked. I needed additional boxes and tape, but little to none was available. This was an avoidable error. I'll fast forward to the end result. I came to find out that a fairly expensive item was not delivered to my home. I included this on my claim, along with damage to furniture and my home. I noted this "real property damage" to the movers on move-in day. Still, GJ's insurance company denied my claim for restitution for the real property damage caused by their movers, as well as for the item that was never delivered to my new home. The reason for denying my claims is that I should have noticed the missing item on move-in day. This is an impossibility, as I had approximately 200 items (give or take), most of which were stacked 10 feet high in my garage. There is no way that I would have been able to know on the most hectic day of my decade which items were missing. GJ denied the real property damage, claiming that I did not notify them on move-in day. This is false. First, I notified them of the damage to walls/doors/furniture that I knew of that day. Additional damage was discovered after move-in day. GJ does not allow for disputes to real property damage or missing items. This is a pathetic policy. This is abominable customer service. Run, don't walk, away from Great Job Moving and Storage. I went for a lower-priced option and I regret that I did.

It went TERRIBLE. It was no more than an hour of work (8 items), and we were charged for FOUR & A HALF HOURS, along with a slew of add-on charges. When I disagreed with the charges, I was disrespectfully insulted and yelled at by the Foreman, and ignored and given the run-around by the Managers at G&J (all with "full" voicemails). They took me to the cleaners and got LOUD & DISRESPECTFUL in the long terrible process. I paid $1000 to move 8 items less than a mile. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE COMPANY!!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS -- DO NOT HIRE !!!

I wish there was a 0 stars option for GJ Moving. I wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone. The management at GJ is unprofessional. They also have a transparency problem. My experience: As a “professional” moving company, you are supposed to clear the height of your moving truck. GJ failed to do this beforehand, doubling their moving time. I was unfairly charged for this additional time- for THEIR mistake. I called to dispute the charge. Jayson Chapman at management told me he would return my call to reach an agreement. Instead, I’m met with COMPLETE silence. Then, the full amount, including the unfair upcharge, was withdrawn from my bank account. I specifically mentioned that I did NOT consent to being charged before a discussion. They took the money anyway. I have yet to receive a response from Jayson Chapman, or anyone at GJ for that matter. On top of this: Most of my furniture was damaged. My items were handled carelessly. No mats or coverings for the floors. Not COVID safe. Clearly, GJ Moving thinks they can get away with treating customers like this. This is not a company committed to customer satisfaction. Extremely disappointed with GJ Moving. Stay far away from this company.

Move estimate was between $1,000 and $1,200. Actual amount for move was $1,540. Movers took 5 hours to drive from Alexandria to Newport News with no explanation and no way to contact them (we call the office, but no answer)- we left same time as movers and made the drive in 3.5 hours. The movers charged us for the extra time it took them to arrive. When I refused a tip (because of the large increase over the original estimate) the driver added a "walk up" fee of $75 (this was later refunded after filing a complaint with the office). Their furniture handling and respect and care for our furniture was great, but the customer service and unexpected rate add ons were unacceptable. i had high hopes for this neighborhood company, but overall i was unsatisfied.

G&J did a wonderful job. They made the planning and scheduling effortless (thank you Stephenne!). They called the day before the move to confirm the time and details. On moving day Armando and Emilio arrived on time and went right to work. They were very careful to wrap pieces to ensure nothing was damaged. Upon arrival at the new location, they quickly unloaded the truck and asked us where each piece of furniture and each box should be placed. They had everything set up and ready in no time. I would definitely use G&J moving again and I would definitely ask for Armando and Emilio. They were both polite, friendly and very professional.

G&J was AWFUL. Stay away. I only write reviews when service is memorable-- usually truly horrible or excellent and this was the former. Movers were supposed to arrive between 11 and 1. No call, no show. I called multiple times and at 2 got a call that they had been delayed at their last job, that my new place had "too many steps" and that they wouldn't be able to make it. Then I got a call back a few hours later saying actually, the truck had broken down which is why they couldn't make it. But they would come the next day. I said forget it, having no faith they would actually show up or that I wanted such unprofessional movers handling my stuff. All during COVID when moving is hard enough. I ended up scrambling, having to spend hundreds more to find another mover last minute. Really a shame because the entire bidding and planning process was very professional and smooth. Don't be fooled! Go elsewhere

I have moved many times in the past several years, and have never experienced such unprofessional and slow movers as G & J Moving. After comparing several movers in the area, I choose to go with G & J Moving because the salesperson claimed they had large industrial type bins that are very durable with wheels that allow for faster moving and drastically reduces the risk of anything being damaged. The salesperson also claimed that all of their movers were professional and highly trained. Reality: ‘Large industrial type bins on wheels that are very durable’ FALSE !! These ‘bins’ turned out to be large, worn-out boxes put on an unattached furniture dolly. They would bring the large boxes to the apartment, put a lot of things in there, take them to the trucks, then unload one item at a time on the edge of the truck, then one at the time take to the other end. (Items example: A pillow, a clothing iron (in a small box), etc.) What was explained to me is that once the bins were loaded, they would roll the full bins onto the truck then roll them out into my new place. When asked why they were not doing that, their response was, “That’s just too much work.” Because they were getting paid by the hour, they knew exactly what to do to turn a 3 hr move into a 5 hr move. Please note I am one person who moves often, so I make a point not to have many things. Reality: ’Professional and highly trained.’ FALSE. In my opinion, someone who is professional would not show up smelling heavily of marijuana and act like they are stoned. Also, if someone is ‘highly trained,’ why would one of the movers be standing around doing nothing until the other movers had to tell him step-by-step what to do. During the move, the untrained mover, was often seen on his cell phone, sometimes leaning against the wall ‘hanging out’ or just sitting around on my furniture. He had to be instructed exactly what to do, for example, “Pick up that box and take it to the elevator,” “put this in the moving truck,” etc. My entire apartment was to be moved into the truck. Not to mention, a professional would not ask inappropriate questions to me, including where I work, my marital status, why I do not have children, how much my apartment costs, etc. AND even though they moved so slow, items were broken. One example he threw my desktop computer into the bin, and it fell out, and I had to pick it up. I told him you realize that’s my computer right, and he said yeah so… So not only is this moving company assured to give you the slowest service ever, thus maximizing their ‘charge by the hour,’ but they are likely to leave you with broken items that they will only reimburse you for 60 cents per pound after filing a claim and doing a mound of paperwork. I also took it upon myself to contact the company to make them aware of how horrible these two guys were… I asked if it was normal behavior, and they said well marijuana is legal, and the job got done. So, I received NO apology and NO sense of compassion.

The job went really smooth. I was impressed at the ability to communicate with me electronically, and to quickly get me an online estimate, breaking down the anticipated costs. I am too busy to take phone calls during the day, so to be able to work through email and online estimates, was a huge plus. Bethaney was not only the one providing the estimate, but also acting as my moving manager, as I was stuck out of the country. I'm very much keen to re-hire for my next move in 2021. Highly recommended.

The move went well. The job needed to be done in a limited amount of time and the guys worked very hard to make it happen in the time frame allowed. Very professional and respectful during the move. All items were damage free; they wrapped everything well and moved all items cautiously. We were very impressed.
